Looking at the link you've added, it seems that it's an ongoing partnership with ASDA and CoppaFeel/Breast Cancer Now rather than a response to an awareness month. Like Tesco and CRUK, or M&S and Macmillan.

I'm in the UK too, but don't shop at ASDA, so haven't seen that. I know that when I buy from Domino's/Pizza Hut/somewhere like that they ask if I want to donate to Teenage Cancer Trust. So I know that it is a thing. Also, whenever you go to card shops that try and convince you to buy a Marie Curie pen. In my experience, lots of people care about it. And men growing moustaches and beards create a real talking point and start the conversations about men's health issues. Also, I've seen March for Men marches take place which is organised by Prostate Cancer UK. I guess our experiences are very different.

Maybe it's a regional thing? I actually haven't seen anything for Breast Cancer Awareness, but have seen stuff for Movember in previous years. The only health things I think of in October is "Stoptober" and "Go Sober for October".
