Really low cost of living, very good public transportation, and wanted a change of scenery. I live in a pretty decent sized college town in Turkey, the men are pretty hot, and I can walk everywhere within 20mins (3-5mins for shops and restaurants). ETA: some examples of my low cost of living, my apartment in a luxury building is $380 (including utilities), I had takeout for the past 72hrs daily and it wasn’t more than $3 and $5-6 if it’s more expensive restaurants.

The big thing that’s helped me is telling normal friends about it. For example, I have a really amazing boyfriend right now but I went out with some friends and wanted to hangout with a guy I found attractive, but saying it out loud around them fixed it. They kept saying noo you have a bf, and it helped me weigh the pros/cons real quick (new guy may not be as good in bed, we might not mesh personality wise, I’d lose someone I have history with and they loves me) etc.

I mean, Zelle asks me 2-3x every time I try to send money to someone not in my contacts, with pop ups. The issue is that people are legitimately stupid. They get a text saying it’s from Wells Fargo and there is $3500 Zelle transfer on hold so call this number in the text. They should call the bank directly (# on your card), and know that in no world is a bank asking you for your login information (username AND password) to confirm your identity. It’s not a Zelle problem, it’s a user problem.

That’s how everyone does it. You enter with that and then get your paperwork sorted to apply for residency. I should be fine since the cap on immigrants isn’t big in my city but it’s still nerve wrecking. People apply for the tourist residency (1yr) and just renew it every year. Since I won’t ever work for a Turkish company, I am not missing out on much (no work permit under tourist residency for example).
