Pretty sure law is mostly done by intent not by outcome. If you plan on murdering someone it's punished about as harshly as murder.

How so? Being falsely accused and convicted of rape is clearly worse than being raped. I'd rather be raped than be send to prison, have my career ruined and have my family think I am a rapist. How you could say otherwise is baffling to me and I'd honestly love to hear your argument for it.

So if a rapists comes clean we shouldn't punish him so other rapists won't fear of coming forward? Falsely accusing someone of rape is essentially as bad as rape, it will ruin their entire lives.
