That actually sounds pretty reasonable. If things really are straightforward and you two can agree on most of it, you might not need heavy legal involvement. Sometimes it’s worth hiring a lawyer just to review paperwork or make sure you’re not missing something important, rather than having them handle the whole case. Think of it as paying for peace of mind rather than a full blown court battle.

That sounds really tough you’re doing your best in a hard situation. Reset days are rough on kids, and the fact they let those feelings out with you shows they feel safe. Hang in there, it won’t always be this hard.

Totally hear you on this. Family court can feel stacked, and it’s frustrating when “best interests” seems like code for “default to mom.” Glad you were able to secure equal time though that’s a huge win in NJ, even if it shouldn’t feel like such a rarity.

You handled that really well calm, neutral, and boundary setting. Sometimes the best response is the shortest one. It shows you’re not getting pulled into drama and keeps the focus on what actually matters.

Man, that reframing is powerful. You’re right divorce doesn’t just break you down, it forges you into someone tougher, wiser, and more resilient. Society often overlooks what men go through in this process, but the fact that you kept going, provided for your kids, and carried all that weight on your shoulders shows a level of strength most people can’t even imagine. Respect for putting this out there it’s exactly the kind of perspective more of us need to hear.

You’ve been through more than most people could handle, and still managed to raise two great young men and keep moving forward. That’s proof of your strength. This chapter is painful, but it doesn’t define you it’s just another storm you’ll weather. You’ve rebuilt before, and you will again.

Stay calm, keep everything documented, and let your lawyer handle the fights. Avoid direct contact with your STBX, focus on showing the judge you’re the stable, positive parent, and use any time with your kids to reassure them you’re there for them. The more you stick to facts and stay composed, the stronger your case will be.

You’re not alone in feeling this way. It’s tough when you showed up with acceptance and commitment, and it still wasn’t enough. The right woman isn’t a fairytale she’s just someone emotionally mature enough to meet you halfway. She’s out there.

Don’t try to fill the space too quickly. Let yourself exist without a to do list for a bit. Sleep in. Take yourself out for breakfast. Go on a walk with no destination. Read a book with no interruptions. Let the quiet remind you that you’re still a whole person, even when you're not working or parenting. If rest feels too weird, maybe dip into something that refills you, journal, catch up with a friend, go to a movie alone, or just do absolutely nothing. You’ve earned stillness. Let it be a soft…
