I’ve been the “bad boy” and it only took me so far, I’ve also been the nice guy and that didn’t pan out too well either. My plan this time around is a little bit of both. Many women do like to “fix” guys so you may be on to something there. I’ll keep that book in mind!

It’s good that you’ve been able to receive all the info from other sources. The things I listed are prime examples, but there’s something unique about being in a therapy session, face-to-face that has added benefits I can’t necessarily put to words. Different things work for different people, no different than with medicine, food or anything else we do or consume. At least in my area and experience many of the women view therapy as a positive thing for those that have gone through the struggle. …

I’ll give you a few examples that I can think of right now. Attachment Theory: I might have heard about previously it in passing, but never dove into it or connected the dots. This was brought up during one session and it explained the reasoning behind so many conflicts we had. I was then introduced to a book called “attached”, which I highly recommend. It was too late for my marriage but now I’m better prepared for future relationships and what my own internal triggers and needs are. Journaling…

This attitude right here is exactly why guys are afraid to go to therapy, they’re afraid of being judged or seen as weak and it’s bullshit. This couldn’t be further from the truth, I’ve learned that the hard way. It takes guts to find a good therapist, talk through your issues and do your own self work. Like with anything else in life, each experience will vary, but mine has been a game changer. Find a therapist that you feel comfortable connecting with and you’ll see what I mean. Seeing a thera…

Yep, very similar in my case as well. You have to better yourself and move on, no sense in spending too much time dwelling on the past. Heal from the trauma and make the most of it

I can see that being the case for some of them, unfortunately you never know that’s the case until it’s too late. I’m sorry that you’ve had to experience it

I know how you feel. We had an agreement on how things should be split and the living arrangements that worked well for both of us, her therapist told her that she deserved “more” literally right after we filled out the paperwork and were about to deliver to the court. Totally threw a grenade into the mix and caused significant mental anguish for us both, but her therapist got a ton more business out of it.

Many therapists are good and want the best, but I swear there are a few who cause disruption because it will increase their business. They shouldn’t be able to suggest things like that without knowing both sides of the story

This most definitely seems to be an epidemic of sorts, lots of guys (including myself) with very similar experiences. My ex has spoken out on social media since our divorce and tried to claim a handful of different things, all of which were untrue. I don’t mean to claim that myself or my marriage was perfect (obviously it wasn’t), but those claims were only put out there to garner sympathy and make her feel better while putting me down. I saw some of her friends and even random strangers alludin…

No doubt, I’m content being single but definitely want to get out there and date a bit to have fun and be social.

It usually starts when the court receives the completed paperwork. We did an uncontested divorce, the court waived the 30 day waiting period and told us it would be finalized in 4-6 weeks. The judge had our papers signed only 1 week later. If it’s uncontested that can really speed things up, whether that’s a good or bad thing is another story.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
