This phrase right here, “while boys were taught to be monster trucks or whatever.” shows such an ignorance of the male experience and what we are actually taught. It set the tone for the rest of the piece. This isn’t actually an attempt to be constructive at all, because there’s no understanding offered, not one single olive branch to let men know that we’re welcome to this discussion. Well, since you squared up, let’s do it then. Men need women, and we have always known that we need women. Ther…

The same way the OP is generalising with their view and not taking into account the experiences of women, this consistent comment also generalises the experience of men. There are some animals out there who just want some ass and only think of ass when the concept of a human woman is brought up. I find them to be fewer and further between. Women may feel as if they’re the rule, but after all, those guys do the vast majority of the approaching and often play the numbers game. Sexuality for many m…

This is nothing to be sorry over. Love, caring, fatigue, resentment, it all overlaps. Burden can be indicative of love. Just look at the image of Christ and his cross that he bore to crucifixion. Or that a mother bears her child inside her. Or a father going to work to take care of his family. A burden can be a wonderful thing. You’re giving off an image that indicates you believe not using the word “burden” in reference to your child makes you superior in some kind of way. “I pray you never hav…

Be cruel. Fuck her, she’s the one that sucks, getting DUI’s with kids in the car. What do people’s negative opinions of you do? Nothing. Sometimes cruelty is warranted, and it’s useful to be able to identify this as one of those times.

If he’s smart she’s getting hit with an emergency custody order using the police report as justification, and then he’ll snag the kids somewhere she’d have to drive to get them and wait there with a police officer to see if she does something stupid like jump in her car to come grab them and fucks up in the first 24 hours. Gotta have a police officer buddy to swing that last part though.

I agree with this take. Who cares who has it hardest? There’s always somebody out there who has it harder. Change yourself, work on yourself, and do better for yourself. Now, there is the concern of picking the right person, or at least type of person, when choosing a romantic partner. But we all have that challenge to surmount. This whole debate of who has it worse is falling on deaf ears over here, and it’s because the point is getting beaten to hell and back again.

Is there a reason this subreddit has divulged into who has it worse or which gender has the lower bar to surmount?

Archetypal, that’s the word I was searching for and kept missing. The idea that we all consistently do it to varying degrees and often intersectional demographics makes a great deal of sense to me. Sounds like many of us need to find that meditative zen that seems to be all the rave these days. I’ve actually found a great deal of solace in Christianity these days, which is ironic when I think of how I viewed Christianity as problematic when I was younger. But it’s also ironic that I thought some…

I’m curious, do women not think that we men have a similar woman inside our heads in a parallel fashion? I get that many men want many women for themselves, but there’s definitely a paragon of women or a meta woman in my head that serves as a lens through which many of my actions and choices are seen. I ask myself questions that women ask themselves, but from a man’s point of view. “How does my physique look? Would this behavior make me appear to be a better father? Can I engender enough confide…

Purely anecdotal, and all above the age of 25. Girlfriends that had small butts going to the gym, changing their diet, and being consistent. There’s a thickening of the body in men and women that happens from 25-35. Many men are more muscular than ever in their 30’s and many women are curvier than ever in their 30’s. I’ve personally seen it happen 4 times, so not a great sample size, but none of them were the “Instagram influencers” you brought up in the original post.

I work in a law firm where we handle divorce. The overwhelming majority of our clients are really bad at anything close to an open relationship, and I would wager that they’re indicative of the greater population. Most people go about it in a way that guarantees failure, and most seem to not be able to handle it even if they went about it in a way that would most facilitate whatever “success” is supposed to look like.

Park Rangers. They always have nicer gear, but humble gear, nothing overtly niche like ultralight backpackers. Just something reflects clear love and experience with the outdoors. They get paid next to nothing when compared with doctors, lawyers, researchers at prestigious institutions, engineers, etc., but their lifestyle and value system doesn’t place much importance in money. And there’s something about that aspect in addition to love and commitment for the outdoors that commands respect.

I can see that. Some people just suck. We run into those too. They’re usually the exception, not the rule. Maybe 1 in every couple dozen cases is against someone so miserable that you just have to marvel at them.

I agree with you, and I think we would agree that someone who has no care for their partner isn’t ready for a commitment, right? Because if they were ready, caring about their partner would be an integral part of the relationship. If they didn’t care and only want to extract money from someone, that’s pretty terrible behavior. Those people should be avoided.

I never said they were static. I never implied people can’t develop or stumble. It happens all the time. People we work with reconcile after adultery, domestic abuse, addiction, refusing to let the other parent see the child and more. Additionally, seemingly well adjusted people stumble and fall, be it temptation, stress, health issues, the death of a close family member. And yes, money can make it all a lot easier. But none of those are determinative of anybody’s fate. I’m painting with a broad…

I work in a law firm devoted to family law where we deal with divorce, custody battles, and things of that nature. It was very easy for me to become disillusioned with the idea of marriage and think that the whole institution was flawed, but the longer I worked in this field, the more I realized that the flaws of individuals do not translate into flaws of marriage. When people get divorced, it’s because one was not or both of them were not prepared for the commitment. Marriage is actually a wond…

Sure, human beings are not monolithic, but as I said, some men should be told that without certain aspects they aren’t men. And some of those aspects should include responsibility, a strong sense of right and wrong, and ambition to work hard for something you love. If you told me men faced those rules, I wouldn’t call them oppressed. You have a point when you bring up the emasculating phrases like “you throw like a girl” or “real men don’t cry”. But most modern men are learning the truth that me…

You asked about changing laws and removing the necessary “a, b, and c” qualities to be man. That seems to be a frequent concern I notice from feminism-centered perspectives. There’s a great deal men can learn from certain aspects of masculinity being static. For one, many men actually thrive on willingly taking responsibility upon themselves, and I would include being decisive and as well-intentioned as possible with given information when making decisions. Some go further in their definition by…

Men have the advantage of brotherhood. As a definitely not hard and fast or written rule, men you don’t know are often enemies first before a bond can form, men you don’t know well shouldn’t necessarily be extended full trust, and the men you do know well as your friends, those that have suffered alongside you and know your struggle - those are the brothers you can trust. You want to avoid getting shafted by the legal and medical worlds? Get to know good lawyers and doctors as buddies. You want …

I plan to read it when I get home, but it’s an interesting sight to see with the MGTOW crews and men choosing to focus on themselves lately. I’ll see later if there’s anything to it. My suspicion is it will be filled with a bunch of not-subtly-enough “veiled” insults towards men in these scenarios. At least 51% will be blamed on the men themselves, but I am genuinely curious if there is any noticeable trend from those movements.

Get off Reddit and get on google. Find attorney’s that give free consultations and be prepared to pay a few grand. You can set up a consultation, say “Hey, I’ll call you back once I’m ready.” and then go have another consultation. Compare what you hear from each attorney. Trust your judgment and make the best decision you can with the information you have. Don’t decide to do absolutely nothing and suffer needlessly.

Dude, if none of these people are family law attorneys in Colorado, and more specifically the county in which you or the mother lives, you shouldn’t be listening to them. Ask your local community. Somebody you know may have gone through something similar. Get advice on the attorneys or firm to hire. Save your money, and hire a lawyer.

A lot of women don’t work and subsist off child support and remarrying quickly after they have a child or moving back in with their parents. And you’re right that it’s income based, but in the counties I work in, there is actually a limit. And if custody time is heavily in the men’s favor, the women now owe child support. That happens pretty often too. Many men get greater than 50/50, it just takes a while for them to prove themselves and for the mothers to fuck up hard enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/22 11:44 AM

Working in family law, you’ll actually hear a lot of men asking for 50/50. Most don’t get it for two primary reasons (and obviously secondary reasons, but let’s stay on task...). First, they work hella hard. Very admirable, but it’s hard to justify getting 50/50 time when half your time will be with a babysitter, daycare service, or your new romantic partner because you work 50-70 hours a week. If the child has a perfectly good mother who’s available, well guess who should have that time. Second…

I learned about the term FemCel today when a woman called Johnny Depp a pussy for saying he was abused. The OP said “Feeling some major FemCel energy here.” I snorted while laughing. The guys who are involuntarily celibate have some shared characteristics, but seeing some women out there, bless their hearts they sure aren’t alone.

Honestly, it’s a tragedy that men like you don’t have more people in your circles and immediate vicinity. That’s one way social media can be leveraged to a level that required immense effort in the past. If there’s a guy in Singapore that vibes with you, you can connect with him now. Still not easy, but that’s where the connections over social media need to be made sometimes.

I think “feminists” should just be replaced with “people”. I understand this is a community where the discussion is about men and feminists, but truly open and academic discussion is increasingly difficult for me to find.
