I’m about 3 1/2 months out right now. I was feeling good about things at about three months. I hate to say it, but I really leaned on ChatGPT. I feel like it helped me tremendously, more than almost anything else. It’s scary, but I dove deep into myself with it and it has uncovered some things that nobody else has been able to. And I’ve had a Therapist since the divorce started aside from that probably the biggest things that helped me was having a good job and I started working out religiously …

This is my experience. I read that divorce is man’s initiation. It really did feel that way. Life isn’t easy like it was, but now it is far more enjoyable and fulfilling.

I am actually grateful that my X ended it, I never would have. I would have continued to over sacrifice and accept a life of mediocrity just to keep my family together. I realize that I fell in love with who I wanted her to be rather than who she actually was. I see her for who she actually is now, and wouldn’t associate with someone like her at all if it weren’t for our kids. I want nothing to do with her anymore. I even paid $2500 for this ‘marriage reset’ course to get her back in the beginni…

Thank you for those words. I’m in a similar position. I actually like my life now. Who I’m becoming. I’m almost wholly to a place that I’m grateful my X ended something that I never would have. I would have kept sacrificing myself indefinitely, and settled for a life where I wasn’t growing. I’m growing now, becoming someone I never thought I could be. I’ve got a long ways to go but I’ve also come so far already.

Cliché is right. My wife blew up our marriage when she had an emotional affair with my son‘s boxing coach. I don’t think it ever went beyond that. My son was right in the middle of it though he knew I wanted to take him out, but he liked it there. I think it was karma that it blew up in my exes face when my son told him that his mom likes him. He said oh really well I’m married and have kids, but your mom is awesome. She was mortified. But at that point, our relationship was over. It wasn’t fair…

Yeah man, you know that more time that goes on the more I realize that it was good for me. Hard to see the truth when you’re in the middle of it all. Now that I’m gone, I get to see who she really is and it’s not who I wanted her to be like I did for so long.

Dude I went through the same shit. Your story is the closest to mine I’ve ever read. I’ve been out 7 weeks now. Clarity/understanding came slowly of just how much I was carrying, how much I was sacrificing myself, and how unhealthy it was for me,how little she gave, and the actual type of mother she was after I left. After carrying so much guilt, It all was like a weight lifted off my shoulder that I’d been carrying for many years. Her mask came off, I finally saw how I was basically dragging he…

Divorce is total destruction for the man, cash and prizes for the woman. A man will sacrifice himself for his family, a woman will sacrifice family for herself.

Find every opportunity to compliment her progress. And to be encouraging. its most likely better to support her through this than divorce

Trying working out with her. Start walking together. Hopefully move up to jogging. Talk to her about your concerns but make sure you do it in the right way.

My mother bailed on us when I was 5. Wanted to go live her life. Saw her a couple times a year then she died when I was 11.

I mean to say, idc as long as it’s not someone my wife is overtly flirting with while she’s supposed to be watching my son box, who I’m not paying, and that I don’t have to look at everyday if I want to be involved in my sons boxing class. That would be a special kind of torture.

It was an emotional affair mostly in her mind, I think right at the start he reciprocated some looks but not much more. But it was enough that she thought she was going to be able to monkeybranch when she left me, so she pulled the trigger and blew up our marriage. the branch broke

Yeah, I’m getting a divorce in California and it’s all cash and prizes for the women apparently. Even with 50-50 custody I gotta pay for them when they’re with me and I gotta pay for them when they’re with her. And yes, alimony for life unless she gets married.

One option is go through with the divorce and then date her. That way you have the power and control over the situation. She gets demoted and has to prove herself to you again overtime and you take as much time as you want.

Shes probably fucking him already. Best thing you can do is draw your boundaries hard and fast. Save yourself. Don’t be a pussy she’ll never respect you. It’s the only way at this point. You trying to change yourself now for her isn’t going to move the needle. It’s not about you anymore, It’s about this other guy.

A while back My stbxw was trying to sell me some glorified idea of Coparenting she saw on Instagram, to help her feel better about blowing up her family. At another point she kicked me out of her house(actually belongs to her parents). Just yesterday she didn’t want to let the kids ride their bikes to see me and pick some stuff up bc I didn’t respond to an unrelated text Message as quick as she thought I should’ve. Then she texts me saying to drop the stuff off at her house and leave it on the b…

Well man, I’m just going through a divorce from a 15 year marriage with three kids. She had trauma that she never disclosed to me until afterwards just recently she has become someone unrecognizable rewritten our entire marriage and yeah, her justification for leaving me is based on a bunch of things that don’t hold water. Not to say I didn’t have a part in it. Yeah I’m getting kicked out of the house. She stays with her in-laws. I get nothing. I am on my own. Can’t even have the kids 50% of the…

That’s part of why I’m here. I’m never going back, I wasted enough time on games, had enough of my willpower sucked away by weed. That’s just me, to each their own. 🤙

I’d tell her thanks for cooking every meal. Everything she did I appreciated. Never did she tell me thanks for your hard work and sacrifices for us, thanks for being a good father.

Sorry brother. I’m just now ending a 14 year marriage too. I wish I had the awareness and communication skills to be the man she needed, but it would have been really tough regardless. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise somehow.

I’m fucked. I won’t find a better job than what I’ve currently got. Housing so expensive in so cal. No way for me to get 50/50 custody unless I found a partner that could help out

Yeah, she has created an unhealthy relationship with our son by using him as an emotional support. My work does dictate my possible visitation because I cannot adjust the schedule the problem with full weekends is that no place where I rent a room is going to want me to bring three kids over. I need to speak to an attorney and talk about options. Thanks for your comment.

Omg this was so helpful. I’m going through it right now I’m so glad I found this. When I saw that you are a kiteboarder I got goosebumps because I am too. I would love to talk with you. Please send me a DM. Wife just told me last night she’s done, not the first time but last night she doubled down on it in a way she hasn’t before. Please reach out🙏
