It helps to consider the idea that a meaningful conversation can be had with a male friend, and isn't a requirement from your sexual partner. It's ideal if you can manage both, but if I have to choose one over the other, I'd choose the better sexual match with gusto. I'll leave deep conversations of philosophy and politics to my buddies in that case.

A shitstorm of magnificent proportions would occur. The legislation to ban such a device would make its way through Congress more quickly than the revelation of the hoax.

When have the admins ever demonstrated the smallest amount of unwillingness to swallow bullshit? I too fear for the future of TRP on reddit, but I'm happy to know that Puerarchy.com exists now.

Fantastic. I have an unofficial idea about subreddits I call the Rule of 10,000 where content becomes increasingly mainstream after about 10k subscribers and the subreddit loses what made it great. Please don't allow that to happen here! The Red Pill has been my favorite subreddit for quite some time now. I'd hate to see it go the way of seddit. Otherwise, great work guys!

I'm interested in seeing the movie, if only to use it as a tool to illustrate why the blue pill is poison to friends who don't get it. ...but I suspect I'd find it so horrifying I'd have a hard time finishing it.

That's a good example. But I think you maybe meant a word like "plethora" because dearth implies a lack.

I know someone like this. Even the most minor infraction, even if it's to their benefit is grounds for shock and outrage on their part. Unsurprisingly, they have selected a career in law enforcement.

Agreed, Funcuz is getting at the quality of the facial hair itself. I've never seen a lady-mustache and thought "Willikers! That's some luxurious facial hair!" But my old boss... god damn. Now HE had a mustache.

I agree. I'll never accept the idea that I should just "get over it." I'm perfectly happy, but it's never OK that it was done to me. I had no choice in the matter, and something intensely personal was taken from me. It's never happening to my children.

Oh god. That kills me. Both issues actually, but the second one has been on my mind lately. We had an opening at the company I work at. Since I work in tech, there aren't a lot of women. We started interviewing and had two female applicants, one who was totally under-qualified, one who was moderately under-qualified, and then we interviewed several males, including one who was a slam dunk for the skills we wanted. I (being a senior in my department and part of the hiring process) wanted the guy …

Considering the second story was a bullshit retail job, and that you managed to close the entire store by suggesting to weak-minded individuals that it was the end of the world... I'd have framed that write-up. That's the best laugh I've had all day, thanks dude.

I'm sorry you're being downvoted, that's not really what we're supposed to do with comments we disagree with. I do, however, disagree with you and I was wondering if you could explain part of your comment, or maybe just expand on it: Women have the short end of the stick on SO many things in this world that I tend to side with them on pretty much every issue, even close ones, with the mindset of "Yeah this might be grey area but I will side with her". Bah, the survival rates for breast cancer are pretty solid. For something like liver or pancreatic cancers your 10 year survival rate is shit! Shit I say! But breast cancer is a meme. It's an activity for middle class women to feel good about themselves while buying an overpriced piece of pink crap. It's not really about the cancers at all, just about feeling "involved" and raising "awareness."

This is false. It is just an untrue statement of the law. I'm also going to need clarification on this point. I'd like to know what you meant here. From the real world examples I've seen, if he doesn't want it and she does, then too bad he's paying for it. He has no ability to opt out of financial "responsibility" for the child, and she has the weight of the court and legal systems to enforce it.

What I got from that is that before doing the Vegas thing, he was at the top of his world. He had hit level 80. He had maxed out. Having been through this kind of cycle before, I can tell you that if it feels like there's nothing for you to strive for, it gets boring. Then he went to Vegas and found a new level to strive for. I think that's the meaning he gets out of it. It's not the wealth per se, it's the challenge. But I'm with you. Decent food, decent liquor, comfortable home and all the tim…

It's a little bit shitty, but at least he would be free of child-support at that point, right? Then he just has the battle of keeping some finances after the undoubtedly brutal divorce proceedings.

Whoa, no. Not even if he's paying child-support (dubious) or alimony (outright bullshit). Because though the children should reap the benefits, the ex should have NO relationship to his good fortune whatsoever. He owes her nothing.

There's also a huge pressure on people to "be more accepting" and they are constantly reminded "you aren't perfect either." My circle of friends insists I'm too picky, but of the potentials/ex's I've cast aside the ones that my friends have actually dated have come to the same conclusions I did... it just took them much longer (a year and a half in one case.) It's a pretty lame game and I think what it represents is incredibly, mind-bogglingly stupid... but it doesn't worry me that much. Games are games. I've killed plenty of hookers, ran pedestrians down with my car, and shot a drug-dealer priest. I did all of this in Grand Theft Auto. Hell, I accidentally shot a kid in the head in Fallout 3. I'm pretty gutted about it actually, this job (small company of ~30) was absolutely amazing in how well everyone worked together. In less than a year, new boss completely ruined most of the dynamics that made it great. I wouldn't have believed it was possible. I should note, none of these women are young or blonde. They're mid 40's and feature a variety of non-natural hair colors.

You know, I got into the work force and my first manager was a guy. A real fucking creep, he looked like a gray haired version of Paul Giamatti who was perpetually talking about going to "tittie bars" after work. I like strippers as much as anyone, but dude could make my skin crawl. He was fair with work, sure, but he was also an uncaring asshole about firing people. I don't feel he is saying you need to conform to any standards of masculinity. Obviously he feels harried by the estrogen in his life, and he needs safe refuge to bask in the warm glow of his testosterone. I can relate.

They almost definitely would be telling him that. It's a kind of damned-if-you-do/damned-if-you-don't situation. I'm sure that if he were more feminine they would want him to butch up, but they don't want to deal with the corollaries of boyhood: lots of kinetic energy and rambunctious curiosity. They'd really honestly rather he played quietly with dolls. Partially it's lazy, partially it's not knowing what to do with boys.
/r/MensRights27/05/10 07:28 PM

I would say, however, that a girl being more masculine is perfectly acceptable. "Tom-boy" or "girl-power" or what have you. A boy being more feminine is definitely not so celebrated. And perversely, they also receive admonishment for being too masculine, or macho, or just being "such a boy." My friends have a son and a daughter and the son is always getting an earful for not being "more like his sister." Which I've pointed out to them (on a few occasions) is really asking him to be more feminine…

Strange though it may seem, rapists are on an even lower level than murderers. In fact, murder is so without baggage, so acceptable to us as a society that we have more than a few shows that feature it as the main theme. Dexter most obviously. Being associated with murder does not carry the same pariah-making status as being accused of rape. Rape on the other hand is vile, and we have no shows glorifying it (for good reason). There is no silver lining to being accused of rape. Nobody thinks you'…

FaustWolf, Sorry for the animosity you received there. MR is a movement that is in its infancy, and it means a lot to the people involved. Being that it's in fledgling mode, it's something that feels like it can be stripped away or subverted. So, you'll sometimes have a bit of xenophobia. I believe the thinking is that this kind of leniency is the province of women. A man whose child died because he refused to feed it would likely be jailed. And he'd certainly get off much worse than "you poor thing, you've been through enough."

So feel free to hang him in the court of public opinion, then. But I don't think it's fair to do so, nor do I know what happened between them. In that situation: I'm going with a presumption of innocence barring evidence to the contrary.

They're half right. There really is no reason for feminists to feel threatened by this -- however, the only reason for us to feel victorious about it is that it is finally brought to light. I'd say legitimizing the plight of men abused by their partners is cause for celebration, even if the subject itself is grim.

I'm thrilled that this is what they're considering. I was frankly lucky to be such a damned nerd, because I found the context and application of what I was learning hilariously awesome (for instance, it was in chemistry that I figured out how I could construct my own still). But most of my enthusiasm was self generated. Very few of my (mostly female) teachers seemed to know how to interest boys. Without a practical application, or a context to put it in at the very least, a fair percentage of gu…

You would think so, and so would I actually, but I've seen many instances of laws where it is impossible for rape to occur if the victim is male. And it does also serve to broaden the thinking about these types of crimes. If it's deeply ingrained in a person's mind that rape is a Male -> Female transaction, then it'll be very hard to convince that person that perhaps a male was raped by a female.

First I upvoted you because I agreed with what you said... then you had to go and throw that P.S. in there. YOU WILL TAKE YOUR STATEMENTS ABOUT SPIDERMAN BACK! Batman is undoubtedly awesome, but Spiderman has actual powers. Bats is quite wealthy and extremely intelligent, but he's got no spider powers either. Well there is a certain vindication, as in my college biology classes I had one professor who took every opportunity she could to just crow about how males are going away, and the Y-chromosome is shrinking and soon will be gone. She said all of this with the kind of relish you'd hear in the voice of someone describing the demise of their enemy. ...so whether it's a Men's Right's issue or not, I am quite glad to hear it.
/r/MensRights14/01/10 02:19 PM

Thanks, it's definitely something to keep in mind. We wouldn't want to become as hysterical as the feminists are over every little issue. It's really all just life and the vast majority is grey area between the extremes. I only let it affect me when it's a huge clusterfuck of anti-male bias. The small stuff I let slide. Person B takes great umbrage at the implication that the negative effect has anything to do with feminism, as there are no negatives included in the definition. Q.E.D. This is not real feminism. (Often times this is where an ad hominem slides neatly into place.) Person A replies pointing out logical fallacies, asking them to account for certain actions …

We were talking about this in my office today (dangerous I know). The males mostly uniformly agreed that the whole thing was bullshit, and that it should require much more to send someone to prison, let alone accuse them publicly. The women in my office, at least the vocal ones (almost all), voiced the opinion that "he probably did something" and he's a jerk anyway, with the unspoken meaning that he deserved it for not treating her well. It strikes me that this kind of thinking is sadly common.

I agree that being strong willed and stating your position are things we have no problem with. I'd never change that. And I'm as sick as anyone of people treating masculinity like a defect. I'm going to be a steward of it. I'll do as much as I can for as long as I can to bring others through to the other side. But I suspect I'll need the help of others. What I want to create is the former; a place for open, candid discussion. The best way for a person to shed that kind of anger is to express it. Even if it's "wrong." It'll get sorted out. I think it would be helpful if you had a particular counter-example of a male in that kind of position and public reaction going negatively for him. Hmm. So it's already built up in most of the existing population then? In that case, the only way to avoid it would be to not nurse the child? Unless there's some kind of filtration that can be performed on breast milk... a sort of Brita for Boobs, I'm out of ideas. You've given me much to consider, WineInACan.

Thank you. That's what I'm here for. And I didn't know the bit about breast milk. I don't have children yet, but when I do, I'm going to take every measure to keep this away from their developing bodies (male or female.)

I have learned very little gives them pause. Cognitive Dissonance prevents this from ever becoming an issue. It would be good for us to remember that for ourselves.

Oh, well I guess we shouldn't worry about it then. Call off the research everybody! Old news!

Thanks for this. It's fantastic to see exactly what it is we're trying to protect; the father/child relationship.

I know, I'm amused by it more than anything. And I thought others might be interested to know as well.

I'm kidding, I don't think it's Aeirk. But apparently somebody has made an Us-Based novelty account. Probably not a good thing for actual MRA's, but I did chuckle a little.

I play RTS's; everything is resources. It's a pretty straightforward, and all encompassing, reference to his qualities. You don't find his wealth, genes, or social standing to be resources? Madness, just madness. Anyway, that aside, your other point was that you can't imagine women wanting to marry us. Fear not! We don't intend to propose to any of them.
/r/MensRights05/11/09 08:23 PM

Statements like those are why Raff001 will never be married again. His statement is not viewed from the perspective of his personal pain and hardship that he went through in the marriage, but the resources he was offering to women. Since you, based on nothing, have decided that these resources aren't appealing, you've decided that he's of no consequence. Thanks for being a fantastic example of the problem!

And did I ever feel good about myself? [citation needed]

Again, misread. I said he called Obama a human, which is more than I can say you called him. Though, that one was shitty typing on my part, so my apologies. I just didn't want a whole article ignored for a few comments that were misquoted to begin with.
/r/MensRights05/11/09 03:42 AM

Actually, you're putting a more racist spin on it than was present (if any.) Not that I agree with him, but his quote was the following: At this very moment, a grossly ignorant human being named Barack Obama may become our next president of the United States. He didn't say "ignorant black man." He called Obama a human being, which is more than I can say of you.

My comment was in jest, but I felt horrible for the children too. That was the only part of the video I'd have done differently. Take one of the (rational) adults and have them watch the kids well away from the frothing-at-the-mouth lunatic with a blunt metal object.

Something to the extent that for "thousands of years girls didn't matter, now it's payback time," but couched in less direct terms.

Yeah, on behalf of the more reasonable side of things around here, sorry for this bullshit.

Meh, this one has nothing to do with anything but hate for Saydrah. I don't really think anything of this statement. Basically she's saying that anime conventions are filled with horny, desperate, virginal males who have no idea how to attract a woman, and who resort to buying them things (all in all, not a horrible strategy.) I'm going to say this one is pretty benign.
/r/MensRights29/09/09 01:58 PM

Nah. I believe you. I just think it's pretty remarkable. And certainly not most people's experience with the sauce.

I'm a fairly stout drinker of alcohol (having been into moonshine before my 18th birthday gave me a bit of a tolerance) but even I think it's somewhat outlandish to say you haven't had a hard time remembering the night before after a full fifth of whiskey. My tolerance isn't what it used to be since I don't drink quite as much, or as hard, as I used to. But I still occasionally run into situations where I completely forget things. Case in point: I borrowed 20 bucks from a friend because there wa…

I like these comments today. I like that we're using critical thinking on an article that many of us already fundamentally agree with. Reason and logic should be the foundation of the MR movement, and I'm glad to see it here.

Make friends with the English. When I hang out with them I hear roughly 7-8 cunts per minute. It quickly loses its shock value.

I love how it doesn't matter that it wasn't him, it doesn't matter that he could not have fathered this child, and how everyone agrees this should not be going on... And yet, no one has the authority to stop it. It's ridiculous.

I dunno about that. No doubt there's competition for girls, I was a part of that myself. But the thing is, the kind of full on competition, complete with jibes back and forth, and a little pride from being at the top of the pile is exactly the kind of thing teachers discouraged me from in a mixed gender environment (high school, middle school, etc.) It was more of the "let's all participate and make everyone feel good" crap, which does nothing to light a fire under me, and which I can easily see…

Honestly, I think this is because of good old fashioned no-holds-barred competition. There was nothing that motivated me in school (especially in college, where being in Computer Science meant being in an all-male environment) as much as competition with fellow males. It wasn't petty, but always a game to out-do the other. To study harder, to put in a few extra minutes/hours on a project: whatever it took to kick asses. For me, that was always the motivator: to be the best in a competitive envir…

Maybe nothing amazing, but I thought it was an exchange worth sharing. It's this kind of cohesion that's important in becoming enough of a force to make people listen and take us seriously.

Thank you so much for doing this. I argue some of these points almost daily when I hear people around me spouting well-worn canards in reference to men. I really appreciate your efforts.

Here's what I want to know: why be such a coward? Unless it's plainly offensive, why down mod something like this: http://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/8qvet/globally_violence_is_a_leading_killer_it_accounts/ It's a statistic. It's neutral. It's being used as part of a discussion about the way in which men are ignored by the "system," and yet downmodded. Blows my mind. I like that someone pointed it out.

I agree, this kind of free pass for women to beat on men is a problem. ...but since it's Pink we're talking about, this is really an issue of man on man violence.

I get that you were pissed, and you made a mistake. That's fine. Part of being a man is facing it. I hope you come back, you opened my eyes with the Mens Rights reddit, and even though it certainly has its flaws, it has been an encouraging sign for me, that maybe other people have perceived the same things I have. Coming here for the first time I found out I wasn't the only one who felt like he was paying for the sins of generations past. For all of this, and for the role you played in bringing …

Imagine we do this. The next response is as follows: "Upper-class white males are privileged to be shot by highly skilled snipers with preferential treatment in terms of the exact position in which they stand as they are shot against the wall. This bias is unthinkable."

Let me begin my comment by saying I'm an elitist asshole. That out of the way, I was one of these boys. The only thing that kept me going through the tedium and the boredom of the classroom was the looks on the faces of teachers and classmates when they realized I had the highest grade in the class. The clown in the back of the room, the one who's "one of [your] problem students," just destroyed the bell curve. You can only do it early in the year, but oh is it sweet. My advice to you, if you ar…

Now, to say someone deserves to get raped in response to this is out of line. What they DO deserve, however, is a prison stay, and they should be forced to talk to ACTUAL rape victims until they are humiliated at the grotesque act of selfishness they have committed by falsely claiming they have been raped. It's not a bad idea to force them to register as a sex offender either. After all, didn't she commit a sex crime as well?
