The same reason you'd empathize with a woman who chose HERself over HER kid? Why do only women get to say "nope, not ready for this"? You CANNOT be this obtuse. Exactly how is it fair or just to give women greater control over the trajectory of their own lives? (Unless you're also against at-will abortion of course - at least then you'd have an internally consistent philosophy. But that's not the impression I'm getting.)

You seriously think it ISN'T a difficult decision for men carrying a potential for deep psychological harm? Shit, if anything it's arguably worse - if you go through with it you'll still have to go the rest of your life knowing that somewhere out there is your biological offspring, and you never had any say in the matter. At least women get true finality. Forgive a guy for maybe needing a minute. Thanks for demonstrating that the empathy gap is alive and well though, I guess.

That's about as likely as praying away the gay. What they CAN be taught, though, is how to live with their proclivities without inflicting harm on others (i.e. how to keep it in their pants). Granted, this would be much easier if Western society didn't also insist on criminalizing cartoons, but baby steps. Nobody gets to choose their preferences, and pretending otherwise does a hell of a lot more harm than good.

I think the argument for getting it in early is to avoid having the young men end up in that desperate and lonely situation to begin with. Hoping that everyone gets to have their first time with their first love is nice, but EXPECTING it just isn't realistic.

Skepticism? Certainly. But that's not the same thing as dismissing the concept out of hand. The first paragraph could just as easily be applied verbatim to mental health professionals, but they seem to be a lot less vilified somehow. It's almost as if we're still dragging ourselves out of a cultural backdrop that's spent the last couple of centuries insisting that sex is dirty and wrong.

Sounds better than being a man in your 30s who's never had so much as a first kiss. It's a less-than-ideal solution, but we live in a less-than-ideal world. And I see no reason to assume that she "couldn't care less" - certainly there's not much in the way of personal investment, but compassion and empathy for a stranger who's come to you for help isn't out of the question. Sounds a bit like the therapist-client relationship honestly.

That is VERY reductive and largely incorrect. You can't "cure" narcissism, but most narcissists aren't malignant and very much CAN be helped to see things differently; they just need a bit of prodding now and then. Treating them as subhuman, on the other hand, isn't going to help them or anyone around them. Might be a good idea to look into it a little further before making sweeping generalizations.
