I felt this on a deep level. When they’re gone, life isn’t that dark. When they’re here, it’s “you only did 4 things out of my list of 5. Why didn’t you do the 5th? I asked you to power wash the driveway and it’s still not done!” And in the back of my mind I’m just like “wow, it is actually peaceful on my riding lawnmower with my ear muffs on”

My ex wife did the same thing. Wanted to be free, her friends encouraged it. 2 years later and she is constantly messaging me and asking to try again, but I’m honestly happier without her. She made her choice and her freedom is her working a low end job even though she has her bachelors and realizing that I wasn’t as bad as her friends made me out to be. Jokes on you Sheila
