Disabled VA BenefitsEach state should have a child support calculator. So in my case, since I work (I am not TDIU just P&T), the disability pay was added to the total income I receive per month. Then they base the child support numbers on my total income vs hers and the output is the child support I owe. I will edit my comment above because it looks like it can be used in the calculation of alimony since it is considered income. But your disability compensation is not a marital asset to be divided during the divorc… | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/24 01:57 PM
Disabled VA BenefitsI received mine after the divorce but it can only be used as income for child support calculations. Edit: I misspoke, since it is considered income it can be used in the calculation of BOTH alimony and child support. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/07/24 01:41 PM
Higher earner afraid of losing big in divorceI found I had these same issues that I paid for dearly (minus the DV) while going through family court and I am a female. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/12/23 09:30 AM
Recently Separated and My Wife May be Siphoning Money into Secret AccountHire the best forensic accountant, and attorney and have them file for dissipation of marital assets. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/12/23 10:36 PM
Higher earner afraid of losing big in divorceWhat discount are you referring to? My divorce cost like 150k, if not more lol. I was treated like a man going through family court ... fun ride. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/12/23 10:34 PM
Higher earner afraid of losing big in divorceFemale and was the higher earner as well (same-sex marriage). I didn't pull the trigger and my ex was horrendous throughout the divorce (and before as she planned it for 2 years) but I didn't lose any assets, took on the debt, and fought like hell. I ended up with no alimony (4-year marriage - they were going for permanent), 50/50, and minimal child support. It was painful financially and I am set back many years but I am happy with the way it turned out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/12/23 10:21 PM
Discovery and interrogatoriesDo you want to spend a bunch of money on something you can just provide? lol. As someone who "won" my divorce as the higher earner, I saw all the tricks and I just complied while my ex played games. Just provide the documentation unless you are hiding something there is nothing wrong with playing by the rules. I decided to choose what I would spend my money on battle wise and documentation was not it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/11/23 12:47 PM
Discovery and interrogatoriesThey will subpoena your records and likely come back asking for attorney fees for your nondisclosure. Edited to add that I provided as much as I could and had time for and the ones I could not track down easily I wrote I didn't have and/or couldn't get access to. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/11/23 09:02 AM
I really don't think I'm going to fight this ... at all.Thank you. Wishing the best for your divorce and the new life ahead of you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/11/23 07:52 AM
I really don't think I'm going to fight this ... at all.I am a female who lurks in this sub as I was treated like a man throughout my family court experience (same-sex marriage). I was the higher earner but was stuck with all of the bills and significant and destructive legal bills due to my ex, her family, and her attorney's "strategy". Her family had millions of dollars to bankroll this incredibly expensive divorce while I just had myself. I did not give up although I wanted to so many times. I realized the more I was willing to give up to her, the… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/11/23 10:35 PM
What was the cost of your divorce? You should ask Kevin Costner if that's the case. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/23 03:58 PM
What was the cost of your divorce?Thank you. Sometimes I get hate on this sub for being a woman but I had the same experiences in my same-sex marriage and subsequent divorce as most men here. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/10/23 03:58 PM
What was the cost of your divorce?I feel for you lol. It's not her money and she has a backing of enablers... not fun for the other person who is covering all of their own fees. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/23 06:55 PM
What was the cost of your divorce?Sounds about right. I can tell mine is preparing for the next battle just in the way she talks to me about our child. It will be never ending with these types of people especially when their parents pay their legal fees. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/23 04:51 PM
What was the cost of your divorce?150k for a 1-year divorce because it only takes one high-conflict person to drag a divorce out. Female same-sex marriage/divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/10/23 04:43 PM
Those that finalized and are on the other side. Looking back what was the worst part of the whole process for you?The entire thing was the worst. She took our son the day she initiated the divorce and withheld him for 9 months, then came for max back child support (yes, I fought the withholding it took forever), she used my money as the bargaining chip the entire divorce despite working our entire marriage, she ran up over 200k in legal fees JUST on my side to end up with nothing that she was going for. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/09/23 08:15 AM
Raising Over-billing to LawyerThat is not correct. You will get "hit" with sanctions for additional attorney fees if you do not comply with discovery documentation requests. No one asks for attorney fees for initial consultations and will absolutely go for attorney fees in contested. This about it, do you think a vindictive/lower-earning spouse is going to accept a 400.00 initial consultation fee but NOT going to go for 50-100k+ in attorney fees when they drag out the divorce or you do because you won't comply with simple re… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/23 07:58 AM
Raising Over-billing to LawyerI would just provide what they are entitled to. I went through this literally for the last year, was the higher earner, getting raked over the coals by an unethical opposing counsel and horrific STBXW. I provided everything, and hid nothing while they played games. We hit them with multiple sanctions. I would never put myself at risk for MORE legal fees by playing games, it just doesn't make sense in this environment because they can really make your life even more of a hell and fast. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/08/23 02:34 PM
Raising Over-billing to LawyerYes. If you make them work harder for documents they are entitled to you will get hit with a sanction for attorney fees. I do not recommend this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/08/23 02:21 PM
