I've been to many a theater in the US. The only ones that sound like what you're describing are the open-air theaters on military bases that play movies for free. But those are a lot better, in my opinion, because we stand for the national anthem before the movie and the people around us are all like-minded in patriotism.

I get the joke, but at this point I almost feel sorry for women. They have a good 15 years to fulfill their biological need before they hit the wall. Even worse, feminism tells women that they should worry about their careers more during this time, and, by the time they're ready to settle down for a family, it's too late. Stress has been shown to cause physical ailments. Pre-nups are worth shit in a judge's eyes. Pre-nups aren't honored across borders, and the judge and woman can claim, "she was coerced, under duress, or signed without mental capacity." Guess what? Same here. When my 4th grade teacher died of breast cancer when I was in 5th grade, my catholic middle school held a rosary circle thing. Everyone that was in 4th or 5th grade sat in a circle. I distinctly remember looking up and seeing all the girls crying and maybe a few of the guys crying. I wanted to be like everyone else and cry, too. I loved her as a teacher, but nothing would come out. It wasn't that my emotions were wrecked either because I knew I was sad, I just couldn't cry.
