Morally you should start any fights ever. Rationally you shouldn't ever start a fight you don't feel confident you could win.

Yes he 100% has the right and honestly it probably isn't about how much he trusts you. After all people are only ever betrayed by the people that they trust. Frankly the idea of finding out later in life that any children I had weren't actually mine would be so damaging to me, to the kid, and to our relationship, that I am not willing to risk it, no matter how much I might trust my partner.

"Get really good at sex" is almost entirely unhelpful, especially considering what constitutes "good sex" will likely change from partner to partner. Realistically you need two things to be good at sex with your partner: -Practice, but that depends on your access to sex which is lower for men. -Communication, but fuck if people in relationships could just communicate with each other then that'd solve more problems than just this. What would probably help an individual most is honest constructive…

There are a lot of things that are illogical but still true. Human beings are not purely rational, and the simple fact is that a large number of men are uncomfortable with dating people with large body counts. There are several possible reasons for this feeling. But ultimately if that is a standard people want to set for themselves, then we should let them have that standard, and the same goes in reverse. If a woman only wants to date 7" tall guys who make 8 figures a year, power to her, just do…

This is 100% true. However, we should talk about these things so that people don't end up feeling like they should be happier when they're single and aren't happy, or probably worse, manage to convince themselves that they are happy, when they truly aren't. Its OK to generalise when talking about an entire group, as long as you recognise that you may be wrong and there will always be exceptions. What you should never do is take those generalisations and apply them to specific people.

Yeah sure, but the main point is that you can't really attach a number to human suffering, put it on a scale and balance it. If your husband works a job that puts more stress on him than yours for the same pay over several years/decades, does that equate to the suffering of childbirth? Even if you can find an answer in a specific situation, you can't make a rule that will work for all situations, so the solution always is: Communicate with your partner, and make sure that whenever possible you a…

My point was that either way the husband would likely be the one who had to deal with the situation, and even with a gun that situation isn't one he comes out of easily and with no trouble... Or is your argument that if you own a gun, then you'd be the one grabbing the gun and using it to defend your husband? Rather than the other way around? Either way, this still doesn't address my main point.

Oh cool, you only have to deal with the trauma of killing a person then, no biggie. I know a woman who didn't realise she was pregnant until she was several months pregnant, and when it came time to give birth the labour lasted 10minutes. Also, my main point stands, no relationship will be perfectly equal, but if your parter is feeling used or like they're putting more into the relationship than you are, you probably need to sort that out, and the "we want 50/50" crowd are saying they feel used,…

It is always a bad idea to play the suffering Olympics. How are women going to make it up to their husband when a burglar breaks in in the middle of the night and the husband is expected to fight them off? What about women who have a particularly easy pregnancy, or who enjoy being pregnant and having children? Things are obviously never going to be exactly 50/50 there are going to be times where one partner has to step up and help out more, and there are going to be times where it'll be the reve…

This. Also to be clear, unless I'm mistaken, slurs are insults that attack a person based on fundamental/intrinsic aspects of their identity, (race, gender, sex, etc). Calling someone a "pick me" or indeed a "white knight" or a "simp" is not attacking their identity. It's attacking a perceived set of behaviours. For the pick me, it's insulting them by saying that they're trying to overly appeal to men, and are willing to sell their own pride/integrity to do so. And for simp and white knight it's…

Those funds are relationship funds, marriage means that resources are shared, regardless of their source, and unless I'm very mistaken, if they were to divorce right then, half of that money would be going to him. That being said, there's no indication that the wife is attempting to prevent that money for being used in ways that would benefit the husband, or trying to keep the money all to herself. In fact to me it looks like the husband is trying to be irresponsible with the money and the wife …

Shit my bad, I totally read that backwards. No if a couple has come to an arrangement that works for all involved I would have no issue with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/22 01:35 AM
2

That's seems backwards to me? Once you're together in a relationship it's reasonable for you to have come to some kind of arrangement as how to divide the costs (both monetary and otherwise) of the relationship. For example maybe you make more money than your partner so you pay for the dates etc. But on the first date you don't know each other at all, you've come to no agreements, and there's a decent chance that you'll never see each other again, so surely that would be the time where you split…

To be fair this sounds like an example of internalised misandry, no? Like the fact that men have had to pay for so long has caused it to become ingrained as a social norm, and so they feel they have to pay or they aren't meeting the societies expectations of who they need to be? Seems like we need to educate men that it's OK to treat women as equals in the realm of paying for things (and probably in other realms too).

This is a good point and I should be more clear. Obviously I can have whatever standards and preferences I want because no one can control whether I date a person except me (and of course them). This is why I believe we shouldn't police the standards that people have at all because it ends up being really weird. The issue is, if I say that I don't wish to date overweight women then I will be called fat phobic etc. Even if all I am is stating my preference (I'm not advocating for people to go har…

I think this is really important, a large part of the anger over the height issue comes from the inherent double standard that it feels like is being set. Like I'm not allowed to say that I don't want to date a woman that's overweight, despite that being 100% in your control, but you're allowed to tell me you don't want to date me because I'm too short, which I cannot change. Personally, I think everyone should be able to have whatever preferences and requirements for dating that they want to ha…

If I was the man and I just found out? It would really depend on a lot of other information. Did my partner sit me down and explain it to me or did I have to find out from someone else? Did my partner actively work to keep this information from me or did they simply not tell me? What was the relationship to my brother like? Why did it start? Why did it end? What is their current relationship to my brother? Is my brothers wife aware that he cheated? Depending on the answer to these questions my r…

Ok there's actually two separate questions here. Should someone have do divulge immoral acts they have done in the past when entering a new relationship? Should person 1 have a reasonable understanding of person 2's relationships to the other people in person 1's life? On the first one I think it's a no. I would hope that even if you've done some terrible things in the past you have changed such that you aren't going to do them again, and what matters is who you are now. On the second one I thin…

I agree that it cannot ever be truly fair. But it can be closer, and a financial abortion like this would likely have similar financial, psychological and possibly (depending on their faith) spiritual consequences, for any men that used such a service.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/22 07:43 AM
1

No, because the argument is the same. All I want is for arguments regarding both medical and financial abortions to be applied fairly to both genders wherever possible. I do not wish to unfairly punish either men or women, I just want them to be treated as equally as possible considering the differences that are endemic to the sexes. Men do not have access to medical intervention for abortion (nor should they), but there isn't anything stopping us from making a law that allows men to completely …

I agree, on the provision that the same argument is used to block women from having access to abortions in the cases where the pregnancy results from a consensual sexual encounter and does not pose a health risk to the prospective mother.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/22 06:24 AM

Could it not be argued that men are being punished for biological differences through their lack of control. Again I keep hearing the "Men can choose not to have sex" arguement which is fine, it's a fair logical and rational argument, but if any location wants to ban abortions for people who have had sex consensually, then the EXACT same argument can be made about women, and I would expect anyone making that argument not to have a double standard. Depending on where you live Men do not expect wo…

Firstly, I want to point out a lot of those arguments are the same as what is used against women arguing that they should have access to abortion, (don't have sex, use birth control etc) which indicates a double standard. Secondly, there are situations where a man can become a father despite taking every reasonable precaution, for example there are cases where an older woman (usually a teacher but not always) rapes a minor and becomes pregnant, for which the child is held responsible for paying …

You are of course correct, true absolute fairness is an impossibility, but does that mean we should toss in the towel and not care about making things fair at all? Or should we work to make things as fair as we are able to, given the conditions of the world and the resources available to us?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/22 03:29 AM

Seems like a pretty major whataboutism, but sure I'll bite, what would you like to see done about the fact that pregnancy is a major risk to women's health but isn't a risk to men's health? We could potentially put more research/funding towards methods that can reduce that risk is one idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/22 03:23 AM

Or did I apply their exact same argument to the other gender to see if their beliefs hold up or whether they will reveal a double standard? Arguing that a man had sex and therefore consented to raise a child for 18 years, is the same as arguing that women who had sex have consented to raising a child. The issue at play is how to deal with the inherent unfairness at play with the fact that women (in places where abortions are allowed) have control over whether to bring the pregnancy to term, and …

This is such a good take and it annoys me how rarely I see it. You can have whatever preferences you want (as long as they're legal), but don't bitch if you end up alone. If a man says he only wants to date 22yos with double Ds, fine, but if you can't find someone that'll date you that meets that preference, you don't get to complain that women aren't catering to you. In the same way if a women only wants to date men that make more than $200,000 a year, that's fine, but if you can't find anyone …

This seems like way too large a list of masculine virtue? I would consider a trait masculine only if the trait itself implied in some way masculinity in the person showing the virtue. I would argue there's a significant amount of overlap, and there are a some fuckzones that are worse than some friendzones, and some friendzones that are worse than some fuckzones. Also it should be noted that some people may consider being given a certain level of intimacy, only to then take it away is worse than not being given that level of intimacy in the first place. The point I was making is that in both situations the person can be toying with you and making you believe they're interested…

Unrequited love regardless of gender is an unfortunate reality of life that no one is really to blame for. Sometimes people only see you as a friend, or only see you as a fuck buddy, and that sucks, but they aren't bad people because they feel that way, and they don't owe you a relationship. Leading someone on however, is a scummy terrible thing to do, again regardless of gender, if a woman leads a guy on because she likes the things he does for her, with no intention of actually building a rela…

Even if I did agree with that statement it's a ridiculously stupid statement to make. Arguing that it's worse for women than men, is not going to be easily provable, and may not even be provable at all, and it gets you absolutely nowhere. Men still absolutely need to go to the gym and eat well, because if you're a 40yo fat fuck and your wife doesn't want to fuck you anymore that's on you to change. Women still absolutely face the same issue. Arguing one side "has it worse" will only alienate peo…

Goddamn it, you had such a good point and but you applied it to only one gender. Its very common for both people in a relationship to let themselves go and become less attractive to their partner as time goes on, and its disrespectful for both men and women to do so. How many men (and women) complain about a dead bedroom, and yet have become completely unattractive to their partners. No matter which gender you are, go to the fucking gym, and eat well. It won't completely solve these issues, but …

I'm not saying always test, obviously if you're continuously testing your partner there's an issue. But with something as completely life destroying as learning that your child isn't actually yours (not just to the father but to the child as well) , I think verifying isn't that crazy a request. There are a significant number of people who feel the exact same way you do, who ended up being betrayed. And to be honest, this idea of trusting your partner this completely has some "victim-blamey" vibe…
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 12:04 AM

But this is exactly the problem, people are literally only ever betrayed by people they trusted, thats the definition of betrayal. Its all well and good saying "well I trust my partner" but the simple fact is that that trust may be misplaced. Trust is not the same thing as blind trust. And when it comes to something as completely life destroying as finding out after you've spent a decent chunk of your life raising a child that the child isn't yours, no amount of trust is enough.

There are places around the world where it 100% requires both parents consent, and unless the mother allows it, you need to get a court order to get a paternity test done. Also, I've known several women who have stated that if any man they were with requested a paternity test they would immediately leave him. These women were not pregnant at the time.

Beauty and fashion trends are not solely based on the desires of the opposite sex. New sub-cultures are constantly forming and old ones are dying, and some of them reach wider than others. I suppose you could argue that women change more drastically between fashion trends, but again I would assume that is the result of women being more interested in said fashion trends. Men tend to be more conservative with their fashion regardless of the current fads. But again being seen as beautiful and attra…

Yeah, some people are just wired differently to each other, which is why we need to treat each other with empathy wherever possible. You shouldn't have to change your life to suit the people around you, but it helps us all if we can understand where everyone is coming from. 😁👍

That's really fair. I'm not really sure if it's possible for everyone to cure themselves of sexual jealousy, it's possible, but it could just be another way different people are different yknow. Also it should be pointed out that there's some psychological studies that have indicated that sexual jealousy is significantly stronger on average in men than in women, which could further complicate things.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/22 12:56 AM
6

I disagree. People are different, there are people who feel absolutely no sexual jealousy at all, I don't personally understand how that works, but I can accept that they feel differently to me. What I dislike however, is people trying to act like feeling this way is somehow wrong or bad or unacceptable or even sexist. If you don't feel this way that's fine, and if you do feel this way it's fine, your feelings are valid either way.

I 100% agree that you shouldn't need to change your behaviour to suit the people around you and make them feel equal. Well it's not about choosing men have the same control over their feelings as women do, sometimes you just feel things and you don't get to choose not to. The problem is that there's a sizeable number of guys who are perfectly willing to wait, if they're being treated the same as everyone else, the issue they run into is finding out that while they were made to wait someone else wasn't. A lot of men equate sex with willingness to bear children, because our brains aren't really wired to understand birth control. So when a woman is willing to sleep with a guy at the drop of a hat there's some peice of a lot of guys brains that say "Holy shit he must be really valuable in order for her to be willing to do that for him so fast" or "she must be willing to bear a lot of kids". The problem comes when she then later on makes another guy wait a few months, because then she can't be will…

You've clearly never been in a fight. There is no "protecting yourself", you can try to avoid taking a hit (which can be difficult in a cramped setting like a home), or you can try to block/deflect a hit to reduce the impact (not stop it), being stronger than the person attacking you does very little to reduce the damage they can deal to you. However it does give you the opportunity to either hit back, or put some kind of hold on the person. But both of those things are things that men will be c…

The primary issue I have with stories like these is that there is never a photo of what the person was wearing. Which forces us to either agree that women can wear whatever they want whenever they want regardless of context, or that women must only wear extremely Conservative clothing at all times. Give us a damn photo and let us decide for themselves if what she was wearing was out of line, or if it was decent and the government employee was just on a power trip. Edit:Typo.

My argument is that just because people are complaining about/describing an issue that they feel they struggle with and would like people to acknowledge that struggle, doesn't mean they inherently want to oppress an entire gender.

Damn must've fat fingered the button. My bad. Flipping the analogy doesn't necessarily improve anything. You're arguement implies that all people think the way that you do, and the reason you believe that TRP all want to oppress women is because if the shoe was on the other foot that's what you would do. Are there SOME people within TRP that want to blow up the dam? 100%, and they can go fuck themselves. But some are perfectly willing to find other solutions.

Cute analogy, way to paint the other side as monsters. But a more accurate analogy is that there's a settlement of ogres, some of whom are talking about a lack of water. Some of those Ogres have said that building a dam would solve the water supply issues. Your claim is that any ogre that talks about or acknowledges the lack of water is by implications advocating for the construction of the dam. Which isn't true.

You claimed: No "issues" presented by TRP are solvable without also compromising the idea that women deserve equal rights to men. If you want to argue against the more sexist/extreme views of TRP I'm certainly not going to stand in your way. There are some horrible views out there that need to be picked apart. But you have stated that there are no issues that are solvable. Nothing that can be done. No good points. Quit acting like a more nuanced take is somehow impossible.

But again, you're completing it for them and potentially in ways that they wouldn't. Therefore you come across as though you're straw-manning their arguement, even if you aren't. If this is truly the only outcome to the argument that is being presented, then all you should have to do is wait till they complete the argument themselves, at which point you can resoundingly destroy them. But if you try to destroy and argument that the other side hasn't made, you're not going to get anywhere.

But if thats all they're asking for, and it costs you nothing to give that to them, then do so. And if they want something else/more they will need to ask for that, at which point you can talk about what they're actually asking for. But trying to divine people's true intentions in spite of what they're actually saying is always problematic, because you can't be sure how much of your own biases are coming into play, and it's difficult to convince other people of your position because at the end o…

If all people ask for is acknowledgement of their issues, then why not give them that? If people want to advance some implied political position, then either directly ask them questions about it, or ignore them. Either way they will be forced to stake out an actual real position, that can be attacked/argued over. If there is some aspect of reality that BPs/women will refuse to acknowledge then its not really suprising that men see that refusal as insanity (refusing to acknowledge reality) and wi…

Then you haven't seen many discussions about female privilege. Maybe you didn't intend to, but the way you've worded your original post implies that men have no complaints outside of the dating sphere which is just unbelievably not the case. There are a litany of problems that men face both in and out of the dating sphere, just like there are a large number of problems that disproportionately affect women inside and outside the dating sphere. But when you word things like this you discount all o…

The movie Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx is all about masculinity. Theres a great video essay I watched a while ago that delves into the conflict between Tom Cruise's character's ideas of masculinity and Jamie Foxx's Character's failures/discovery of his masculinity.

To be clear, they didn't say you WERE obtuse, they said you WERE BEING obtuse. One is denigrating you as a person. The other is denigrating the things you're doing.

It's real simple, if you want to have kids at some point then don't get a vasectomy. If she continues to pressure you, you can point out that she can get her tubes tied, but ultimately you'll need to be firm and say that at some point you may want kids and are not going to get a vasectomy. If she keeps pushing, then you'll have to decide whether you still want to be in a relationship with someone that completely disregards your opinion like that. Either way DON'T get a vasectomy.

I'm not about to say that people just become trans for the privilege, because that seems ridiculous, after all life seems way worse for a trans person than not... Buuuuuut, there are a lot more transwomen than transmen AFAIK.
