Many leftists agree the current prison system sucks. I've only read one article and it was linked in these comments but from what I read it seems like a minority of prison haters decided to focus on why it's bad for women specifically. Just like how in America some decide to focus on why it's bad for poor people, black people, trans people, or any other minority.

[I'm not a historian, this is only conjecture] Many years ago the expectations for high middle class women were clearly defined and followed by most. Unlike men, women couldn't differentiate themselves to their peers and potential mate's based on their job since they were almost all housewives (also men couldn't flex their wife by stating her job and men usually got the inheritance). Without income beauty was chosen as the easy go to way to rank women and has stuck. Again, this is my uneducated …

Sorry, I'll try again. Male advocacy posts tend to be more in-depth because a short tweet or comic is more likely to be mislabeled as sexist or anti-feminist.

Feminism is a safe/popular position in most large social circles. Like if someone made an extremely simple post saying the Hobbit trilogy is bad many people would would upvote it because they agree or want to be part of the group. But a post saying the Hobbit trilogy is better than LOTR would need to be way longer with more specific points and examples to get as many upvote.
