Hopefully, this story ends with "I told him to get over himself, he did, and everything was fine for another two to three years but we both found out that we wanted different things in life and split amicably" .... right? 🙃

Sort of relevant: My husband and I have a good friend (male). We had a convo about how women are viewed as commodities, and he threw in a story about how once in school, the boys were asked to draw their "dream woman". I know, ugh. Not just the weird sexism, but also the heteronormativity. Our friend told us that he basically refused the assignment and told the teacher that he just wants to be with someone who loves him and he loves back. Cute story, right? And believe me when I say that this 10…

imagine being a bi woman and letting a man use that to disrespect you by asking to fuck other women... could never be me Girl I didn't ask to be born in a system that told me that sex is strictly happening for men's pleasure. She who never did or said any stupid pick me shit shall throw the first stone. Apart from that, you are correct, bisexuality in women is seen as a performance instead of a sexuality, even by a ton of other queer people. Should my husband ever die, I will just go full on ste…

What the hell am I supposed to do then? I want to help women in my industry, especially queer, disabled, and POC women. I want them to not have to suffer through the same bullshit that I did. This is only possible if I get into positions of power, where I decide who will be employed, who gets the pay raise, who gets assigned to the prestige projects. Am I supposed to just wait until some magical karma force comes along that abolishes capitalism and makes everything right? My folks, women like me…

B-but you're gatekeeping feminism! Why isn't it feminist if I choose to be a live in slave who gets yelled at constantly with no possibility of ever having my own property again? Why isn't it feminist when I'm putting tons of money and time into altering my body in order to fit exactly into my culture's beauty standard? Why isn't it feminist when I do not demand any form of commitment towards me before having sex with a guy, inspite of carrying 100% of the health risks that an unwanted pregnancy…

Oh those were real life examples. No need to be sorry, though, I am mostly over that shit. What I am not over is people repeatedly demanding that I don't "hold on to grudges". I started throwing those people out of my life, too. It's honestly straight up abuse enabling, and I do not need that in my bubble. Why don't you talk to that guy who said rape shouldn't be a punishable crime, maybe he didn't mean it like that? Why can't you come to family meet ups with the cousin who raped you as a kid?" I know you mean well, but please don't do that. It's not the good allyship you think it is. Did you ever, in a mixed gender group, tell a story about how you got harassed at work and one of the guys suddenly says "Wow, that's some bullshit, I apologize on behalf of the male gender!"? It really adds nothing except that the person that was saying it can now feel like they are "one of the good ones" because they apologized. This is exactly why intersectional feminism is so, so important. We all need to put work into understanding the specific issues of WOC, queer women, disabled women, neuroatypical women, poor women. Buy their books. Read their blogs. Watch their YouTube channels. Subscribe to their Twitter. The algorithm won't show them to you on their own, so you need to specifically search them out. I won't dig into that poor girl because I honestly think she's been receiving way too much pressure and hatred in her life. I am just a bit disappointed because I really respected the hell out of her for rejecting this whole "running around half naked is EMPOWERING" narrative - and now she gave in to the pressure. I don't know why men thinking women will love seeing their friends ignored and disrespected and think "oh, that's the way to get this woman". Because it works on a not insignificant amount of women. I really don't get people who are very vocal about pets not liking them because it's really so goddamn easy. Just get down on their level and hold out your hand in front of you in their general direction. 95% of the time they will come to you, sniffle the hand a bit, and then demand ear scratches. Tested on sheep, dogs, cats, horses, cows, bunnies, and even a toddler. It's like they have exactly one rule, and that is "I decide when touch happens". How is that so fucking hard.

Yeah it was the same for me. I was 16 when I met my husband. And let me tell you, I was a very very stupid kid, but even I knew that marrying too early in life can fuck people up badly. I wanted to wait until I got my degree and a secure job until I marry. Thankfully, the culture I grew up in does in general not put too much of a pressure on women to get married early, so things worked out just fine for me. Hope they will work out for you, too!

Not to rain on your parade or something, but they do very much fight against the lib fem spaces (and also the ones that are just women aligned). When you go on new feminism or troll X posts you'll regularly see like 5 dudes in the comment section throwing a tantrum.

Friendly reminder for the women that come along posts like this and feel bad over not wanting to marry: It's fine if you don't want to, and if you need more time to figure things out. The advice on FDS is often geared towards non-teens and women who have to secure a man in marriage in order to have legal protection in case he turns out to be a bad person after 1, 5, 10, 20 years. If you just don't want to do that, it's fine.

Hey I don't know why you chose to use that language like I'm somehow your enemy. I also want female liberation, and I also think we pretty much have to burn the whole of society to the ground and build it anew to reach that. So ...I was part of that crowd, and I think part of my thinking came from a misunderstanding that feminists need to always aim for equality. This thought led to me trying desperately to be the non-angry feminist©. Like, this wise contempt being that isn't unfair towards the male side, ever. And I am still convinced that in the big end goal, there should be equality. For example, if men and women earn the same and the cost of living for men and women is also the same and the danger of rape and ab…

Okay here's a little story. My husband and I are the kind of couple where we both have full access to each others phones. Also, when he is driving or cooking or something and his phone beeps, he'll usually ask me to write back for him, and the other way around, too. I really cannot imagine it any other way. Oh we did speak up. Both of us. My husband was ready to fight for my right to being put first, which is sadly not something that all women can claim. The (female) consulter who helped us with that said that it really pisses her off, too. She tried asking for other options several times, because other customers of hers were asking about that, too. I am the main money earner in our household. It is literally my fucking money, and I wasn't even addressed in the first letter they sent us. This hits really close to home. Just take one look at the hatred that women who love Disney get. From men and, what's even worse, from other women who had to transition into complete adulthood at like 18 because they got married and were expected to have kids immediately. I thinka good chunk of their anger at me enjoying my 20s with stuff that I like comes from having been forced into being "serious" so soon in their lives and other people like me who decided to not do this brings up a lot of hu…

You said "with all females" instead of "with all women". Female is an adjective. That means it's used with a noun in order to further describe the noun. For example "a female teacher" or "a female firefighter" or "all female engineers". Using it as a noun should only be done when describing female animals. For example "This is a school of clown fish. The females of the species are usually smaller than the males." would be perfectly fine. But you used it to describe female humans. We already have…

That, plus I would also argue that even when a very privileged woman throws hundreds of dollars into make up and beauty (same for other kinds of performative femininity), it's not all that much of a free choice either. How come men, in general, don't do that? How come men don't wear uncomfortable high heels or make up? Damn, it's almost like it ain't that free of a choice.

Yes, they absolutely do! But it's not like everyone has to date within the same race, and it's also not like the systemic opression of for example black women does magically make the systemic opression that black men face on the hands of white men go away. All I'm saying is that I would deem it pretty valid when a man who does of course not face misogyny, but racism or ableism instead, loathes his workplace. OPs post seems to only work under the assumption that men cannot face systemic opression…

I know 100% what you mean, but sadly the reality of highly patriarchical cultures doesn't always work that way. It's sometimes(!) easier to do 90% of the housework and give up fighting instead of standing against your whole environment of family and friends. Each woman on earth every day stands before choices that will either brand them "unruly" and "difficult", or will leave them to do disrespected and unpaid labor (be it emotionally or physically). Why do you even bother wasting time to turn some Kevin McXbox into a functioning human adult instead of living alone comfortably until a functioning human adult that is compatible with you comes along? Hey there I know that this comment is like ages old but is there a sub for radfem witches? Also, I've been on WvP for a while and I didn't exactly experience that whole silencing of women (yet) - have you got some examples ready for it being not women friendly? Not claiming that you're lying or anything, I just wanna know exactly what I am getting into compared to the amount of bullshit that I can currently bear to live with, if you know what I mean

Wait a second we have to talk about this. Why do you, a fully fledged human being, have to beg him to go to the doctor? Do you live in one of the sadly many countries where you need your husband to allow you this? Is there any way out of the situation? Do you have a safe place to go? Your mother, a friend of yours, a supportive auntie? Can someone help you?

Also, please please please don't forget to teach him to not just trust other men, too. When you look at rape statistics, the most common form is definitely man on woman - but the second most common form is man on man. Especially if he turns out to be gay or bi, he is at great danger of being abused by other men. The techniques on FDS don't only work for women. Most of them are great techniques on how to choose who to engage with in general.

There's situations where shit like this happens, especially during the big Rona. Just make sure to protect yourself from guys who just want to leech of you, and all is well (if he provides a lot of value for your life on other aspects). Thanks. Now that I've read the other responses though, I also feel the need to say the following: OP, this ain't your fault. It ain't your fault that horrible, horrible people like this exist. It ain't your fault what happened to the other woman, either. It's HIS fault, and HIS FAULT ALONE. We all had those moments where we froze like deers in the headlight. Nah girl. Don't even start with that whole "ugly women don't deal with the same amount harassment or assault or groping" woe-is-me BS. My whole life I have tried hard to be invisible to strange men. It. Doesn't. Work. I have been through ALL the things you listed, while being overweight with no make up on, wearing oversized T-shirts. And believe me when I say I am no "natural beauty" either. I personally do think that doesn't go for students in the same way (or in general, for people who aren't self-reliant yet). I mean, I met my husband when I was 16. Marrying at 18 would NOT have been a good idea. 17yo girls don't just suddenly become fully fledged women with strong personalities and the ability to establish boundaries on their 18th birthday. At 18, you still got a lot of learning and testing yourself out to do. Marriage is a decision that is going to greatly influence the rest of…

What kind of horrible human being uses and manipulates another human being like that? Someone who's very obviously not having any loving safety net? I just can't imagine ever wanting to hurt someone like that, it literally hurts me to know that such people exist.

I feel so, so sorry for his ex. Imagine what she must have gone through with that sack of shit. The emotional work she must have put into "healing" him. The heartbreak when she realised he can't be trusted and that she can't do shit about it and all her efforts were wasted.

I love your comment, but that last message bugs me. There are no neutral men. What you meant to say here was "rape/abuse/murder enablers", because that is what they are. Every man who has ever did nothing when his friend was not leaving a girl alone in the club is responsible for what happened. Every man who kept quiet when his friends made "Grab them by the pussy" style jokes is responsible for what happened. Every man didn't speak out in meeting where it was discussed on if they should employ …

Huh, I sort of see what you mean, they do seem to use some of the same lingo. I concede. Okay now am I the only one who thinks this is fake as hell? Sorry but that sounds like it was written by someone who has completely assumed the perspective of FDS, and I doubt that even the most feminist man on earth would write about himself and other men this way. Not that it wouldn't be kind of cool to have a guy think like this, but do you think this would be the wording of someone who's stopped watching porn not even a month ago? Nah sorry that message really isn't doing it for me. That isn't hygiene. Hygiene is brushing your teeth, using deodorant, keeping your nails clean, and washing your ass. Stuff like this. Additional skin care and stuff like that is not hygiene. It's additional stuff that should be entirely optional (which it really isn't for women, but that's not the point I'm making). I 100% see where you come from and I didn't want to imply there should be any wiggle room. It's of course never ever ever anyones job to do emotional labour for someone they went on one date with. And I know what you mean with autistic scrotes - you would think that living in a world that isn't made for them would make all male autists a bit more humble and understanding of women's issues, but for some of them it just elevates the entitlement. I'm also autistic and have become so good at masking that people pretty much don't notice anymore - but I still blurt out stupid and insensitive shit sometimes. I usually notice by the reactions around me and apologize and explain myself, but sometimes I don't. It happens, and I'm always happy if people take the time to explain to me what went wrong with the interaction, but they are of course not obligated to. I see three possible explanations for men saying stuff like that. He was negging you. Then he's a manipulative and possibly abusive asshat. Not husband material. He's 15 and doesn't know how to talk to people he likes yet. Not husband material. He's got autism. Rough for him because he can't figure out what he did wrong just based on the fact that you left, but it definitely ain't your obligation to help him get better at communicating, nor is it your obligation to give him the "benefit of doubt…

You keep negging yourself and putting yourself down. So far you've called yourself arrogant and privileged - but not in a good way. It seems you have some self worth/esteem issues here maybe? It's like you're using anything you can to beat yourself up and put yourself down. I'm guessing other people (family) have done that a lot and you've absorbed the habit and mindset. Thank you for the advice. You're probably correct that I should use current news events - sadly, we as a society never run out of abused women in the media. Maybe it was arrogant to try and draw some sort of power out of my story, I don't know. It just helped me sort out a lot of people in my life, starting with my own parents, and now I have a much better and stronger network of friends than I ever had before. I 100% understand, and I'm sorry if I made you feel like you shouldn't protect yourself. I'm using this as sort of a defense mechanism. If the person I'm telling this to doesn't react with empathy, they are out. From this, I can clearly see if they blame women for the shortcomings of men, or if they are a actually able to see that we shouldn't blame the victim for the assholery of the perpetrator. I didn't mean to blame anyone who doesn't do this the way I do, though. And I can completely see wh…

I 100% understand which moral dilemma you live in. I really do. And I didn't mean to judge any woman that bases her choices around these facts, if it came across that way. I'm probably really privileged in my situation, but I've made it a standard for me that I won't be blamed for other peoples shortcomings anymore, so I'm using the disclosure of my past as sort of a vetting mechanism. If the person I'm disclosing this to doesn't answer with anything but understanding and kindness, they are not …

I kinda sorta disagree with you. If your potential partner cannot accept the fact that you have a past, they aren't worth shit. I see the need to protect yourself, but do you really want a guy who thinks that you're lesser because an ex treated you badly? Just some food for thought, not criticizing your defense mechanisms. EDIT: I see now that this comment came from a position of privilege. It's the privilege of mostly choosing what men I interact with. I've been using my past trauma as a filter…

I'm sick and tired of women being expected to build up a man right at the start of a relationship. Like, if you've been happily married with a great man for 17 years and suddenly his best friend dies and he's traumatized and looses his job over his bad performance? That's cool if you stand by his side and don't give up on him. Sure, build him up. Try and fix him. But fixing him right when you enter a relationship? Turning him into an actual grown up? Having to ask him to wipe his ass after shitt…

Is it though? Is that really easier? I think it's quite the opposite. I think our patriarchal society relies on women to tell other women to not demand too much in order to not be branded "radical feminist". It's easier for men to then point at those women and say "See, a woman agrees, so the shit I'm pulling is not unfair towards you!". It's also easier because then women are suddenly occupied on arguing each other instead of pulling each other up. But is it easier for the woman who is exerting…

Okay maybe I can answer this. I'm a person that genuinely says "dick size doesn't matter" because quite frankly, I'm not all that into mere PIV sex. Like, that's just the most boring part, lol. For me, it matters way more if the guy listens to what I want (and not just does what he thinks women want). It also matters way more to me if he actually puts value on my pleasure.
