can confirm - my father in law has this situation - divorced from wife, had 1 kid. ex never remarried but has a 'life partner' they milk money off FIL for alimony. Said kid is in the late 30s now too and is OK with mommy taking alimony when he makes >100k a year. it's quite despicable.
