This post conjures up a visual of the modern world as a battlefield, with men on one side and women on the other, and marriage a heavily shelled no-one's-land in between that is rapidly becoming untenable for anyone to inhabit. Out here in the real world, men and women are coexisting just fine. My lab's PI is a woman, as are many of my co-workers and fellow researchers (oh no, women infiltrating STEM, where they will replace empiricism with feelings!), and everybody acts like an adult, and some …

What evidence are you reading? I'd appreciate some links. I'm intensely curious to see what research you could possibly have found that shows large gender differences without being confounded by environmental factors. As for the anecdote that 'women do well in feminine areas of interest,' I think that's fairly easy to explain as a result of less social stigma attaching to women who enter such areas, thus removing a barrier faced by women entering less traditionally feminine careers.

I believe that the research (both human and non-human primate research) supports the claim that children's play preferences are influenced by sex hormones. However, in practice I think the evidence is clear that social factors have a much larger effect on career choices. As a general principle, whatever cognitive differences have been found between genders are generally minute in comparison to the magnitude of individual variation within a gender AND also minute compared to the effects of upbrin…

I have a master's degree in neuroscience. I have studied neuroscience for close to a decade now. Some of my coursework has centered specifically on the question of gender differences in the brain; this topic has always fascinated me. I feel at least somewhat qualified to speak on this topic because not only have I spent some considerable amount of time reading and writing about this particular issue, but I also have a good deal of scientific training in interpreting and assessing scientific evid…

I'm not going to deny that Hollywood sells a shitty version of 'how to find love.' Trying to imitate the tropes you see in movies will get you shitty relationships, just like trying to imitate porn will get you shitty sex. So no, I'm NOT going to say that certain segments of our culture haven't sold OP a narrative where he should 'just be himself' and 'be nice,' or that that isn't sometimes counterproductive advice. I'm just going to say that the answer isn't 'stop being nice,' it's 'also do the…

Blue Pill man here. Go ahead and lift. Most people find fitness attractive. The only difference between me and TRP is that I won't imply that you're a shitty human being and deserve misery if you don't decide to lift and instead decide that you're OK with where you are now. As for hobbies, who the hell is against hobbies? I'd go insane without hobbies. And hobbies are a GREAT way to both gain confidence and meet people. I don't think any blue pillers are going to tell you to just accept who you …

I would like to try to give this a thorough answer. Let me state up front that I am NOT an evolutionary biologist. I am, however, a neuroscientist (obtained masters degree, working on PhD), and I have taken coursework in evolutionary biology & psychology (/ethology) and am currently assisting in teaching an evolution & behavior course. About the popularity of PIV: Most straight and bisexual women I know (who are pretty much all feminists, for whatever that's worth) do not feel that PIV is inhere…

I certainly don't disbelieve you. I know every group/movement/political identity has its pockets of shitty people (though they may differ on how big the pockets are). I guess I just try and make the best of it, by associating with people whose views on that topic ARE genuinely positive but who still retain the ability to think critically about how the SAHM vs. Career Woman (if I were to simplify it into a dichotomy) cultural pressures play out on a larger scale. Naturally I also have to acknowle…

Obviously I'm aware that my view does not represent the views of all feminists or all "BPers," but I would have to say that most of the feminists I have known have nothing against femininity or housewifery. My wife is a feminist, as am I, and she wants to be a stay at home mom. Feminism, from my perspective, isn't about telling women to act a certain way: It's about making sure that a woman is free to choose whether she wants to be a stay at home mom or a politician or a doctor or a businesswoma…

I guess I half see your point, but I've been in monogamous relationships for most of my life and never had any issues with partner count then either. Ain't no cognitive dissonance going on there. And while I believe that what you say about TRP's attitude towards slut shaming only coming up in certain contexts is probably true for some TRPers, there seem to be an awful lot who are jumping on any excuse to yell from the rooftops how important slut shaming is for keeping dem sluts in line. Not sayi…

Right, so, like I said, pick a partner with a low partner count if you want to. Just don't be a prick and go on to anyone who will listen about how women with high partner counts are whores. I'm fine with a Catholic dude, for example, wanting to marry a Catholic woman. It's when the Catholic dude starts going on about how non-Catholic women are worthless and going to hell that I start to think he's a douche.

To me (a feminist man), it's simply never been something I thought about. I wasn't raised in an environment where that was something people gave a shit about (non-religious upbringing). I've been with people with a high partner count, and people with a low partner count, had fun either way, dgaf. Married a woman with a high partner count, no complaints, she's great in bed. If I'm being honest, any rationale I give you for why I don't care is going to be empty. I don't care because I don't have a…

I'm a broke-ass grad student. No, I'm not ripped, I'm fucking 5'8" 130. I don't think anyone I know denies that having a lot going on for you increases your attractiveness to (most) other people... That's not "red pill theory," that's common sense. You may have it in your head that feminists (whether male or female) don't think that it's true that many people are attracted to success and good looks (although there's some pretty significant variation in what people find attractive), but that's re…

I'm not going to show you pictures, so you're going to have to take my word for it. I'm moderately attractive. You can probably dig up a photo if you stalk my post history. I'm on the thin side, (about 130 at 5' 8"), decent facial features, I suppose. My wife's body type I would call average. She's in between skinny and fat, and I find her very attractive. My girlfriend (or whatever you want to call her) is thin, and a tiny bit taller than I am. I consider her to be very attractive also, althoug…

Male feminist here. Married, having sex with wife. Also have girlfriend (am polyamorous) so getting laid there too. [edit] I should add that most of the men I know who identify as feminists are also getting laid, most of them with multiple people. Kinda makes the whole "TRP" thing easier to ignore.

/u/pillburt, /u/astoldbyramsay, and /u/rp132 (as well as any other RP who wish to chime in), I would like to particularly request that you read through my post and give me your honest thoughts about it. Here's a slightly different "blue pill" response to OP's question: I think that some percentage of women ARE definitely attracted to the kind of behavior RP espouses. At the broadest level, many women are attracted to confident men. At a narrower level, I think there are plenty of women who are a…

I will admit that you have a point about me being out of place / intrusive here. You've made your point, I should leave RPW alone. Although I still profoundly disagree with what you have to say about feminism.

All right, fair enough, I have to admit that /u/Wahre_Murikanische has a point. I probably shouldn't be stirring shit up on someone else's subreddit. I'll be honest, I just followed a link here and then got ticked off by seeing a really dumb joke that implies all feminist men are submissive (and implying that there's something inherently wrong with submissive men, as opposed to that being something some women aren't attracted to). I should've kept my mouth shut. I'll show myself out.

This attitude that other human beings don't deserve basic respect / have intrinsic worth just for being people really seems to run down to the core of this subreddit.

I'm going to try to reply to as many replies as possible here, rather than making separate replies to each comment. First off, thank you all for what are mostly pretty well thought out responses. I have to be honest and say I was expecting a lot less from you guys, and it's pleasant to be wrong. As regards the pay gap: Extracting correlation and causation is extremely difficult here. As a scientist I'm quite familiar with the messy, multi-directional relationship between biology, experience (soc…

OK. I want to ask a question. I am a feminist. I'm a 26 year old man. Whatever difference that makes. Every now and then the topic of r/mensrights comes up in conversation with friends, and we debate whether 'MRAs' are people with legitimate concerns and the ability to see both sides of an issue fairly but who are angry because they feel some of their concerns aren't taken seriously, or single-mindedly misogynistic sociopaths with a persecution complex who are never more than 2 beers away from r…
