I do think that in today's day and age women are also WAY more capable of fending for themselves compared to women even 70 years ago, and much moreso than at the time of the Titanic. (Which is the situation that keeps coming to mind when I hear "women and children first".) So the modern expectation is definitely way out of proportion with reality. 7	This comment on the term 'women and children' is so on point To be completely transparent before I make my actual comment: I totally get it and would never argue for or against this point (about equality, women are adults too). Even as a woman who benefits from the sentiment. I think the "women and children first" had (past tense) to do with the fact that the women were the ones giving birth to more humans, and the children were the ones growing up into working members of society. 16	I really feel for her 100%!! I used to work for a car parts store, and if the drivers came up front to get parts for delivery (back stock was out, or it was just easier to find), the boomer hag of a merchandiser would whine about them "raping the shelves", and now she has to restock. (That's literally your one job) I wish I had reported her to HR before I quit. Imagine if a rape victim had been within earshot of this awful comment?
