Date or no date, that's spectacularly shitty to invite someone out and just expect them to buy you a hundred bucks worth of food. Bullet dodged.

I don't remember specific examples, but it was always things that were either improbable or just psychologically difficult. Like, "going to that party is physically impossible," when it's within walking distance.

I once knew a physics major who habitually abused the phrase "physically impossible."

Autobanning was a bit of a scandal a few years ago. They denied it at first, but it came out that mods were setting up scripts to ban people who posted to certain subs even if you'd never visited their sub. r/trueoffmychest was set up in response to r/offmychest doing this. I got autobanned from r/latestagecapitalism, messaged the mods, and they asked me point blank if I was a socialist. When I tried to explain my politics rather than just give a kowtowing 'yes comrade', they let the ban stand. …

Sometimes fights are inevitable Actually if you're out of high school and don't live in a poor neighborhood, you can in fact go your entire life without ever throwing a punch.

I started actively avoiding shirts with any kind of writing on them a couple years ago because they attract attention. It's easier to be ignored and forgotten in a plain tee shirt in a modest color. But you might try, "I'm all set, thanks."

Zero Population Growth just means 'one child per person.' There will come a day where me, my brother, and his ex-wife are all dead, and his three kids are not. Be not so pedantic.

And? My genes aren't special. I have a brother who has three kids; I'm covered for zero population growth.

Get a bottle of Everclear, a case of Diet Coke, and a case of flavored seltzer (strawberry's my favorite, but orange and lemon-lime work well). One can of the soda, one can of the seltzer, one shot of the liquor, it's 25 ounces, about 5% ABV, and it just tastes like soda. If you're a lightweight and you only drink on weekends, $30 can get you soused for like a month.

Okay, there's another stage to this experiment that needs to be run. Picture of a male model, but fill the description with things that make him sound soft and weak. Like talk about crying at girly movies and feeling lonely and just wanting to be held and shit. And actually, maybe the picture should be a gay porn star. I predict that the number of responses will decrease slightly.

Actually, originally karma was used as an excuse to treat already unfortunate people like shit because they must've done something in a past life to deserve it. It became the more positive, forward-thinking idea later.

Respect is obedience. I see the definition a few comments up about 'a feeling of admiration.' Problem is feelings aren't relevant unless and until they manifest as actions. We can't read people's minds yet. It's not possible to distinguish strong feelings from good acting. The only way to truly know what someone is thinking or feeling is from the actions they choose to carry out. What action does respect manifest as? Obedience. Giving someone what they want. Paying attention. Giving them their s…

The more distressing aspect of this metaphor is that a man can choose the harder path and still, on average, get to the top faster than a woman.

Y'know how if you just sit down and fully relax, your knees kinda flop out a little? Supposedly women's knees don't do that because they have wider hips, no testicles, and are generally trained from an early age to keep their legs together. It's pure body mechanics, yet it's become a feminist meme to claim that it's some kind of sexist dominance thing and rail against it. There was literally a Saudi woman the other day who was pulled off a plane because her guardian didn't give her permission to…

No we dont have the right to have an opinion That's wrong. There's no polite or diplomatic way to phrase it, you're just wrong.

I don't think you have the authority to make such a comment. No authority is given or required for expressing an opinion. Maybe our purpose is to scout the planet for a superiour alien race. Maybe we upload data to the cloud while we sleep. These are nonsensical suppositions. When you get into the "should" and "purpose" its no longer a conversation. I'm not sure how you make that conclusion. Anyone can express an opinion. Anyone can discuss the cogency or validity of an opinion. I have no idea w…

That might be how it is, but it's not how it should be. The entire basis and purpose of civilization is to do better than nature alone.
