My boyfriend is very much like this with my cat, he absolutely adores her and has begun to copy me when I ask her for kisses (when you say ‘kisses’ she bows her head ready for you to kiss the top of it). He’s so respectful of her, and reads her body language and never pushes her boundaries. My ex was an absolute psycho and treated her like garbage and I loathed it, so this is a wonderful change of pace. Gentle men for the win!!!

While doing oral on my boyfriend my jaw became tired, and so I was like ‘I need a break’ and without a moments pause we both go ‘have a kit Kat’. We were in laughing hysterics for a solid five minutes. He then proceeded to return the oral favour and gave me one of the best orgasms of my life. So these two things really do go hand in hand.

Yep. I found my ex literally repulsive to look at during sex, and sex was a nightmare because I didn’t have any desire to touch him or have him touch me. My current boyfriend though… lord the sky could be falling and you couldn’t stop me once we start making out 🤷‍♀️ It’s never worth staying with someone you’re not attracted to at all

It’s a long process, but I’m so proud of you for taking this first step, and I wish you all the love and luck for this journey. I too have been in the same place, and it’s been the most rewarding, challenging, heart wrenching but ultimately healing experience. I’m really beginning to find myself, and it turns out I really love her. Good luck ❤️

This is 100% something I’ve slowly been learning these last few months. I’ll admit I haven’t been perfect, unlearning these behaviours will still take a long time, but I’ve really been enjoying finding things I like to do, most recently I’ve discovered I’m quite good at hand sewing and have been helping out with costumes in a local musical I’m in. It’s been extremely fulfilling, and I’ve found my desire to use OLD decreasing at an alarming rate (of which I welcome). Funnily enough, I’ve met a gu…

You know, once upon a time I convinced myself that dad bods were hot because my ex let himself go. Now I’m fully leaning into the fact that fit, muscular and healthy tall men are absolutely my type and all I’ll settle for.

I must admit, this is completely legit. Leaving my ex has resulted in me having the most healthy and glowing skin I’ve ever had. HVM or none 🤷‍♀️

Constant unstable mental health with absolutely no sign of him trying to help himself, and me taking the brunt of his anger at his situation every time. Never again

I’m 100% here for this. The only reason I finally began the journey to leaving my DV ex was because I suspected he was cheating on me with this new ‘friend’ he met online. One morning after we’d had a fight the night before and he slept on the couch, I found his phone going off next to him so I had a look and saw some very intense messages from the girl. I unlocked his phone, and after literally one minute of scrolling I could see the romantic texts he had been sending her. I woke and confronted…

Six years wasted, and it all bullshit. On to bigger and better things, finding this sub has been a game changer for me. I don’t blame you, I’m feeling much the same 🤷‍♀️

Mate retention. My ex slowly cut me off from socialising with people under the guise that he hated socialising, or it made him anxious (or a million other things) and if I did without him I’d feel intensely guilty leaving him at home alone so I’d just not bother going out. This lead to serious isolation that is taking months to detangle. Another point would be emotional manipulation, especially surrounding gift giving. My ex would buy me things constantly, even if I asked him to stop because he …

Wish I’d read this before getting in deep with my ex.

Nope, I didn’t give him any details to identify me by. I am worried a bit about him stalking me, but he lives a couple of hours away so hopefully that will help.

Don’t worry, all of this advice has helped solidify my resolve and I’ve fully ended all contact now. Thank you for your advice x

That was an early days mistake, I’m no longer interested in dating and am focusing on myself now.

I never gave him any identifying details about myself, nothing that could help him trace me. I was always very careful about that, though stupid about over sharing my emotional baggage 🙃🤦‍♀️

I’ve actually decided to completely cut contact with him and just zero in on myself for the foreseeable future, because the comments have confirmed a truth I’ve struggled to grip. Thank you for your wisdom.

You’re 100% spot on about the isolating thing. My ex was exactly like that, and I’m not about to repeat that mistake. Glad I never went through with a date.

Thank you so much, and I’m so sorry you’ve also had to go through things I have. You are amazing, and I hope you continue to lead a great life with your family! You are absolutely correct, and so much of what you have said lines up with what he’s already said/ done to try and make me feel special. I’m realising that I need to trust my gut, so once again thank you.

It ended in February, and I started therapy around early March, and it’s been a journey (talked to this guy a couple of weeks after it ended, massive mistake). Everything you’re saying is absolutely spot on, and the realisation I’ve come to, I just really needed some hard confirmation that I need to end it, and really focus only on myself. I’ve began distancing myself the last couple of days and throwing myself in my local theatre show I’m in and my friends, and I’ve loved it!

Thank you for the advice! I’m trying to learn better habits and when we first started talking I didn’t really think about what I was doing. Since finding FDS, I’ve come to understand that I need to be doing better and protect myself. I’m currently in therapy, and been doing much better over the last two weeks. Once again, thank you for confirming what I already felt.
