Don't focus on the results in the sense of her giving him her number. Focus more on the fact he had the balls to do it. That will help with your approach anxiety. You don't know what's going to happen and that's okay. Just enjoy the moment and again if you had the balls to approach, you won anything else is just bonus wether you got her number or not :)

Depends on the girl though, a girl that likes more down to earth guys maybe wouldn't like a suit and tie. I would say just be well clean and presentable and wear stuff that you love and or what people you are trying to model yourself after.
