For sure. I think this actually extends well beyond dating, too. It's affecting people's behavior in general. Society is becoming super atomized, which I think is contributing to people's loneliness and lack of identity.

I partially agree with this. I think it really comes down to dating and relationships becoming commodified and gamified in our society like everything else has. There was a time when you'd meet people through friends, family, in your community, in your neighborhood, etc., and even if you didn't feel a romantic connection to someone, there was much more of a sense that you were obligated to be accountable for your behavior toward them and show a baseline level of respect for their time. All of th…

women are not expected to be okay with dating a man who has multiple other dating partners and an FWB. This is a pretty big generalization. Some people are fine dating people who are dating others, some people are not. You just have to figure out what you're okay with and communicate that to the people or person you're dating.

I feel like the answer to so many relationship problems is having clearly communicated and mutually understood/agreed upon expectations of one another. Housework, childcare, income, splitting expenses, weddings, children, vacations, date night, sex, lazy sunday plans, what's for dinner, who's cooking, any kind of boundaries... it goes on and on and on. You make a diligent and honest effort to clearly communicate, and then if an agreement can't be reached on things you consider deal-breakers, you…

Why don't men want western women? I've learned that any time I see language like this, with an assumption-loaded generalization ("men don't want western women") referring to entire subsets of the population (men, western women) in the form of an absolute statement, it should be completely ignored and is almost certainly nonsensical bullshit intended to make some people feel self-righteous while making others feel defensive or attacked. It's all over social media the last few years. Once you lear…

I think the "growing ideological divide between men and women" primarily exists online. In my day-to-day life I watch men and women interact constantly, and none of this shit comes up. I've only heard a single person spouting off red pill shit in the real world. Sure, men and women complain about each other and whatever, but in my opinion there isn't actually some kind of gender war brewing, even a little bit.

You're allowed to maintain those values. No one can stop you. Plenty of people do.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/02/24 04:36 PM

This is the reality. But people with a less developed sense of self crave being told who they are, what the world is, and how they fit into it, and in the most absolute terms possible. Hearing that every situation is different, that everyone has different preferences that can change from moment to moment or day to day, that no two people will form a relationship in exactly the same way, that what works for one person might not work for another, just doesn't alleviate the anxiety that comes from …
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/24 06:10 PM

Shhh the whole concept of every person and situation having their own unique perspective and preferences doesn't fit the narrative that there's some kind of secret immutable set of rules and that all women are manipulative liars lol.

I've noticed the proliferation of a certain type of language online where people make absolute statements regarding vague categories of people. Once you see it you can't unsee it. I basically disregard every single thing I read that's worded that way now because 99% of the time the statements are inflammatory or biased or designed to provoke anger or feelings of self-righteousness. Some (made up) examples: X group always does Y X group doesn't get to Y X group is always Y X group should stop Y "…

I've found that the most meaningful changes in my personality and character have come from random/unexpected experiences out in the world, both positive and negative ones. I think setting out to change yourself in a controlled way is very difficult because it's very challenging to really push yourself and your boundaries enough voluntarily to make a lasting impact. It's not impossible, but it's very difficult. Doing as much random stuff as you can and interacting with as many people as possible …

I've never really understood the whole thing with sex too soon ruining relationship potential... it seems kinda antiquated to me. If the relationship potential is there, it's there, regardless of how soon I hook up with someone. I've never liked someone more because I waited to hook up with them or less because I didn't... just my opinion.

I want to say... any hard-and-fast rule that's presented as some kind of metaphysical absolute truth that's cracking the code of relationships/dating/etc. I mean, think about the concept of a "purple pill". It's meant to be a blend between blue and red because the "purple pill" is the actual closest approximation of reality that can exist. The absolutist ideaologies, whether they pertain to dating, philosophy, religion, economics, etc etc etc are always incomplete because reality doesn't work in…

I believe that both some women and some men have a "roster" so to speak, but I think this whole story about putting them all together in a group chat to "handle scheduling amongst each other" is a complete bullshit redpill jerk off propaganda fantasy. My dad told me that when he was young he would date multiple women, and said "I would just tell them I was seeing other girls too and if they didn't like it we didn't see each other," and I think that's probably much more realistic. Granted, they d…

In my experience the general rule is that if a woman goes out of her way to interact with you for seemingly no reason then she's probably interested. By "goes out of her way" I don't mean that it necessarily has to be drastic or extreme. But if they appear to be smiling with no context (particularly if it's sustained longer than necessary. This also usually includes eye contact), starting random conversations with you (if there are plenty of other people for them to talk to, but they seemingly d…

This comment really exemplifies the kind of rigid thinking and pre-loaded assumption making of a person who sorts someone into a category the second they meet them and probably starts finding faults to be critical of immediately. Is there a connection between that kind of thinking and needing dating advice? I'm not a dating scientist, but my instincts say yes.

Or maybe western culture is more secular than not? And it's become extremely atomized as well. Especially in the US, the ridiculous obsession with cars affected everything from urban planning to how careers grow and evolve. Many extended families are scattered all over the map and go months/years without seeing each other and there's not much they can do about it. It's extremely common, and while I won't argue that any of that is objectively good, there's a lot more to it than "westerners only c…

At one point I learned to make my intentions or the nature of my interest in women known at the earliest reasonable opportunity. If I'm attracted and they're not it's okay and we can both move on without wasting much time. This has served me well. There are women who will mess with your head and lead you on. Not too common, but they exist. I guess for validation or free stuff or attention or because they're bored or because it's the only way they know how to engage with men. You can learn to spo…

I don't think men are "more individualistic". I think they're discouraged from sharing their emotions by other men and women (in general) and that makes it more difficult for them to form bonds socially. In my experience, women (18-40) have a lot of friends but cycle through them somewhat quickly, with a few at the core remaining consistent. I think most men basically just lack the temporary roster unless they're super social. Again, I'm generalizing and speaking from my experience in a Western …

I think it would be fair to define it as anyone who is spending time with another person with the concealed or indirect or unstated objective of winning their romantic interest. I think it's particularly important that there be a facade of some kind (usually friendship) because that's basically what differentiates it from regular old romantic/sexual pursuit.

I'm 5'7", averagely attractive, not much money and I've slept with 15+ women and been in 4 LTRs since high school. I have dry spells now and then but generally my experience has been totally fine. Where do I fit into those percentages?

I just want to say, the part about no girl wanting to talk about dinosaurs or history isn't true. Plenty of girls are interested in that kind of stuff. And some will enjoy talking about it with you if you speak with confidence and passion because those two things are abstractly attractive irrespective of their focus! Hang in there and have faith in yourself as a person and enjoy your interests. In my experience, if a woman is into you she doesn't necessarily have to share all of your interests. …

it's the same with FDS and MGTOW. The whole script is about how little they care about/need validation and attention from the opposite sex, yet their ENTIRE existence revolves around ruminating about men/women.

You just admitted that you're going to kill what's inside of you and aggressively replace it with an inflexible ideology created by other people.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
