Imo, Long hair is almost always more feminine (there are exceptions obviously, but rare). That said I generally prefer it also because it's a sign of good health as well (longer hair usually requires you to be more healthy to start with).

While I agree with the push back POV the key is to not overreact. If she calls you a goof in a playful manner, the response isn't "shut the fuck up" (especially if you have no history of doing so) but to pull out some embarrassing thing in a light hearted manner. Make it clear in her own language that if she makes fun of you will respond in kind. Overreacting can very quickly paint you as a bad guy to everyone present which it doesn't seem OP wants to do

I wouldn't rag on having female friends as they can be very useful from a social proof point of view as well as having sentimental value if they're childhood friends

This but the key is to only do this after they disrespect you and you have to make the reason (disrespect) is why you're doing it otherwise if you make no explanation, most folks (especially girls) will not make the connection between their actions and your behavior and will think you're just being mean rather than understanding they need to fix their behavior around you. Likewise you only do this in response to their disrespect, if you presuppose disrespect you'll very quickly rack up a reputat…
