Use equipment to prevent injury, drop weight for a week or two. Watch the pain subside. I hurt my knee squatting two weeks ago. I decided to buy some knee sleeves and drop my weight by 50%. Now I'm back to normal weight with almost no pain. Your muscles can handle more than your joints, sometimes you have to take it slow and let them build strength too.
