S/he may have a function to attend immediately before/after. As it is a dress uniform, not a warzone one, it is sensible & appropriate to allow some leeway in their scheduling without them having to change 8 times a day like an English Victorian noble. Side note: military gyms are often crowded & filled with superiors & subordinates. It's nice to get away from the formalized etiquette which that can bring, especially when you just want to get a sweat on.

I have no problem with the dress uniform in public. There are any number of reasons to wear Alphas/blues/whites etc. in the civilian world. They are authorized as civilian formal attire, in place of a suit at weddings, or funerals for instance. My problem is with those Sailors/Airmen/Marines/Soldiers who wear camouflage pattern uniforms (digicam, etc.) in public, although sadly it is now widely authorized. I detest seeing military folk in dress uniform. Did you mean "non-dress" uniform? Also, as you are a DOD contractor, not a superior officer, please do not call them out on it. By all means, report it to the chain of command, whose job it is to enforce these rules, but as a civilian, I implore you, do not speak to the shitbirds in their BDUs at WalMart directly. It is 100% outside of your purview & likely only to cause dissention in the workplace.

I have a huge, instinctual problem with seeing BDUs/cammies in the civilian world. Those are the uniforms we wear to kill/invade/destroy. We have Alphas/blues/whites etc. for the specific purpose of interacting with civilians. And seeing COPS in camouflage...don't get me started...

They did when I was in, but considering the number of Sailors, Marines, & Soldiers I see drinking in uniform, it's either been struck, or simply isn't enforced anymore. I live in a military town.

I appreciate the advice, and you're probably right about the recording (I upvoted you), but this is the kind of blanket statement that discredits the MR movement, and lets opponents dismiss us. Whatever situation you went through to make you feel that way sucks, and shouldn't have happened, I just hope to keep discussions on MR as levelheaded as possible.

I've worked in healthcare too, including terminal wards, and have had that same experience. It's a very different situation between patients & coworkers.

I'm not looking for sympathy, I just needed to rant I guess. As I said, most of the time it doesn't bother me, and I do take advantage of the undeserved benefits (and feel weird about it later). It's just odd to have the shoe be on the other foot. If I were to complain, it would be directly to the offenders. The company is pretty small (~50 employees), so there really is no HR department, or any official policy on harassment, or much of anything else that I'm aware of.
