1	Our problems began when we attempted to publish our findings The thing with FGM is that it's a Islamic cultural thing and not actually commanded by the Quran, and it's extremely destructive. While we know that circumcision involves removing some skin and having it heal further back on the shaft, FGM involves cutting off the clitoris entirely and then sewing together the labia majora as a "product quality seal" to tell if a woman has had a penis open her up or not.
