I mean I've certainly cut some friends over them just being impossibly confident idiots. Yeah, I also think that in order to be a true snub that the decision to include them would need to be almost universal (excluding the Academy, or other award panel obviously). I've done a bit of reading since my other comments, and it sounds like despite how great her film was, it wasn't really in contention to win and thus was more on par with the lower level nominees (that may just be a bias of the articles I've read, not sure). All I'm saying is that just because one person made a highly hypocritical stand about the lack of respect that female directors receive doesn't mean that we should jump against the concept. While the mind set of "ALL the snubbed women directors" certainly comes off as the needle swinging a little too far, from other comments on this post and a couple quick Google searches it sounds like there was in fact one or two women who would have been deserving of a nomination.
