Do you have data to backup your claims about women? From what I’ve seen, men are more likely to be alcoholics, women don’t have more sexual partners than men, STD/STI rates is not much different when considering women are more likely to contract something since vaginas are more susceptible to disease, and nothing suggests women have more extreme fetishes.

You’re the one saying body fat is feminine. Which is ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/21 11:03 PM
1

Peoples can be obese and quite muscular. And they can be more attractive to some people. It depends on how fat and how muscular, though there’s always those who will like the extremes.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/21 04:46 PM

No one said bodies are the same. You are just incoherent.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/21 02:18 PM

Wait, I thought you said developed pecs were masculine. Now you’re saying a flat chest is masculine. But a flat chest isn’t a muscular chest. Narrow hips are masculine? But muscular men can have quite wide hipped and thick waisted. Low body fat is masculine? So supermodels are masculine? Swimsuit models are masculine? Don’t tell the industry that. As expected, you’re inconsistent with your bullshit concepts of masculinity and femininity. It’s laughable, really.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 11:57 PM

Oh, it’s the jiggle that feminine. Don’t look at gelatin.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 03:27 PM

Ah. I was wondering if you followed the idiotic “alpha/beta male” trash. Say no more.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 02:30 PM

“Mamboobs”, large butt, and large thighs are also features of very muscular men. Are those inherently feminine features? All obese men have “soft, high pitched voices”? What?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 01:32 PM
1

Morbid obesity is different. Being 40+% body fat is a VERY different look from just obesity (25% body fat). At that point I would argue that at extreme fat percentage people don’t look masculine or feminine.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/21 04:16 PM

Have you seen some guys’ pecks? Can like boobs, too.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/21 05:03 AM

Because the hormone change due to obesity isn’t significant enough. Once ones bone structure and body fat distribution has been set, being obese doesn’t make one look feminine.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/21 05:02 AM

With high levels, sure, but not the levels that come with being 25-30% body fat.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/21 05:00 AM

I think that while plenty of women like to cuddle with guys that have some higher body fat, women probably get away with a higher level of obesity due to body shape/parts.

Given the common idea of women not being explicit with their romantic interests, it does make it difficult to differentiate between friendliness and attempts at communicating romantic interest.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/07/21 12:27 AM
1

Nah. I run with a heavily non-monogamous crowd. Meaning people can pretty much always pursue someone. Despite the normal barriers you mentioned not being present, there are many, many friendships and great respect between men and women that never get sexual and where never intended to be sexual. And there’s also many work relationships between men and women that are full of respect and are not sexual/romantic. I’ve also known asexual women who have male friendships and the reverse. Now, in a nor…

The issue with your analysis is that Cooper would fit the definition of “alpha” in most ways.

I’ve already indicated that a relationship considers the other person(s). Prioritizing doesn’t mean neglect everything else, it means ranking something(s) as most important. You don’t don’t start a connection with prioritize someone else’s comfort and desires. That is how you get into embittered relationships. With poor and unhealthy expectations. With resentment that causes schisms. If you put your self first, others can win as well. It isn’t zero-sum. Prioritizing yourself doesn’t mean “taking…
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/21 01:33 PM
1

I don’t understand what you mean by zero-sum is this context. What is bad about putting ones own desires first when it comes to finding a partner? Why should I prioritize someone else when I don’t know them and there’s been little to no investment? It’s nonsensical not to prioritize oneself. You were the one to make the employment analogy. I just flipped your argument. Prioritizing oneself doesn’t equate to being dishonest, deceitful, or unethical. Everyone naturally puts their best selves forwa…

We all are thinking about ourselves, especially in dating. That isn’t a bad thing. Yes, consider other peoples feelings and such, but ones own desires should come first. And your work analog my is good, but in a different way. A smart applicant wouldn’t bet everything on one company. They would be applying to multiple places (in the same or similar field) to see what is the best fit for them. Same for dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/21 03:25 AM

I’m more aligned to group C in disposition. What’s wrong with having casual connections until it’s decided to be exclusive? As long as everyone is practicing safer sex practices and everyone is communicating, I don’t see an issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/21 12:25 AM
1

The issue I see with what you argue is that 1. Women don’t even flock to feminism and 2. There is a ideological movement of egalitarianism that seeks to promote much of the same ideas of equity that feminism does, but in a way that attempts to be more balanced than they claim feminists are.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/21 08:57 PM

That’s fair. I know little about Finland worker stats.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/21 02:56 PM
2

I somehow misread your post to specific mental health. That aside, 35% of dentists in the US are women. This is pretty much reversed with 30% physical therapists being men. Dermatologists seems to be more evenly split with 60% men and 40% women. Of course, as women increasingly outnumber men in uni and med school, those numbers will likely eventually all favor women. Of course, women already dominate overall healthcare workers (though not MDs) and so are essential to the current health care syst…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/21 02:36 PM

Given that women disproportionately represent those in uni and those who use mental health services while EVERYONE uses the services of the mentioned male-dominated fields, your comment doesn’t really hold up.

Yes, looks, hight, and finances play significant roles, but the idea that everyone not in the top 20% have no chance does not match reality

I’ve never understood the “looks scale” so I don’t know about that, but I have a gut and love handles (see:overweight) and don’t quite reach 6’. I’m confident and used to participate in competitive athletics, but that was many years ago I doubt people look at me and think high physical prowess. I do think I dress pretty well usually and am fairly well groomed. I’m sure that helps.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/21 03:36 PM

Not in my experience. I’m no Chad by any stretch and I do well enough for my desires.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/06/21 02:13 PM

I don’t know. I’m overweight and I’m having no trouble with having sexual connections (many fit and some overweight). What’s more, I have the same if not more sexual connections now than I did was I was younger and fit. You may be right if morbidly obese, but being overweight isn’t all that much of a problem, I don’t think.

Since you’ve mentioned economics, a two-income is often very needed for supporting a family and for mobility while having children. Tax benefits for married couples. Medical access. Aside from the romantic/sexual love and companionship.

How are you stating it isn’t a moral failing but also calling it degenerate behavior? That is a direct contradiction.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/21 04:38 AM

Nah. I do well and I’m hardly “maxed” or “high value” as defined by TRPers.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/21 07:25 PM
3

And much of the things women wear is for other women.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/21 02:45 PM
2

Yes, it’s often much better to be direct. While I personally usually keep all such matters to myself, it is entirely reasonable to share joys, disappointments, and concerns with those close to you. This includes for sexual experiences. Your boundaries are not universal or best. It also seems that you are missing that it isn’t just the actual act that is being judged, as I’ve mentioned more dimensions than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/21 11:05 PM
2

Except that isn’t actually a thing. “Just getting it” can work for one partner and not at all for another.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/21 08:22 PM
5

I think you’re intentionally being obtuse. People discuss their sex life with their friends. Partners can discuss your sexual performance with their friends and in general on social media (so your peers or friends may also know). Having short relationships and/or having few partners is observable by others. Come on.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/21 12:45 PM
5

Partners, friends, peers, family, internalized social concepts. Lots of judgement comes from lots of avenues. I mean, this is well established stuff.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/06/21 02:10 AM
23

You’ve put so much incorrect information in one post. Very many people, women included, DO NOT talk about what turns them on or what they like during sex. Men’s manhood very often IS judged based on sexual prowess and performance. It is very “natural” to have anxiety regarding sex and the idea that one’s anxiety in such a situation “has nothing to do with sex” is so far off base you aren’t even in the stadium anymore.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/06/21 11:00 PM
1

For a few of them, perhaps, but that doesn’t account for the disproportionate representation. Fishers, pilots and flight engineers, roofers, garbage collectors, delivery drivers, farmers, firefighting supervisors, power line installers/repairers are 8 of the top 10 most dangerous jobs as determined by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. Most are male dominated fields and it isn’t because they are on average physically stronger than women.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/21 04:03 PM
3

It is both class AND gender issue. If certain jobs NEED doing and 90+% of the workers are men, you can’t just argue it’s a class issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/21 02:31 PM
1

Well, that explains why I have no issues. Dang.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/06/21 12:17 AM

All connected to how someone makes a other feel. You have to have similar morality, virtues, and values to see and appreciate them in someone else.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/21 01:54 PM
2

Oh, absolutely. The “my way is THE way” is a common thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 10:18 PM
2

I think there are two major things (well, more, but two come to mind first). Women are socialized to be caretakers and home makers. They have certain standards and approaches and view them as the “correct” way. Many men don’t get taught how to clean or cook and so they DO need help for a better quality of life. But this shouldn’t HAVE to be a partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/21 03:11 PM
5

Nah, not the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/21 07:36 PM

I think you’re mixing demographics. Progressives and leftists generally oppose imposed gender norms for women AND men.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/21 04:38 PM

It depends on the conceptualization of progress, but it agree that not all progress is necessarily good. I’m familiar with Haidt’s work, but thank you. It is a solid recommendation for those who are unfamiliar. With that, the works he and his colleagues that focus on moral foundations don’t really present an argument that necessitate “both to keep each other in check”.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/05/21 03:09 PM

How about marking the original comment as misinformation until they provide empirical evidence that there is no sexism in the sub?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/05/21 03:02 PM

Not weird at all. The idea of conservatism is to try to remain the same or even revert back. Progressivism is for change, by definition. To advocate against progress and for maintaining or reverting to that which has been oppressive to people can very sensibly be seen as hateful.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/05/21 11:30 AM

I don’t know about that. Lots of people talk about really fucked up stuff as long as the audience seems receptive (and even when not).

While data suggests that those in poverty are 12x more likely to be raped or sexually assaulted, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen any data that says perpetrators are also predominantly poor themselves. On what do you base the notion that men in blue and white collar jobs don’t know such perpetrators?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/05/21 11:54 PM

It arguably has a lot to do with sexism and the perception that the feminine is less desirable than the masculine. So while it is offensive to homophobes that anyone would break away from the sex and sexuality norms expected of them, it is particularly harsh on men who are now seen as feminine as this is an affront to masculinity.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/05/21 09:30 PM
4

Is it trending, though? And is it satire or meant to highlight a perceived double standard? Or is it making the claim? Honestly, the most common thing I ever hear is that you CAN’T change a person. Though it is very common for het married couples to be positioned as the man needing the woman to teach him how to housekeep. Unfortunately, historically, this would often make sense, though not so much anymore.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/05/21 02:09 PM

Nah. There is definitely issues of style, type of picture, and not all OLD apps are the same. Bumble and OKQ, for example, have far more to do with other factors than apps like Tinder.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/21 03:03 AM

What codes particular roles as masculine or feminine? What makes men and women have to adhere to their assigned roles, respectively. What room, if any, do you give to social differences based on time and context?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/05/21 09:36 PM

What is masculine and feminine behavior and who defined it as such?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates15/05/21 09:29 PM

Sooo, just saying “oof” isn’t the way?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/05/21 11:32 PM

So then they ARE both transactional. Not_atworkrightnow seems to disagree with that idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/21 10:24 PM
1

Why is the sex not considered transactional? The friendship, connection, and vulnerability can all be the “actual desire to be want to be around the other person”. Is “hey pay up or I’ll find someone else who will” any different than “hey put out or I’ll find someone else who will”? But I agree that unreasonable expectations and just straight using people isn’t the way.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/21 09:34 PM
-5

No need. While OP but in a “not all wo/men” disclaimer, that doesn’t change the message of a claim to general inclinations in the title and then again in a reply to my previous comment.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/05/21 08:29 PM
-6

Well, OP did suggest that women are inclined to said behaviors while men aren’t.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/05/21 07:57 PM

I mean, women socializing and gossip IS characterized as toxic. Also, are women uniquely inclined to socialize and “gossip”?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/05/21 07:21 PM
1

Well, I had no intention of disproving that sex is important for some (maybe many) in their relationships. I agree that everyone in a relationship should feel fulfilled.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/21 05:20 PM
1

Why is it so different? Both speak to physical and emotional needs/wants, yes? It isn’t just men, women often also want to be sexually desired in a committed relationship. That isn’t complicated at all. The complication for me is when one seem to stress the legitimacy of one desire/need (sex) while denying another (security). If one doesn’t do as such, I’m good.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/21 04:52 PM
3

Is sexual attraction in such a different category than material security? Why do you seem to make one an acceptable want but not the other?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/05/21 04:27 PM
2

Not necessarily. Asexual and aromantic people exist and have relationships that aren’t “just friendships”. I’ve been struggling with defining and categorizing types of relationships for myself, so I can’t explain or define this for you, but it seems clear that there is SOMETHING different.

Actually it is. Especially with the anti-intellectualism that is arguably alive and well. Formal education attainment only brings prestige if it also comes with money or, to a lesser extant, is associated with top prestigious institutions (e.g. Ivy League schools).
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/21 05:44 PM

You’re arguing for the sake of arguing. Clearly income plays a significant factor, just not the only factor. Prestige association, social circle acres, and conception of high society play roles, but come on. Things aren’t so clear cut as you are making it out to be.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/21 02:24 PM

Nah, that’s just an elitist mindset talking. At the end of the day, money is the most significant factor, not formal education.

Except the arguments I’ve presented haven’t been “well rebutted”. You just have the position that you like and/or agree with. Same as me. It is a privilege to not HAVE to go to war. It isn’t a privilege to not have the choice to enter the armed forces if one wants to join. While a shitty thing in our socioeconomic system, let’s not forget that many in poverty saw the military as a way out. That way was blocked from women. An obligation to own property? To accumulate wealth? No, that is only an o…

I do understand the social expectations. Which is why my previous comment mentioned that men who stayed home faced social sanctioning. This sanctioning is due to going against expectation. The difference that you seem to ignore is that while both men and women faced social sanctioning, women faced additional opposition in the workforce (like verbal abuse, assault, or just outright refusal to be hired). Though far less frequent than in the past, this additional opposition still happens is far mor…

This universe. The instances were men couldn’t stay home was/is due to class issues and institutional barriers to women working or earning necessary income that would allow the man to stay home. In what universe do you live in that men were physically forced or threatened to leave the home and enter the workforce?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/05/21 11:38 PM
-4

Women were also denied entry into service. Women fought for the right to enter into the armed forces. And this is more a class issue. Rich men were the ones that established this requirement. It’s strange that you think it is a privilege to be denied options. The idea that men had to provide for women in a one-sided setup is simply false. Historically women have participated in significant amounts of labor, it was just wasn’t paid or was underpaid. But assuming you are correct, perhaps if women …
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/05/21 11:25 PM
-6

While I absolutely agree that men face oppressive struggles, I’d argue that most that reject personhood are more class or race oriented and those that are sex based for men in general, they aren’t attacks on personhood. Men were allowed to stay home and take care of kids, even if socially sanctioned. Women were institutionally and/or physically not allowed in the paid workforce (depending on the work and point in time).

The issue, of course, is that all inquiry is inherently political and inherently biased. The notion that “the feminist methodology” is within the viewpoint that women are an oppressed group is not separate from the authors “humanist feminist” perspective that women should be treated as full human beings with autonomy. The point is that women as a group have too often NOT been seen as full human beings with autonomy. To recognize that in one’s work can serve to make better work. Philosophy is not…

How does one measure “overall”? The point is people have aspects easier than others. When looking at these different aspects, one can decide if it’s easier “overall”, which is usually determined by ones opinion on the most important aspects. Few would argue that men have it more difficult than women in EVERY aspect.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/21 09:56 PM
1

Sure, hard work is hard. Which your previous comment suggested wasn’t the case. But thinking that other groups have it easier in specific regards isn’t shallow or mutually exclusive to doing the difficult work or introspection. Not sure why you brought that particular thing up.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/21 05:48 PM
2

It isn’t shallow to fall into our socialization and doing the work to oppose it is difficult and not always successful. But I agree that we’d all benefit from introspection, critical mindedness, and intentional actions rather than passively going along.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/21 05:20 PM
1

Or they are going along with their socialization, as many (or most) do. Men and women are socialized to value different things in others and in themselves. One can’t argue that women are socialized with unrealistic body, sex, domestic expectations over intellectual and employment ones AND argue that men put just as much value in intellectual aspect as physical and domestic skill.

Obligation comes in multiple forms. There’s legal obligation, but there is also moral obligation. When you say you want to help, what is the root of that desire?

Remember that men die earlier and are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes. I’m wondering what, if any, this notion of “being the protector” plays in those statistics.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/21 12:18 PM
5

Sure. But one shouldn’t deny that there are gendered trends. Yes, human agency is a thing, as is socialization, as is biology. Trends existing means one can speak in generalities on select issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/21 05:46 PM
2

Arguable. One can find trends within groups, even gender groups.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/21 05:13 PM
1

No, it wasn’t indicting of fitness. I’d argue that at least 15% body fat would be ideal in that time period to be fit for survival. Hunter-gatherer societies would have far less regular caloric intake and a visible six pack would simply mean low body fat, not cardiovascular health, not strength, not mobility, not flexibility, nor any other measure of fitness.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/21 02:15 AM
1

And in context of pre-agricultural living, a six pack is not indicative of fitness. What time frame are you talking about, exactly?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/21 01:27 AM
1

wut? Given the general sedentary life of most people in the US and Western Europe, don’t act like people with visible abs must be fit.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/21 01:07 AM
1

No, it isn’t. All it is a marker of is low body fat. You can be very week with terrible cardiovascular health and still have a six pack.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/21 12:10 AM
1

No one said anything about being obese (I assume that’s what you mean by your asinine reference to “fatasses”). Having a low body fat percentage to the point of a six pack is not a marker of fitness. That said, having around 15% I’d guess is the lower end of ideal if we’re talking preagricultural living when we couldn’t as readily control caloric consumption.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/21 03:03 PM
2

Having a low body fat percentage means you’re more susceptible to famine and general food scarcity. This is not an attractive trait or state of being in an evolutionary biology perspective. It’s a social idea.

On what do you base the claim that “these standards” evolved out of biological preference? A six pack (i.e. low body fat percentage) is not a “biological preference” as it would be indicative of lower chances for survival.

Rather, they BOTH were willing the small risks of complications to have offspring. The relationship itself could be satisfactory, but that one relationship isn’t the only relationship that exists.

Formal debate is all about specificity. But informal debate should have no assumptions about implications or anything else as informality means no standards of rules apply.

Absolutely. In general public discourse, it’s far more acceptable to shit on those seen as having more privilege. So it’s petty much a free-for-all on White, cisgendered, heterosexual, native-born, neuro-typical, able-bodied, wealthy men. Drop some privileged identities and you’ll have more backlash fo shit talking that group. Of course, still plenty of racism a sexism and such to go around. It’s just less explicitly publicly acceptable.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/04/21 07:34 PM

Nah. Goth started as a UK thing, then a US thing. Suburbs don’t have a monopoly. I’m not interjecting PC anything. I’m noting my personal experience and the reality having grown up in a major US city, being active in the Burner community, and having plenty of goth friends.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/04/21 07:10 PM

Sure, they can originate from a certain group. Which, if you read very closely, I clearly noted the UK origins. But that doesn’t change that a subculture can include people of a variety of ethnoracial backgrounds. Goths aren’t monolithic even in terms of music and esthetic. Why argue for it being the case regarding race?

Having many, many queer friends and dating many queer women/femmes, most have expressed how much more difficult it is dating women to dating men. I know that in my experiences dating women, in most every scenario, it either started out or eventually became the situation where I was expected to drive, pick them up, do more of the purchasing, do more of the date planning. When the femme/woman took that role more frequently, it became a problem for them.

It’s less about proving people wrong and more about qualifying (and/or quantifying) the claims. How common or likely is something to happen, not does it happen at all. That is the more meaningful place for discussion.

Alimony is based on income, not sex. Child custody usually goes to the mother, very true, though it’s also very true that in most cases the father is in support of the mother taking on the greater parental role and so more custody time. The rest of the comment is a repeat without explanation.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/21 03:28 PM

In that line of thinking, it would also be true to say that women don’t want a man that earns more than them. It doesn’t matter if it is all women or not, it’s still true, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/21 02:09 PM

What you’re talking about is esthetics. I’m talking about the physical sensation of cuddling. I’ve been in positions of having visible abs and a “dad bod”. The enjoyment of cuddling was far more verbalized when rocking the “dad bod”

You’re making a positive assertion of the psychology behind the act of penetration by making an appeal to biology, though this doesn’t have to be the only perspective of penetration. With that, I agree that many would see penetration as you’ve described.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/21 02:28 AM
-1

Yes, it’s about penetration, which is the primary mode of sexual intercourse and impregnation. And this is primarily done by men to women. Which primarily positions men’s sexual lives as inherently invasive and violent and women as vulnerable.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/21 01:49 AM
5

The last point is among the most salient, I think. The biggest issue is the conceptualizations and perceived victimhood many women harbor. Victims of sexual assault are far more likely to be assaulted by those they know and not some stranger trying up pick them up at a bar or by some random attacker. Despite this, the perception is women need to always stay vigilant in unknown and solo contexts. This mentality leads to the kind of perceptions of men that you describe. It’s also interesting that …

The scenario isn’t that the woman wants sex and the man refuses. The scenario in discussion is when the man is initiating sex, he is trying to engage, but is rejected. But it seems we agree.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/21 01:06 AM
2

Why can’t men do what? If the scenario is the man is trying to initiate sex and is being repeatedly rejected, what is he to do? Communication goes both ways and surely he should speak up and be curious, but, again, the driving force should be the one without the desire as that is far more efficient and productive. The person lacking desire and enthusiasm is the best person to know what is and isn’t impacting their desire for sexual interactions.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/21 12:13 AM
3

Because it is far easier for the one who lacks desire to figure out what they need, or at least be the driving force behind it, than it is for the other party to wander in the dark trying to figure something out. Perhaps the man has become less desirable, or is turning the woman off. How would he know unless she tells him? What defines a “normal” sex drive? Given the high numbers of dead bedrooms, it seems a lack of sex is well within the norm of married heterosexual couples.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/21 11:17 PM
26

Studies suggest that many people, but especially women, need to engage in sexual activity for the sexual desire to kick in. Be sexual and you’ll get sexy feelings. The “why” can be for many reasons, including poor communication and lack of understanding of the parties involved. Let’s not blame the men, alone. And when one person wants sex and other doesn’t, I’d argue it is more the responsibility of the party that doesn’t want sex to drive the figuring out of the problem. And given the very high…

/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/21 11:39 PM

I think this is just confirmation bias on your part. The US is a pretty anti-fat society, despite 40% of the population 18 and over are medically obese. A few points: 1. it’s almost exactly equal of 39% of men and 40% of women being obese 2. medical obesity isn’t necessarily registered as being “fat” as being obese is a pretty wide visual range 3. The pressure for men to be fit is also very significant

I just don’t understand where this 80/20 rule has any actual support for existing. I live in one of the largest cities in the US and so theoretically there would be many “high value” men with whom I must compete. Average Joes like myself have little problems finding women (or men). I myself am hardly “high value” as defined by TRPers and yet I’ve had dozens of sexual partners and more than a few are considered quite attractive by others. Except that hair loss and thinning hair impacts 50% of women and 40% have noticeable hair loss when they are between 30 and 40 years old. Sure, it isn’t to the same extent as men, but women’s hair loss is a significant thing but more likely covered. And I’m talking youthful appearances, as in hair and skin youthfulness, not eye and chin size. No one sees a 40 year old and thinks she’s 12 because of her features. Similarly, no one sees a 12 year old and thinks he’s 50 because of his jaw line.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/21 12:37 PM

Yes, because women dont have thinning and grey hair. You all are really falling for the heavy cosmetic efforts by many women.

Nope. Take away the makeup and have similar lifestyles and men will stay looking more youthful than their same-aged female counterpart.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/21 08:03 PM

Men retain higher levels of collagen in their skin so stay looking younger longer. Also, men generally haven’t abused their faces with makeup like many women do. I’m not sure what the sun exposure differences would be, if any notable differences exist.

It isn’t about race or Western culture. Rather, it has a lot to do with Calvinist (aka puritanical) Christianity, specifically. It’s more the reason for paying and about the context that so many find themselves as sex workers. She then worked a “well paying” job, but earned less than minimum wage, and her first husband took all her money at some point. She then remarried to another teacher and, with no assistance (the new husband doesn’t count I guess), owns property in one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country along with property in Lima. And can afford to own a home in Manhattan? Where the median home price is a million dollars? Suuuuure. And this is what you base your view on how people at 40 should be well off unless they’re “idiots”. Ridiculous I also love the narrative switch of your mother going from a “well paying job” to now “worse than minimum wage”. Convenient for making a point, but inconsistent.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/21 03:27 PM

Again, your naïveté is showing. Note that job markets are not the same everywhere nor are there enough “well paying” jobs for everyone to afford to own a home in Manhattan. Being beautiful and on TikTok/IG or YouTube isn’t a fast track or guarantee to being rich. Such result is a reality for few as it is actually very unlikely for people to make a sustainable livable income on such platforms. It’s also uncommon for people to be totally “self-made” but instead had much assistance. Assistance that…
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/21 03:10 PM

No part. Noting someone’s naïveté or delusion doesn’t necessitate offense. But to answer your actual question: 1. The US isn’t actually a free market economy 2. There are many, many barriers to escaping poverty that are not dependent on failings or idiocy of the poor person.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/21 02:47 PM
6

You must be incredibly naive or outright delusional.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/21 02:40 PM

Nah. I’ve been in the situation where my romantic/sexual feelings were not reciprocated and things are just fine as friends. Similarly, I’ve been in situations where I did not reciprocate someone else’s romantic/sexual feelings and have remained friends. This is a scenario that is quite common and it isn’t abuse or exploitation. Jealousy is an emotional to be handled like any other. It isn’t an emotional space one should occupy for a length of time.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/21 04:07 PM

Again, testing if she is “actually bisexual” by your standards is pretty terrible. Your assumption of her LARPing and your claimed implications are terrible. It isn’t your place to determine if someone “actually” identifies with their sexual identity. You can feel justified as you like, but I can also find your application of ridiculous standards terrible.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 10:29 PM

I’m no empiricist. But I’m very suspect of anyone presenting ideas as truth, objective fact, or with certainty when the conjectures are far from being generalizable.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 10:16 PM

Perhaps, except that wasn’t your given reasoning. Initially, you presented your question as a way to test her to see if she’s actually bisexual by your standards, not to inquire as to how her sexual identity will impact your relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 09:15 PM
2

But on what do you base the claims to the existences of said essences? What evidence is there to Jung’s or anyone else’s ideas of a “Truth” regarding gender? Why should I believe these to be accurate? On what authority should anyone give these ideas the least amount of credence?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 09:09 PM
2

Why? If it isn’t about sociocultural issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 08:26 PM
6

It’s pretty terrible to question a person’s identity like that. That aside, there’s plenty of reasons for a person not to have acted on all aspects of their sexuality. It doesn’t make their identity claim any less valid. For instance, I had a friend who identified as queer for a decade, but didn’t act on that queerness with another man until he was in his thirties. Seeing how he interacted with his male and female partners would guarantee few would doubt him being sexually attracted to both.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/21 08:22 PM

It’s a common occurrence. Bi men have a much harder time finding a woman who is good with their bisexuality than bi women do finding men. Perhaps because of the common male fantasy of two female partners at once, I don’t know.

No, it’s absolutely both. Given the number of women who have been victims of sexual assault as well as harassed and that most perpetrators were known by the victim, the 1% narrative you’re presenting is clearly wrong. Yes, we must also teach everyone to be safer. Imaging the scenario to give support or “evidence” to the idea women have a natural biological drive to be with “strong” men is absolutely a trend in TRP circles. Lots of little fictions are necessary to support such a world view.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/21 01:24 AM

I think it very much is in line with some people’s fantasies to imagine a scenario where a woman is sexually victimized and has a “weak man” fail to protect her, so now she only goes for “strong, masculine men” to protect her. I’m sure you’ve seen as such in TRP circles. Come on, now. The way you present your account reads like a terrible after school special.

The Pareto principle is misapplied to dating/mating in humans. There’s really no reason to believe that it applies. If the Pareto principle did apply to human dating/matin (which it doesn’t), you’d be wrong. You’re assuming that there is a purely objective measure of attractiveness and ignoring the social factors. IF the principle applied in this context, then it would stay the same 80/20 regardless as to how much everyone increases their “attractiveness”. That is how the principle works, it’s a…

So what, then? It’s only misogyny or racism or anything else if one explicitly says “I hate this group” or “I’m a misogynist/racist”?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 10:22 PM

Then we’re back to that start. When can it be or when is it, then?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 09:54 PM

I think I understand your position. Let me see if I can clarify. Are you arguing that all value judgments are inherently subjective and not universally applicable? So pointing out differences in character qualities are neither good nor bad in any way, they just are value-neutral statements? As such, generalizing statements about qualities ascribed to women can’t be misogynistic, correct?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 04:35 PM
1

It’s important to note that race is a social construct and so such biologically essentializing statements about any ethnoracial group as an all encompassing fact will never be correct.

Being oneself, being healthy, having a supportive partner, and being honest and open are all “worth the risk” of not having a relationship work out. The measure of a successful relationship isn’t duration, but the quality of that connection.

There is no definitive take when looking at things through a cultural relativism lens. But since were talking about the conceptualization of introspection in the context of this culture, that’s what matters in this discussion. I don’t understand why you’re still going on this line of commenting.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 05:48 AM
1

OK, but not a particularly meaningful point to make in this post seeing as introspection is being regarded as a positive. The argument for or against objective goodness or badness is ongoing. Cultural relativism can most always be considered when need be. I don’t think this is one of those times.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 02:02 AM
1

Your comment wasn’t very clear, but I think you mean to say that there are cultures that view introspection as a negative (e.g. it takes focus away from a deity). If I understand you correctly, even in that case, we aren’t in such a culture.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 01:36 AM
1

No, I’m familiar, as I’ve been in circles that are like as you describe as well as many others that are not quite as extreme, though I think you would still consider them as such.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 01:12 AM
1

No, the ability and drive to be introspective, self-observing, and self-critiquing, particularly as being represented in the context of this post, are positives and desirable qualities. Let’s not be disingenuous now. These qualities are being shown as positive and something that men do while women avoid “like they are lethal”.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/21 01:09 AM
3

“Separate but equal”, huh? When you ascribe negative qualities to a group, that is less, yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 07:58 PM

Probably more like unlucky you. Check who you are spending time with.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 07:57 PM

I see you ascribe to the Thomas Sowell school of thought. The problem is the essentialization and generalization. Th issues you describe aren’t a quality of Blackness or unique to Black Americans. Nor does it factor in the sociopolitical realities that promote such behaviors in some (e.g. systemic racism). While there is always a level of self agency, let’s keep perspective on the institutional pressures that aim to harm Black communities.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 07:56 PM
12

No, that’s racist. Conceptualizing Black Americans as pathological is a problem. Your framing is a problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 07:25 PM

No. But anything that says women are inherently less than men is.

See, it’s easy to absolve yourself under the guise of “speaking factually”. Racists say the same things of their racist ideology. The problem is it is impossible to speak so generally as a matter of fact for a group in this regard. And to do so while ascribing negative qualities, that’s akin to -isms, depending on the context. In this case, it’s negative quality being illegitimately ascribed to all women.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 07:08 PM
9

That’s a pretty negative view you have of women. Some may even say...misogynistic.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/21 06:22 PM

I’d say that depending on what the insecurity is, it could be a turn off. For instance, the silly idea of feeling inadequate for not driving or picking someone up after surgery is some fragile masculinity shit. If I were into men like that, I’d be turned off. Cheating is just a a sign of a shitty person. You aren’t the cause of cheating.

I split date costs on first dates. Plus, Robbie is pretty wealthy and I’m sure her tastes cost more than I can afford. Effort and paying aren’t at all synonymous. Effort would be planning a date and other logistics, not paying for a woman’s time. You don’t know how a guy would treat her, but the fact that you are not her and likely not at her level of fame and wealth, you can expect different treatment than Robbie receives and that isn’t unreasonable. This is really what this whole post is about…

Who’s “we”? To what behaviors do you refer, exactly?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/21 05:11 PM

Terrible analogy. You can lift, but without a systematic approach to data gathering you’re likely to fail at understanding your own body. What’s more, if you were to apply your personal experiences to how lifting should be, what the most effective splits and routines are, what the most effective load outs and the most effective motion mechanics for everyone or for the average person, you’d be absolutely laughed out of any gym or training facility.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/21 12:19 AM
1

Is the claim to a general consensus data based or again just on your passing observation? Individual observation is valuable and vital when it comes to small samples (like personal experiences) but not the thing on which to base generalized assumptions. You need systematic data gathering in order to even hope to make generalizing claims. There are far too many variables and biases at play to say that one’s incredibly limited personal experiences is what one can base their ideas of what women, me…
/r/PurplePillDebate28/01/21 12:16 AM
1

Sigh. You really need to work on that victim complex you seem to have. And if you read my comment, you’d see that I already addressed your silly statement. You can take observations and put them into personal application, but a reasonable person would recognize that their very limited personal experiences alone do not hold much value on understanding general populations. This is especially true when it’s regarding things not easily observable.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/21 08:15 PM

The average man in a city also isn’t a gang member. Plenty of IT people live in cities. Most of the US population lives in cities.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/21 08:11 PM

Personal limited observation applying to whole group dynamics? That’s so worthless it might as well as be noting. There is also a difference of observing and applying to your own behavior to test how it works doe you and saying that your limited observation does and should apply to everyone.

/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/21 03:53 PM

To be fair, the anxiety is heavily socialized as men are far more likely to be victims of violent crime. So it may be the case that a man can fully comprehend anxiety around personal safety. If in the dating scene specifically you’d be mostly correct, except perhaps for MM connections.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/21 03:11 PM

You’re conflating two things here. Whether women who engage in casual sex physically enjoy the experience (orgasm isn’t the only aspect of sex that is enjoyable) is one issue and it seems the other that you’re talking about is if men in general are “good” at pleasuring women (though women are different and one thing can be enjoyable for one and not enjoyable for another).
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/21 03:04 PM
1

You’re misapplying concepts of evolutionary biology there. orgasm don’t have to feel wonderful to happen, nor does one have to be erect to orgasm. Yes, the data does suggest that many women enjoy casual sex. Squirting is difficult to fake and it’s noticeably different than just urinating. So, once again, you’re wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/21 03:00 PM
6

That claim is based on assumed false reports, which means it’s meaningless. According to the CDC, men have more sexual partners than do women.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/21 05:27 AM
25

You’re assuming far too much about what it’s like to have a penis, which is ironic given how your posts starts. Men struggle with sexual pleasure as well. Plenty are aorgasmic, struggle with ED, have pain and discomfort, and fake orgasms (I certainly have faked them). Women absolutely impose and force themselves on men, while they are fully erect or not. Men are forced to penetrate by other men and by women. Debates on abortion aren’t hypothetical as men are still legally obligated for the child…

You’re making so many assumptions and ones that more align with Red pill guys than blue. I don’t care about “n count”. My ego isn’t impacted by exclusivity. I haven’t and wouldn’t cheat. It isn’t “my nature” to cheat. Men who cheat and use a “nature” argument are even bigger assholes for doing so. You have a very strange imagination. TRP isn’t spot on or verifiable. Hence my statement that RPers have heavy cases of the common problems of confirmation bias and the Dinning-Kruger effect. AAA and Pressure Flipping as a silly response to supposed shittests is just more bullshit (since you asked). I interact with many women, but no, I’m not one.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/21 01:40 AM
1

Uh-huh. Your response was exactly one I’ve received from another RPer, almost word for word, talking of canned responses. I’ve read, listened to, and watched plenty. It’s bullshit disguising itself as deep biological and psychological knowledge. How many hours of YouTube videos and podcasts, “articles” and subreddit posts do I need to read before it’s good enough? Because I don’t agree doesn’t mean I haven’t explored. But sometimes the shit just stinks too bad that one needs a break.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/21 12:34 AM
2

Of course the tone is shit, but that’s not where the bullshit stops and I think my initial comment made my position clear. Most TRP people I’ve seen, read, and listened to seem to heavily suffer from confirmation bias and the Dunning-Kruger effect. So much jumping to conclusions and garbage appeals to evolutionary biology and psychology. It isn’t surprising that along with the sexism there is so much homophobia and, perhaps less often, racism in TRP circles.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/21 10:19 PM

TRP is an asinine, overreach, misinterpreted, and misapplication of kernels of evidence.

Loyalty is to the relationship agreements between two people. Cheating is anything breaking those agreements. If the agreement is each can have sex with others, have a romantic relationship with others, and love others, doing so isn’t cheating (unless there was some sort of broken agreement around those things mentioned).
/r/PurplePillDebate16/01/21 12:09 AM

But that isn’t any more equal than saying any current outstanding debts are forgiven. Whether it’s all debts outstanding now or all debts as of five years ago or any debts as of ten years ago, your exact same argument about lack of fairness can be made.
/r/MGTOW215/01/21 06:31 PM

Except it isn’t “so simple” as that would make it impossible to do. If that is what is fair to you, then we’d have to give back all payments ever, no?
/r/MGTOW215/01/21 05:40 PM

What a twisted sense of “fairness” you have. Because one family sacrificed and suffered in a corrupt system so then should the other? Nah.
/r/MGTOW215/01/21 05:25 PM
1

No, the situation shows that people aren’t always entirely on their own. That people can sometimes have reprieve from a shitty, coercive system. That politicians can sometimes right wrongs and not leave their constituents out to dry under some misplaced sense of responsibility or honor. Sure, people can push back (and some do), but this is a much quicker and more direct adjustment that is within the power, and the responsibility, of the government to effect.
/r/MGTOW215/01/21 03:15 PM

The student isn’t breaking the agreement as the loans are being forgiven. A bunk, predatory, and dishonest system is justification for not honoring an agreement, I think.

Men are also scrutinized in more than just that one way. Perhaps you should actual state your point rather than simply being dismissive.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 05:43 PM

Which is OP’s point. You then say “get over it” and I (and others) say nah, that’s a shitty position to have. What more discussion is there to be had?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 05:34 PM
2

All of which feeds into toxic, harmful concepts, behaviors, and insecurities. Which was the point.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 05:32 PM
2

And yet it’s “BDE” and not “confidence”. You can’t just ignore the actual phrasing. It isn’t a separate discussion as the focus and valuation of penis size is specifically a point made by OP. Phrases that specially mention penis size is absolutely relevant to this discussion.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 05:05 PM
2

That’s fair. I put too much focus on continued comments by OP that shifted away a bit from a focus on just women. Though it makes sense given the context of heterosexual sexual interactions.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 05:01 PM
1

OP blamed society at large, not women specifically. And making comparisons in general isn’t necessarily a problem, as that can highlight issues of particular interest to some populations. The problem is when one disregards someone else because they think they have it worse. And of course you just think OP is being whiny since you ignore the problem with tying anatomy to praised personality and behavioral qualities.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 04:37 PM
8

Yes, but again, the phrase is based on the idea that having a large penis equates to confidence. Connecting the two. Placing a large penis as inherently better than not large. That’s a problem. There should be no generalized value judgements tied to genitalia outside of perhaps health.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 04:34 PM
12

That directly refers to the size of anatomy. Let’s not pretend like there is no relation. The phrase is based on the concept that confidence and security that comes from having a large penis.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/20 04:07 PM

Men’s bodies are also highly scrutinized. This “you don’t have it as bad as me do get over it” is such a terrible perspective to have.

Well, that isn’t entirely true. It seems that infants can die from a total lack of physical touch and affection. And people’s mental health can be significantly harmed from lack of social interactions. It’s strange that death is your only measure for needs.

For many, they are. We are social beings. Mental and physical health can suffer without such interactions. It’s strange to deny this fundamental reality of the human experience.

It is in the same way companionship and meaningful social interactions are. One may not die or be miserable without these, but some or many people will because it does seem to be ingrained in the vast majority of people.

Feminism is about equality. As with all ideologies, there are multiple iterations of feminism and while some forms aren’t about equity or equality, it fundamentally is about valuing the feminine equal to the masculine. Which is good for women and men. Except that didn’t happen to me at all. And evolutionarily speaking, careers and gym memberships aren’t a thing. Evolution would lead to a focus on physical prowess as that is what would provide resources and safety. Which, again, puts 20 year olds above 30 year olds.

I love how people disregard actual data for anecdotal (or TV shows) to confirm their own biases. And even if it were true, then one can adjust and say they are pretty even. The notion that most men don’t have sex and most women do just doesn’t seem to match reality.

In the beginning stages of the relationship would make sense, if the point of the relationship is the possibility of a long term, significant thing.

It is absolutely solid that people should have similar values if they want to be in a significant relationship. If two people value sex very differently, it is likely to cause friction in their relationship. I agree that it is best to have that conversation early or not at all.

Other people should not fulfill you, they should only add to your happiness as an individual. Don’t put so much value in sexual relationships. You can have friendships that are very caring and intimate without a sexual or romantic component. Explore what love actually means to you and question if you actually love these people that have rejected your (presumably)sexual advances. Focus on yourself. What does success, happiness, and fulfillment look like to you? Start there. TRP garbage will tell …

Eh. Statistically men are more likely to cheat than are women and in neither case is it all that high. If I’m not going to want potential partners to judge my relatively high number of sexual encounters, I’ll not judge them. And I’d say that there are far more factors that are detrimental to a romantic relationship. Plus, I’m pretty suspect of monogamy in the first place.

You don’t get a cookie since you missed my answer initially and now misunderstood it. So let’s try again, shall we? I don’t have interest in watching porn of a partner with their ex, though I wouldn’t mind and I can see the possible value for learning new tricks or approaches to things I can try with them that they have enjoyed in the past. Sometimes seeing it done is more valuable than being told. While it is true some men (and women) enjoy seeing others lust after a partner or need to think of…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/20 08:46 PM

Eh. I don’t watch any porn that I don’t make myself as I’m uninterested and think porn is often harmful (as an industry and culturally). Though if the production value was good, I don’t see why not. It may even be useful, much like game tapes. And yeah, I’ve heard that “biology” and “nature” argument before. It doesn’t hold water. But even in those arguments, the root is still insecurity, is it not?

See, I’m a man and I don’t give a shit about any of that. I bring to the relationship what I bring. Why would I care at all about a partner’s past relationships? The only exception perhaps would be noting behavioral trends that I like and want to cultivate or those that I dislike and want to address. The only thing I can think of as to why someone would care is due to their insecurities.

Incorrect. I said that the post was woman-hating (aka misogynist) and called it a shitpost. Never did I say what this was a woman hating subreddit nor did I say I was offended. What you should have figured out is that message boards aren’t monolithic nor are your dispositions the same as others. And to reiterate, MGTOW doesn’t inherently have to be tied to hating women. Wait, so what’s your point, then? They are still economically worse off after divorce, yes? So then what is the incentive to divorce? There is a reason that the majority of people on public aid are single mothers and their children.

“Logical” conclusion, more like it. An argument can be valid without being sound. With many, many unsubstantiated (and I’d argue false) premises, the arguments presented aren’t sound and Occams Razor (aka parsimony) does not apply.

I’ve “objectively” evaluated these subjective, absurd, and non-unique to marriage claims. And in any case, my comment wasn’t addressing the claims directly, but addressing the standpoint for making decisions. Rather than focusing on others and their imagined faults, focus on oneself. Internal motivation, if you will.
/r/MGTOW219/12/20 11:06 PM

Who’s talking about responsibility of anything? I’m exclusively addressing the claim that women are incentivized to divorce because they are economically benefitted. It seems that there are economically better off while married then when divorced. So where is the incentive?
/r/MGTOW219/12/20 11:00 PM

I don’t know what social money is. And I’m not cherry picking anything. I am directly addressing the claim the women are incentivized to marry and divorce because she’ll get financial benefits. It seems that it is men who are better off economically after divorce. Compared to while they are married, after divorce, women are more likely to be worse off. So the idea that women are incentivized to divorce because they can “take half” of the ex-husbands things (never mind her contributors, it’s all …

No, most teens (males and females alike) ARE sexual beings. That’s kind of the point of puberty, after all. BUT, teens (male and female) are over sexualized. The pressure to act as if they are adults, pretending to be ready for sexual relationships when so many can hardly handle platonic relationships, and adults lustfully pursuing teens are all aspects of over sexualization. Sure. But it doesn’t change that all healthy relationships, arguably, are about “secure attachment”, meaning that you should be secure enough as an individual that you can value your connections and see their benefit, but are not destroyed or devastated by them ending. People put too much stock in romantic relationships. So many in MGTOW still put too much emphasis on romantic relationships structures as it is from that lens that everything else is viewed. Friends also leave. Family also leaves.…

/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/20 01:49 AM

That’s my point. To argue some biological root for men wanting to have sexual interactions with young women before they want to have kids doesn’t hold up given that having sex with a sexually mature female human would likely result in children at any age until we had contraception. And actually, having sex with older women would decrease the likelihood. Or having sex with men so that there is zero chance.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/20 09:57 PM

I would add a qualifier and say that teens are OVER sexualized. Teens already are sexual beings naturally. We shouldn’t imagine that they aren’t.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/20 05:34 PM

If you rant to go the evolutionary route, there was no “enjoy sex before starting family” until contraception, which is very, very recent.

Most don’t know of this information, so while useful to consider for those that do, it isn’t a significant reason for the general population for those who prefer partners with lower sexual experience. Worrying that your partner will cheat on you IS insecurity. One could argue it is a reasonable insecurity given the data, but insecurity it is.

Very heavy culture and class bias in your claims to how things used to be. The idea of a submissive wife is not universal and for most, even today, a dual income is necessary for a family. And in what world were men unconditionally respected? Someone’s worth should be about more or really something other than having someone submissive to them. If working class men only valued themselves based on someone who was financially depending on them, it’s good to get men away from that shitty idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/20 08:22 PM

That “men will fuck anything that moves?” Yes, I’d say that is a sexist statement. I’m a man and I certainly would not, as I have standards. Try what again? Plenty of traits that signify sexual maturation as well as “strong” genetics are sexualized. Muscular bodies. Asses. Healthy hair. Large phallus. It isn’t strange or wrong.

Breast tissue development is a secondary sex characteristic for women that signifies sexual maturity and suggest sexual fitness. Of course breasts are sexualized. The majority of humans beings are sexual beings and there is nothing wrong finding the bodies of others sexually appealing (a few exceptions here, of course). Also, breasts are not treated the same as their genitals. It is far more acceptable to have exposed breasts than exposed vulva, whether we’re taking the media or in public.

/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 04:38 AM

If it’s communal focused, it isn’t “your money...your roof”. And the time and effort is for the community, not just personal gain. Your view is human nature is limited. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with wanting ones own biological offspring (in terms of the desire, the action may be different). But there is also nothing wrong or misguided to be completely fine or even prefer to raise children that are not biologically one’s own.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 12:07 AM

Not yet, but maybe later. I just am able to consider things outside of the very rigid and unsupported biological essentialism that you seem to ascribe. Why would even be angry if the focus is on the community rather than the individual?

See, but now you’re ascribing your flawed interpretation (aka opinion) of biology after having disparaged doing exactly that. Adoption is seen elsewhere in the animal kingdom.

You’re talking about different people, most likely. Of course there are plenty of hypocrites, but those who are about body positivity aren’t the same as those making fun of guys for being fat. Those who are sex positive (not just into having sec) don’t make fun of anyone for being virgins. Those who value consent (not just physical) will ask if if they can unload emotional baggage. The virgin and penis insults are more from other men but in either case, insults are meant to hurt peoples feelings…

For sure, and that makes sense given the history of women being judged very harshly for their sexual experiences/desires.

It’s probably best not to have the numbers conversations at all, really. What is the point? What gain is there? I’d say none. What potential harms can there be? Plenty of insecurity, jealousy, judgement, and conflict. Without a fundamental change in how one conceptualizes sex and relationships and/or without dealing with their insecurities, there is no “getting over” any of what you talk about. As for dealing with insecurities, it’s helps to remember that previous relationships don’t really matt…

You’re assuming what are “natural romantic fantasies” and perhaps miss that the original prince, Prince Charming, and the dream girls are all written by men. What is more, the issue becomes exactly that when it becomes the prevalent representation of a group. If there were the occasional MPD along with far more fleshed out female characters outside of that role, it likely wouldn’t be an issue that MPD characters exist. When the fantasies become the actual desire or when a stunted version of peop…

I’d simply call you a fool. Define “a decent man” and why you have that standard for decency. Sharing nude images with a partner is somehow indecent? Why? Do you have sex with the lights off? Through I hole in a sheet? Are you a never-nude? Granted, getting into sex work is viewed differently and you may be right that many people will have a problem with a partner who has been or is a sex worker, by why such negative views of those who don’t? Why does sex work = diminished value?

There are plenty of ex-TRP people. There’s a 10k+ subreddit, in fact. And the number of adherents doesn’t mean it’s accurate or true. 1G+ Catholics doesn’t make Catholicism true any more than 1G+ Muslims makes Islam true or logically sound. My point is that it doesn’t resonate and it doesn’t work any better than other approaches, depending on the people. To make it out like the ideas are THE TRUTH is bullshit. But what it does do is promote a harmful view of women (and men).

“Facts”, maybe. You are making some bold claims here that don’t really have much support. It is not uncommon for people to look for simple answers that confirm their biases rather than more accurate understandings. What do you mean RO is successful? What does it mean to be successful? According to whom?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/11/20 09:56 PM

Both. Too much essentialization and far too many assumptions regarded as “T”ruth. And yes, far too many people speaking with disdain and contempt for women without being called out, suggesting the acceptance of such disposition.

Confirmation bias is a simple concept that is not at all exclusive to psychology and also fairly easily noted. RP people like to fancy themselves as deeply knowledgeable of (evolutionary)psychology (even to the point of understanding women better than they understand themselves) and biology. The Dunning-Kruger effect is very applicable to RP people.

RP people use pop psychology to circle jerk to confirmation bias. It’s ridiculous.

Sure, it could be the case that a person who has experienced a sexual partner that they really enjoyed will have enjoyed aspects of that experience more than they ever will with you, but who cares? Why is that “crushing”? Penis size is only one thing. Why not freak out about the so many other aspects of sexual experiences that someone can do better than you? The question for me is always why certain things are such hangups. Which usually comes back to ones one insecurities. And the solution or w…

Add the word “comparatively”, then. Why mention that no one would refute the ratio when no one is? It’s one of the few things that everyone in the comments seems to accept and agree on.

I’m not sure if anyone has said that there were more sub men than Dom men. I certainly haven’t. My statement was this: The argument that there are so few Domme women because they are following their biological “sexual energy” of being submissive is not a sound argument when it is that case that there are so many sub men who are not following their biological “sexual energy” of being dominant.

According to whom? The CDC data is for up to 2015, so the last five years could show a difference in median number of sexual partners, I suppose. But would the last five years be such a significant difference and would it matter that much?

There’s no strawman. You have repeatedly said that most men are dommes(sic) and referenced the size of the subculture. How can you honestly make these statements if you are unfamiliar with BDSM? It sounds like you are simply jumping to conclusions based on... something. What makes you say that it is 90% biological? Why give so little power to socialization? You absolutely are essentializing T. Hence your 90% biology statement. Come on. Yes, T is the primary hormone associated with aggression, bu…

Your first language isn’t an issue here. You’re talking specific BDSM terminology and you’re acting as if you are versed in the culture. I didn’t say testosterone is irrelevant. In fact, I specifically said that biology and socialization work together. My question is to what extent it’s biological over socialization. That is, what is the greater driving force behind these fantasies and gender norms? I have looked into it and, as I’ve already said, testosterone is the primary hormone for aggressi…

A repeated “mistake” which would suggest the issue isn’t a typo but a lack of understanding, which matters in this context. And I already addressed your essentialization of testosterone without support. Lots of assumptions, you’re making.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 06:52 PM

You seem to be confusing your terms, which makes me really question your knowledge on the subject. “Dommes” is for women and “Doms” is for men. And YOU just said that the BDSM community is a minority of people and those engaged in Dom/Domme/Sub is an even smaller subgroup. Being sexually “aggressive” is NOT the same as being a Dom/Domme. On what do you base the argument that “the majority of men are dommes (sic)”? If you are arguing that the majority of men are more sexually aggressive than wome…
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 06:16 PM

I said that making a claim to a dominantly biological cause of sexual fantasy of dominance and submission due to a low number of dommes and comparative high number of male subs is a dubious argument at best. Especially given that there are plenty of male subs. But, as you point out, the BDSM community is a minority of people. So perhaps any argument based off of such a small (unrepresentative?) population isn’t a great place for an argument to start.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 05:11 PM

The variability hypothesis could account for the above, and said hypothesis is compelling on its own, but it’s problematic to use it as evidence for biological argument as it would be more an example of circular reasoning rather than support, I’d say.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 04:53 PM
1

Again, you make claims but have offer no reasoning. Testosterone is the hormone most associated with aggression, sure, but it’s a problem to essentialize sexual interaction to who has the most testosterone. Why are you doing so? Are the men with the higher T level on average tops in gay sexual interactions? I don’t know. Do you? So, again, the question is how much is due to biology and how much is due to socialization.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 04:46 PM

Who says women are much more experienced? From everything that I’ve seen, the average number of sexual partners is pretty even for people in their respective countries. In the US, it’s 6 or so for men while it’s 7 for women. According to the CDC, median number of opposite sex partners for people aged 25-44 for men is 6.1 and for women is 4.2. Which is actually to the exact opposite of your point.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 04:38 PM
2

I’d say that the best position would be to throw out the evidence as support for the biological argument due to lack of congruence with other evidence. Until the lack of congruence is better explained, the evidence presented isn’t really evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 04:29 PM
7

You say “actually” like that’s a fact. Ask a woman how often men claim to be dom and they are far from it. I wouldn’t doubt that they are more men with dom fantasies, but the question is if this is biological or socialization. Of course this is a false dichotomy and both always work synergistically. So the real question is which is the more influencing or dominant (ha) driving factor. The arguments presented for a biological dominant force to which I replied are unconvincing.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 04:23 PM
7

I’m aware. But again, the fact that there ARE so many men getting off on being dominated is evidence to the contrary of your point (ie our fantasies align to biological “sexual energies”).
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/20 03:08 PM
15

Wouldn’t the evidence you present (i.e. gender imbalance in the femdom subculture with far more interested men than women) be just as useful to negate your argument? That it is the case that many men do fantasize about being dominated, which goes against the standard gender roles. I’d also challenge the notion that being penetrated is necessarily the submissive role. Amazon position is a thing, after all. I’m also going to challenge the idea that PIV orgasm feels the best. Studies I’ve seen show…

I think the issue here is that you two perhaps don’t agree on the start and extent of the “entitlement”. In one (healthy)version, the idea is that when one has sexual interaction, they are “entitled” to want it to be sexually satisfying and enjoyable. They also feel “entitled” to want to have sex. Meaning that it isn’t shameful or devaluing. So: “It’s ok or even good to desire sex and I deserve to enjoy my experience.” In the other (unhealthy)version, the idea is one feels entitled to sex from o…

We’re talking about terms, not the state of being. Incel the term is used by the group it describes to describe themselves. That’s what makes it different and not at all hypocritical. No, any emotional related reason includes almost everything because one (generally) can’t completely isolate emotions. When something can be applied to most every situation, it becomes useless (or meaningless) for the purposes of analysis when attempting to make comparisons like you are. What is “mother’s insuffici…

Except that the term “incel” is adopted and embraces by those it is used to describe. While it COULD have included women, the male incel community has largely rejected women from the identifier. Which is why they generally have to include “female” qualifier. Statistically, self-describing incels are overwhelmingly white, heterosexual men. And, again, emcel is imposed on a group that include (unfounded)gender-based qualifiers to make it more easily put on women. As you just did. In your hypotheti…

The terms aren’t the same level of bullshit, no. Incel is a self-describing term for people (men) who are involuntary celibate. There are no other qualifiers. Emcel is imposed, focuses on women even though it could apply to men, and has so many absolutely ridiculous qualifiers and descriptors (like the amount of eye whites that show. What?). That’s a great assumption you’re making there between blaming being an emcel and abortions and really no way to isolate the variable enough to compare numbe…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/20 02:13 PM

Well, ignoring that emcel is a bullshit term, being an emcel doesn’t equate to abortions. What are you talking about? There are no characteristics of emcels that would lead to the sort of violence that has been linked to incels (like being a mass shooter).
/r/PurplePillDebate09/11/20 01:53 PM

Is it a privilege or is it due to the fact that incels are demonstrably more dangerous? How is “privilege” being defined here?

Nah. OP said the majority of advice given comes from the perspective of the top 20%, not that most people here are of the top 20%. It can very well be that a disproportionate amount of advice contributions come from a specific demographic, those pretending that they are, and/or that come from that perspective.
