You need to file for a protective order. Even if it is denied (you’re a man after all) you will have on record you claiming she put her hands on you.

This is a normal tactic and it was done to me. Just hang in there bro

Get that alimony lol. and spousal support. All of the things

Then she’ll complain you’re not providing. I’d suggest that she get a job to contribute financially to the household before you change yours and take a pay cut.

You’re not responsible for her feelings. You’re not responsible for her feelings. She is. It’s okay for her to not like something, that doesn’t mean you have to change anything, unless you want to.

Not until she says she feels threatened. Then she can.

Not live paycheck to paycheck. Go to bed at a reasonable hour. Have a clean house. Actually get all the laundry done. Hold onto a dollar longer than a month. Excel at work. Could go on but that seems like enough

Sounds familiar. You’re making the right choice but it’s not gonna be easy to get to the finish line

You should ask for >50% of the assets due to your diminished earning capacity relative to hers!

Write out a budget, send it to your ex, pay the required expenses out of your account and give her half of whatever is leftover after all the required expenses are paid. If it’s half of nothing, it’s half of nothing.

She hasn’t worked in years. Got fired a few months after my first 6 figure job and has just been a dragging anchor on my life ever since. I got a better rate by myself. Lol

The grass ain’t always greener. If it’s all in your name she can do false accusations to get you out then just not pay the mortgage and suffer no consequences

I told her I wanted it and she filed, I was worried she’d lose her shit when she got served, as she’s not a very emotionally mature person who can handle a confrontational situation like that. I’m not sure how useful these stats are

Ironically the patriarchy is why this is all so fucked up. Think about it. Women can’t earn for themselves, men aren’t capable of being parents. Gotta tip the scale cause women are too weak otherwise

I saw it on “the shade room” and the comments, amazingly, were entirely supportive of Hill, lots of “ain’t nobody need to see those messages” and “he’s just expressing boundaries” types of stuff. And yeah, he didn’t do fuckall wrong. He did exactly what they tell us they want lmao

Before I read your post I was just thinking about how I just took my kids sailing and how I’m gonna eventually get a boat you can sleep on and yeah, the ex never would’ve gone for any of that. My daughter loved it.

She’s not right OP. Read a book, watch a movie, go to bed early and get up early for an extra long workout. I’m also skipping the booze tonight and staying in, alone. Your friends are out doing other shit. Your friends. She’s wrong. Keep on doing your thing, who fucking cares what she or anyone else thinks

I joined a yacht club after learning that there was one nearby. I grew up sailing but gave it up as my ex didn’t fit in with that crowd and convinced me I didn’t either. I took my kids swimming and they’re excited to learn to sail. I sometimes what she thinks about all of that, but not much, cause it doesn’t matter.

This isn’t your fault. You shouldn’t feel bad about putting yourself first. She’s not putting you first either. This isn’t your fault.

Women aren’t evil. That person was. “The algorithm” tries to feed me so much incel shit, good god. Lots of people suck, lots of people are women. That’s all it is. The rest is just words.

I have an uncle who is straight but basically married to another dude, roommates but also best friends who cook, travel etc together. No joke the other dude is a divorce judge lmao. Seems amazing.

If she doesn’t sign that 90 day thing he’s gotta wait a year. I’m 6 months in. She still hasn’t gotten a job. Don’t expect her to at this point. Not my problem. If she can’t get her shit together then I will step up and be the full time parent. It might be better for them that way if she stays stuck in crazy

Oh and beware there’s a bunch of incel shit out there. If you read about masculinity or men’s studies stuff, make sure it comes from academics. There’s some really good ones. I liked this one a lot https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23310158-breaking-the-male-code
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/23 02:47 PM

You’re on the right track. Add therapy and time and you’ll get there. I’m 6 months in, separate but living together, she’s trying to evict me even though she doesn’t have any income, life is miserable right now and shit sucks but otoh I’ve never been happier or more optimistic because what matters to me and how I see myself is completely different than before.

Bro you’re way off here. Who cares if he likes to have tea parties with his my little pony dolls. It’s his life and if he wants to do it then he fucking should, you and his wife be damned.
/r/Divorce_Men16/01/23 12:25 PM

/r/Divorce_Men13/12/22 10:24 PM

Do what you’d what your kid to do in your loveless marriage. She likely will be devastated, but that is just a feeling and it will pass. It will certainly change her life in a lot of negative ways but you can be a better dad if you take care of yourself. You’ll offset a lot, if not most of the negative impact and you can still be there for them. They’ll be ok, will you?
/r/Divorce_Men13/12/22 02:25 AM

I’ve been told I literally just have to sit and take it if that happens to me because I’m much larger and stronger. But I’m not aggressive.

Same dude. Just waiting for that day to come.

How long until she was out of the house from when you filed. It’s been a long checks watch 4 months. Did she have to get a job or did she already have one?
/r/Divorce_Men23/11/22 01:56 PM
2

Don’t listen to this completely wrong advice OP
/r/Divorce_Men14/11/22 08:48 PM
1

My house is in my name. It doesn’t matter as far as equity, if y’all bought it when married it’s just as much yours as hers. Her only upper hand is if she wants to keep the house she doesn’t have to refi at some bonkers rate and you would have to qualify for a mortgage on your own if you want to keep it. Either way half the equity is yours.
/r/Divorce_Men31/10/22 05:12 PM
4

Leaving the house can and will affect custody. Regardless of what y’all agreed to or the circumstances (except in limited cases involving dv) courts see it as abandoning your family. These are not incels telling you this because they hate women, they’re telling you this because nobody is looking out for your best interests if you aren’t.
/r/Divorce_Men31/10/22 04:21 PM
13

Stop putting others’ needs instead of your own. That’s why you stayed in this marriage too long. Your kids will have a better dad if you put your needs first.
/r/Divorce_Men31/10/22 04:19 PM
2

I’m in it now. It’s not gonna be easy, but like, I’ve come to realize, stuff worth doing or having isn’t easy to do or have. Don’t move out if you have kids.
/r/Divorce_Men30/10/22 03:50 AM

Do the thing my wife’s doing any say she’s too busy working to be able to parent also.

I’m happy for you for this reason OP

/r/Divorce_Men30/09/22 01:46 PM
