Women back in the day (pioneer days) had to know how to do all kinds of "handyman" type jobs. Especially if her husband was a rancher and would be gone for months at a time. If something broke around the house, she would have to fix it. Repair fences, fix a leak in the roof, etc. She'd also need to know how to shoot a gun, shoe horses, rig a horse and wagon and drive it, all sorts of stuff.

I'm really curious where my privilege is at, I've been looking for it ever since I discovered I'm apparently supposed to have it for being a straight white male. Before I got laid off last year (wait, I'm white where's my privilege?) between the months of January and August, I worked ~1700 hours right alongside blacks, Hispanics and Asians in a manufacturing plant. I think I read somewhere (likely on Reddit) about an older man who killed two teenagers who broke into his house, but he was charged with murder because he apparently shot them after "they were no longer a threat." But this lady, who admits to killing him "in self-defense" when the corpse evidence points to murder might get off? Gotta love the "justice" in this country.
