I'm also an engineer, and I've noticed the exact opposite happening. Women and men speak up equally. Women and men are responsible for the same job duties. Three levels of bosses above me are women (including my direct supervisor). I have a very hard time believing any woman who says she is discriminated against, just as I have a hard time believing any man who says the same.
