While sweatshops don't exist here in America, other forms of employment which operate on the same principle do exist. Towards the end of the article the economists explain the problem with sweatshops is exactly what I'm talking about: labor isn't valued. I'm not against manual labor, so when I say "sweatshops," I'm specifically referring to the devaluation of labor that comes with it. It's not as though countries haven't industrialised before. This has serious consequences, and it doesn't take a genius to see it. So when the value of a product created by a worker is greater than his or her pay, then the wage they are receiving is exploitation by definition. In other words: theft. This exploitation can occur at any pay grade, but it is most commonly seen at the minimum wage level.
