It's unfortunate that we don't have a mainstream political party that represents our views. I'm also socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I'm still waiting for the Republicans to do something fiscally conservative. George W. Bush and Reagan were not fiscally conservative. I tend to vote Democrat as the lesser of two evils. If we're going to spend money either way, might as well get someone in power who is progressive on social issues.

It makes me wonder if American society really is in a state of decline. People always bitch and moan about things not being as good as they used to be. But when you can't take your own child to the park without being labeled a child molester, we have a huge problem as a society outside of nostalgia for days passed.

YES, unfortunately in America men are considered unclean or something so they can't be around children unsupervised or people's knee-jerk reaction will be to think they are pedophiles. Our sensationalist media is largely to blame. The headline "40 year old man teaches children to read after school" isn't as profitable as "40 year old pedophile performs S&M on 10 month old!!!". The first headline is easily 1000 times more commonplace in real life than the second one.

No argument there. I was fortunate and smart enough to not have to take out loans for my education. I think it was definitely overpriced in retrospect. Tuition room and board, food, and books for 4 years cost me $80,000. I didn't go on any " college trips" other than Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family at home. I think it's insane that people take out loans for $80,000 or more for a bachelors degree, the value of which is a lot less now than it was even 4 years ago when I graduated.

You're absolutely right. It is sad that you have to have stellar grades to find a crap job or get into grad school out of college these days, but it is what it is, this is America.
