The only "really" fair and equal option would be some kind of point system where you have a relative low (starting) payment and you get extra money depending on the amount of work you did. I know that is pretty much impossible but it definitely would be fair. You would only get less money if you work less.

If it's just about the loneliness to something with friends or if you can and want get a pet. You'll get rid of the need to be with someone over time. Programming is a horrible job? Does she even know what that is? But I agree the other jobs are horrible and not pay that well. My father is a truck driver and only earns 1.6k after taxes and thats with over 40h per week. My grandfather was a roofer (should be close enough to construction worker). He loved his job but he also didn't earn that much and almost died because of his job. Those jobs need way more attention and they have to earn more for those dangerous jobs.
