Personally, I don't care what happens as long as it's consistent. If that means alimony always lasts for the rest of their life, fine. If that means no one ever receives alimony payments, that is also fine. If two people cannot agree on this, they absolutely should split up. You will probably ask "why not adopt/use a surrogate", and the simple answer is that it's not the same. Most people would prefer to have their own kid - as seen by the large number of kids needing adoption or living in foster homes. But the point is that if men had the choice to walk away, many more women would be unable to financially support the child and thus choose abortion. I'd rather have fewer children in our society and more abortions than have a surplus of unwanted/unintended children being raised by single mothers and growing up in poverty. Sometimes shit like that happens in life, and you need to try your best to prepare for it. Therefore, I think it should be 100% the woman's decision if she wants to carry that child to term. That is her opportunity to make her choice to raise the child or not.
