Seriously, this. I am all about books and self improvement, but I find that most of the time you are better off getting off you ass doing something, rather than over preparing and over analyzing things. Working out routines are another great example of this. Yes, you want good form and to get a perfect workout routine that works great for you, with a perfect diet as well. However, it is better to get your ass to the gym and start sweating, perfecting your routine as you go on.

Interesting concept, at least hobbies such as working out or playing sports would satisfy the 'fitness' needed to display the ability to protect. Even nerdy hobbies that could translate into specific desirable self improvement (i.e. Building things or even reading) could show display of increased provider abilities.
