It can put him in jail for 9 years. In this case it would have been longer had she not eventually decided to admit. I'm sure she felt real bad about her father being in jail for damn near a decade though, so he's got a point. She shouldn't be punished or anything, because her emotions have already punished her so much already. /s

I think a blanket statement like that isn't quite fair. In many places, abortions are illegal, meaning women who don't want their child cannot safely/legally abort the fetus, forcing them to either raise the child, or give it up for adoption. If the mother doesn't want the child, but is forced to by external influences, should its biological father be allowed to refuse child support payments on the grounds that he didn't want the child either?
