Hi Will130130, 💯 longer periods would do wonders. They way I like to think of autism is it’s the brain trying to process every single bit of information/stimuli It can. Autism just makes that process very inefficient causing a 24/7 dense of being overwhelmed or in a borderline state of FIGHT or FLIGHT. My son is 14 and mildly autistic. The biggest thing he struggles with are transitions. When my EXW and I separated we initially tried a few days with one parent and then switching to a few days with the other. He handled it horribly. This might sound lame, but hear me out. I’m currently doing a series of 5 running virtual challenges based on Lord of the Rings and Frodo’s journey with the evil ring to Mt. Doom. After finishing the first phase, they gave me a medal and a replica of “The One” ring. It just so happens my wedding ring is a similar size.
