Well, you got downvoted, but at least you get the satisfaction of knowing that the dumbass was either pruned or so embarrassed that he deleted his posts.

Hyperbolic satire is getting boring really fucking fast.

Given this branch in the thread, you're not wrong. But I don't lurk enough to verify either way.

Or maybe she was just a psycho? Not everyone in the world is the same person.

I... know. I already acknowledged the ad-lib nature of the reading. Still not an excuse.

This is the worst reading of a document I ever heard. I understand that it's because he's playing the pronoun game, but still. Pre-edit the document and read that.

I wonder what they would say about a man who says they were raped. Probably "He's a man, so he's a rapist. Rape doesn't require a victim".

re·tard·ed rəˈtärdəd/ adjective less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age. very foolish or stupid. "in retrospect, it was a totally retarded idea" Yup sounds about right. People who take offense to this - on behalf a needlessly specific group of disabled people - are retarded. Edit: Source: Google query "define: retarded"

Yes, because you either don't understand (hence "not worth the effort"), or do and find some strange pleasure in needlessly dragging this out. And I'm not saying they should be fired for simply mentioning it, but you missed that too.

Eh. I would continue trying to explain, but it's not worth the effort. Troll elsewhere.

Ok, a lesson in reading comprehension and staying on topic. "Stop talking about personal issues at work" -AlexanderESmith "People have personal lives and pretending that you're two different people is neither healthy nor something that any normal employee does." - snyper7 "And is often seen as a security risk." -JoshtheAspie "... Ok, explain that. While you're at it, explain why someone needs to be 'two different people' in the first place." -AlexanderESmith The post above, right here. This is w…

Yeah, but you didn't pay any attention to the fact that their suggesting that leading a double life was completely unnecessary. Just needed to throw your incoherent two cents in. And for the sake of you not posting any more dumbass comments, allow me to get bent out of shape: Go piss yourself.

Your lack of ability to stay on topic is emphasized by your lack of understanding about how mentioning drug problems as a reason to not lead a double life is at all relevant to my questioning why not bringing up your family life at work is A: a double life in the first place and B: an issue in general. Amazing. You also failed to read each of my posts that state that I have no expectation that anyone leads a double life (and rather simply keeps their personal lives to themselves), and have also …

My workplace in general isn't sterile, but I try to be. Drama in the workplace is a headache, and personal issues at work is a great source of drama. Take this story, for instance. I interact plenty with my co-workers, but I limit the conversations to general plans (maybe I'm visiting a city?), current events (several of us watch similar shows and movies), and work-related oddities (some system is acting up, or a client is being weird). And no, it's not up to them to keep me in the dark, I'm jus…

... Are we comparing drug addiction to general, familial, goings-on? I'm not sure how that really compares... I mean, I get your point, I'm not asking anyone to lead a double life, just not broadcast every detail of the one they have outside of the office. But still, that example... O_O

... Ok, explain that. While you're at it, explain why someone needs to be "two different people" in the first place. You don't have to pretend to be something else, they simply don't need to know everything about you. Honestly, other than your qualifications, most co-workers don't need to know anything about you. Just politely tell people that you keep your personal life out of work. Your office is not a TV show where you need deep connections, moral support, and to dish on the latest drama, you…

The response to "How was your weekend" can be left at "Pretty good" (or similar). If it was more than that, no one really wants to hear it. If it was worse than that, they still don't. It's a pleasantry, a greeting, not a request for a 5-15 minute conversation they don't have time for AT WORK, where they should be working. You don't need to give people your life story every time someone acknowledges your existence. If I have a bad weekend, I'm not going to launch into a tirade about how little s…

If someone does anything that gives the company they work for a headache (in this case, a media disaster), they deserve to be fired. I'm a straight male and if my discussing my marriage (or anything else) is causing problems at work, getting fired would not be surprising to me. I don't care who you are, what you did, or why you did it. If you're a hassle, your employment status might change, and I don't blame the employer by default.

It's frustrating when people refer to behavior that is otherwise considered completely normal as "flaunting" when a gay person does it. Also, you're a moron. I literally just said my opinion was exactly the same for the straight guy as for the gay guy. Shut your manipulative, close-minded mouth before you start implying that I'm discriminating.

Didn't say hide, but I can't imagine a good reason why this would come up. Edit: And wait a damned minute, the DADT thing was completely different. Those poor bastards were going to be discharged if anyone found out. There's a big difference between a soldier just minding his own business and needing to keep a secret in fear and A: A guy who's grabbing for attention in the media by loudly announcing he's getting gay married while working for a catholic school and B: some asshole who is crying di…

Side-Side note: I just read that story, and it seems like bullshit (ie, made up garbage). My point stands, however.

Haha, I have no idea if this is true or not, but I've already posted in the thread about the gay principle and my opinion for this guy is exactly the same: Stop talking about personal issues at work. Sidenote: I still have zero opinion about the legality or morality of the actual firings. My basic message here is that these guys are idiots.
