People seem to forget (or not understand) that the relative peace for the individual in well off countries the last half century+ is an aberration in the history of humanity. Shit times are coming when they’ll be reminded, and they’ll wish they had a gun.

Yep. Every time I get back up to ~90 lbs on the belt my sternum acts up. Had to stop doing them recently.

Primarily for strength, nSuns 5/3/1 has been of tremendous benefit to me. Now I just use it for certain lifts, rather than the whole routine.

This is a big part of getting serious about fitness too. You naturally start hanging out less and less with people who always want to get drunk and whatnot, people who don’t value the same things as you.

Go to the gym for you, not women.

Yep, started training neck 3x per week last year. Started at 17” circumference and am now at 18.75”. Up to 2x plates (90 lbs) with neck curls for 20 reps. Big changes in pictures.

Moved to the interior of Alaska last summer, and started taking vitamin D as the days got shorter. This is the first winter in memory that I haven’t been lethargic/depressed with the lack of sunlight, going to and getting off work in the dark, etc. and it’s by far the least sunlight I’ve received. Vitamin D gets a thumbs up from me.

Yeah, people will give me looks when I’m doing my neck exercises, but I make sure to give off a no nonsense/don’t approach me aura. Plus people can tell that I know what I’m doing. Not to mention they wouldn’t be able to do the same weight.

I kept pushing and improving myself through career and eventually found two guys (bigger than myself) with the same drive for exceptionalism to keep me hungry.

I hear you on the grocery bill lol. 6’1 205-210, meal prep is a big help if you buy in bulk.

Can’t stress the importance of financial freedom and the options it gives enough. For anyone who isn’t sure where to start, download Personal Capital or some other financial tracker and get your shit consolidated and where you can see it. Beats the hell out of having to log into 10+ accounts to keep track of everything. After that, figure out where you’re wasting money. For me it was eating out. Start meal prepping (eating healthier and saving money). Suddenly saving 200-500 dollars a month that…

Broke the New Year in well. Didn’t see anyone new at my gym lol, so that was nice.

Yep. Nut butter (peanut and then cashew and sunflower when I got sick of peanut butter lol), milk, cheese, pasta, and yogurt were my staples, and that shit works.

From personal experience it felt good when my last gf said she wanted my babies. Unfortunately we decided to split up for work/moving reasons, so nothing ever came of it haha.

Same. In my case I was super needy/jealous and it just made the situation worse.

It's cringeworthy looking back on the degree I used to do this. I was completely sold on having long conversations, even though they never changed anything and I was perpetually stressed. I wasn't able to see it until TRP that in the beginning of my last relationship, I never had to do anything other than express distaste to get her to change her act right away. Definitely dropped the ball on that one, I became a real pussy for that last year.

Right on with the taking away commitment. Men across the board need to stop rewarding bad behavior in women.

I came to this conclusion myself in the last 6 months or so. When I was growing up, I would watch movies old cowboy movies with my dad. The portrayal of honor and character really influenced me, and it's a shame to see a lot of that gone from how modern men are shown in the media. But maybe even more importantly, it made me desire adventure, and I've been seeking it ever since I left home. Granted, there aren't battles between cowboys and Indians these days, but I've made do with a a couple depl…

Not sure why people are saying don't tell him. That's a pretty critical piece of information on his "best friend's" character. I'd rather lose my best friend than carry on blissfully unaware that he was trying to fuck my girlfriend behind my back.

+1 for the last line. And not even just the front lines (though I imagine it's much worse there), even in aerospace maintenance as more and more women are brought in, the entire concept(s) of brotherhood and male bonding are being suppressed as guys walk on egg shells and can't even joke to blow off steam these days without fear of getting charged with sexual harassment because the wrong person was walking past and took something a little too seriously.

I've seen this in action quite a bit (especially recently now that I'm a little more aware), and to me it really comes down to the fact that they don't want to put in the effort needed to actually achieve those goals. Or maybe they actually believe that it doesn't take significant effort, time, and sacrifice to get most things worth having.

When I was in basic training about 6 years back, all the new arrivals had a briefing with the chaplain on base, and he said something that I didn't recognize the long term truth in it until recently. He said that every group of men that came through basic training was the same and that every group of women that came through was the same. The men all arrived with the firm intention of keeping their head down and powering through on their own, without relying on anyone else. In time, the men would…
