It could be no different than it is. If that isn't something being as it should be, what is? Moreover, what good does stewing in bitterness over it do you?

It ultimately depends on your definition of fine. Everything is exactly as it should be, and could in fact be no different than it is. Making yourself unhappy about it will do no you no good, and stymies improvement.

Obviously. Equally obvious is the fact that the only way to get back at them is to stew in seething resentment. But to be serious, even putting yourself at fault isn't necessary. It's not actually your fault, nor their fault or anyone else's, it just is. You're just the only one who can do anything about it.

Yeah, I'm not without my problems, but getting better at just accepting what is without bitterness vastly improved my life; I don't feel like I want to die anywhere near as often as I used to. Learning to introspect non-judgementally, while not exactly meditation, helped immensely.

Man, I know the word therapy gets thrown around a lot, but a lot of you motherfuckers really need it, specifically a good psychoanalyst; holding on to embittering grudges is doing none of you any good.

I don't actually give a rat's ass about the data, because the idea of the humanities as hard sciences is a sad fucking joke. You can limitlessly reinterpret this information more or less willy nilly, nevermind the fact the fact that this runs smack dab into a definitional problem, because language is instrinsically baseless and ambiguous meaning that the whole thing is effectively a language game - attractive means different things to different individuals and it's not like they were hooking any…

Lady, you've just met me. You don't know shit about what I do or don't accept of data. I assure you that I am in fact an entirely separate goomba.

There is no objective metric to such. To some it would be what people generally rate their looks to be, but there's no intrinsic epistemological validity to consesus; large groups of people are quite frequently wrong about things (do we really have to go over the long list of things that we assumed we correct in history?) and so there's no conclusive basis to say that these guy's estimation that they're attractive because they can occasionally land an attractive women if they push through a suff…

delusion This doesn't mean what you think it means. A delusion is something rooted in a psychotic disconnect from reality; something which has no basis in reality. If men are out there evaluating their attractiveness differently from how others evaluate their attractiveness but most are still ultimately finding partners and reproducing, it's clear that there must be some grain of truth in their self-assessment, as evidenced by actual, tangible outcomes. That is not a delusion, that's a disagreem…

Men would never get anywhere if they didn't think they had a enough of a chance to be worth taking a shot, since they have to take on a significant emotional risk in the earliest stages. But there's a paradoxical effect to self-perceived attractiveness, in which a person who perceives themselves as less attractive will defensively raise their standards to protect an already fragile self image, since accepting a less attractive partner would be taken as confirmation of what they fear about themse…

I think that when men talk about harsh beauty standards against themselves, they're talking about what it takes to be desired enough by women that dating is a matter of mutual effort in which they have actual options outside of "take whatever comes along" and "be alone", whereas when women talk about harsh beauty standards against themselves, they're talking about what it takes to get men to effectively pay to look at them through favors, perks or sometimes just straight up money. This can be ob…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
