We're speaking in generalizations, so of course there are plenty of man that get the emotional intimacy they need from their male friendships. Maybe this is even the majority. But there is an alarming number of men that don't, and I think those men are the ones that end up resenting women for wanting to be friends.

And that's mainly a result of how we raise men. If they were comfortable bonding with each other this way, they wouldn't be so confused when a woman wants to bond like this.

Yeah, why do men always talk like women are never friendzoned?? I've tried and failed to go out with guys before. The difference is I don't get butthurt when guys aren't into me, because I'm not entitled to anyone's attention or affection just because I was nice to them.

My SO and I have been together four years, and we started dating in high school. We came from a small town, and growing up he was the last person I thought I'd end up with, but when we actually talked at a party I found him to be really interesting and fun to talk to. He was kinda shy, awkward, but his quit wit and sense of humor always caught me off guard and I LOVE that in a man. with my limited experience I'd never been one to fall really hard really fast, but I definitely did for him. So tha…

Lmfao a full on 1/3? Maybe my social group is just really wholesome but I've never heard of anybody actually doing that outside of television. Most I've heard is that they go dutch, or alternate paying.

Idk, these don't seem so bad to me? They just seem like variations of "be a good partner" or "don't date a shitty partner".

¯_(ツ)_/¯ Agree to disagree then. I think if the family decides that one person should stay at home and lose the opportunity to advance in a career, they should not have to risk losing everything after they separate. (male or female (or neither!) of course)

lmfao okey. It's definitely not the idea of "woman are caretakers" that's been perpetuated by the nuclear family standard for hundreds of years. This has to be some new feminist conspiracy.

Feminists don't want to force men to be like women or to force women to be like men. What they want is to allow men the choice to be "feminine" and allow women the choice to be "masculine," however you define those terms. Women are often passed up for managerial opportunities because leadership is seen as a masculine trait, and men are often stigmatized for being stay at home dads because this is seen as a feminine role. (these are short generalizations for the sake of a simple argument) There i…

Do you feel the same way about stay at home dads?

You know feminists are fighting to end the stigma of men staying at home, right? It’s the “traditional values” people that want men to work and women to stay at home.

Well, yeah, but the point of the tweet wasn’t to talk about the horrors of lobotomy, it was to reverse the sexist language that was used to justify lobotomies on women. Men were victims of lobotomies, but they were not victims of sexism.

I mean, the history of lobotomy in general is horrifying, I’m not denying that. I was just pointing out that this tweet is a satire of the specific reasons women were lobotomized, and not some genuine attack on men.

It's pretty clearly satirical. Women were very commonly lobotomized for being "hysterical" back when lobotomies were a thing that actually happened.

I’m genuinely confused by this response. Are you saying that because we can’t quantify emotional suffering, we should discount it entirely?

"Sexually Aggressive" is not a feminist term. I've never even heard it in any feminist circles. I picked it up in a Human Sexuality course, it's a psychological term. Here's a link to one of the studies from the National Center for Biotechnology Information if you'd like to confirm: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7965615

Actually, studies have shown that when sexually aggressive men get a hard no they think of it like a challenge and become more aggressive. Now, not every man is sexually aggressive, but you don't know who is and isn't upon first glance. Take a club scene - I've only gone out a handful of times but more than once I've had to intervene on a man putting his hands on a woman after a hard no.

I mean, he did cheat on her and they founded Amazon together after they were married. So it's not like she's just stealing money from him.

I mean, that was absolutely not the point of the post but okay.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
