Have an honest conversation with her. Ask her if she's happy with men like this. Ask her why she's baking her perfect bread. Is it to show appreciation because her boyfriend is amazing and treats her so well? Or does she think that men wouldn't like her, wouldn't choose her if she didn't bend over backwards and be extra nice. Or that she doesn't deserve to ask for better. Dig deep and you might find that she's struggling to validate and value herself outside of the services she's able to provide…

I've been in a mental place that's similar to your friends. I literally did not think I deserved better than the horrible way my ex treated me. My therapist, my friends, they tried to tell me I was valuable and deserved better, that I wasn't ugly or unlovable etc. but I couldn't believe them because I reasoned: if I truly deserved a better man, then where was he? You can try telling them this: if you settle for scraps, scraps is the best you'll ever get. So you might as well have high standards …

I'm 22 and I gotta admit, it took me a while to see my mum as a full person with character and strengths and flaws. As a kid, she was just my mum who did everything for me and later, she was someone who was overprotective and got in the way of me being myself. I didn't have any real conversation with my mum until recent years- as a teenager, our 'conversations' were her lecturing me about something I didn't wanna hear about. Now I respect my mum for being someone who's always trying to learn and…

Yes, lately theres been an influx of posts implying HVW = beautiful and rich. It's not inspiring imo bc rich women and poor women might as well be living in different countries.

Some guys have a cuckold fetish or maybe they got off knowing they have a hot partner nobody else can touch

I know a girl in high school who went out and regularly had sex with 40 yr old men. Her parents were at the same time controlling yet neglectful- its a chiche but probably a combo of daddy issues, wanting to get back at her parents and needing validation. Also even a pathetic 40 yr old has more money than most 21 yr old guys, imo i'll rather be with someone at the same stage of life and when thats your early 20s you can assume everyone man or woman is broke.

I wonder what happened that caused the switch from humans worshipping earth goddesses to the idea of a singular male god

agree but it's easier said than done imo. i'm the type of person that gets attached easily, i know it's not the best thing for me but it just happens. it's not like i decide to attach myself and i'm struggling to rid myself of this trait

i) some might want supermodels because dating one is a status symbol (like leo di caprio- those women didn't suddenly become uglier after 25 but he wants to flex that he can always get a new younger woman) ii) some don't want to love their gf/wife as her own person but as someone to fulfill a function in their lives (constant housekeeping, sex, companionship etc.) so the only metric that matters is that she looks good iii) because being with their looksmatch is 'settling for less' when there are…

imo the 1-10 scale as seen on rate me type subs are more dumb rather than demeaning. they classify tiers 7 through 10 with models and actresses and 4 and below as being unattractive whilst leaving only 5 and 6 for regular people (or something like that). it's ridiculous having 30-40% of the scale represent only the top 5% of the population. and it's always eurocentric beauty standards too. realistically most people are gonna be around the middle of the bell curve and where each person is there, …

the comments below the video say it all. just full of guys saying that the women there are single because they expect the guy to pay on the first date. like their resentment for women is just projected so clearly. i wonder if it's women watching this for advice or these men enjoying a man 'putting women in their place'

yeah it's a combo of misogyny and self-hatred for this dude. people who can only seek happiness from shallow external validation probably can't stand being alone with themselves. i'm gonna bet the only 'good feeling' this guy gets out of his own life is jacking off to porn

She was completely blindsided and by her previous post, she really cared about him. I dont think we can be too harsh on her, she'll realise soon that she has to leave.

you're completely right. i should've clarified to only refer to people who don't have a plan to work on their illness, sorry i forgot to take that into account

i'm mentally ill too. i don't think we're unlovable- we can receive all the love we need from family, friends and if possible at all, ourselves. in my experience though, being in a relationship added strain to my life and that made my mental illness worse. my bf in highschool had depression and i'm pretty sure i made it worse for him because i didn't know how to deal with it without being dragged under too. unless a mentally ill person is willing to be with someone equally ill as they are, i don…

Does the study include common law marriages as well as legal ones? It'll also be interesting to see how those married women died (child birth? domestic violence?)

(hopefully) former pickme here. pickmes may feel like they don't have a lot of options so when a guy comes and he's got even a few good qualities, they feel like they have to give him everything so he doesn't leave them. a lot of women on this sub are beautiful and confident but not all of us are: some of us are plain/bad looking and don't get approached by guys at all so it's hard to have an 'abundance mindset' another reason is that they (or I at least) think that if they are low maintenance a…

don't level up for anyone except yourself. I struggle with mental illness and it weighs down every other aspect of my life so I'll suggest seek help for your anxiety and depression and work on improving your self esteem as a priority
