I was raised by a working STEM industry mom and a stay at home dad. They later got divorced, in part due to underlying gender issues. I studied a great deal of Anthropology while getting a degree in linguistics in college. I then shocked everyone by becoming a gasp housewife and later a homeschooling mom. There's a lot of hate out there for housewives! This prompted a great deal of reading on the subject of gender studies, and it's not cut and dried, black and white. So I started out very blue i…

Thank you for this. As a survivor of an abusive relationship, the Dread Game posts are very disturbing to me. The techniques they use create an intermittent reward system. In an abusive relationship, trying to figure out how to get your boyfriend to be nice to you, (and he is, once in a while) becomes as addictive a a slot machine. They are giving an emotional abuse how-to guide. It's incredibly unethical.

"The only way to get married is through mutual love." I agree wholeheartedly. I seem to see very few post on TRP saying, in essence, "I'm dating a great woman and we're getting married.". Or even posts stating something positive about women that is lovable, other than as eye candy or an orifice. Do you think that following TRP ideas can lead to a happy marriage?

I think you've exaggerated the point a bit, but there is a small amount of truth there. Women that feel like they don't care much at age 20 suddenly care a bit more if they are many years into an LTR. That mirrors my life pretty perfectly. My looks are only one aspect of why my husband finds me attractive, but they are a factor. When I was younger I didn't think very much about my looks, but I was aware that other people found the way girls look to be extremely important. I think that, regardles…

I think this makes a good point. Women, but especially mothers, are kind of in a damned if you do, damned if you don't position. I'm currently a SAHM, and I've had some pretty nasty things said to me about it. My friends who work outside the home also have nasty things said to them. Every choice a woman makes, someone is ready to criticize. Now that we have more of an actual choice, we're less happy as a whole because there is no objectively right choice.

True, maybe I'm too jaded to give the author of the second comment the benefit of the doubt. I will say that I started reading TRP, MRP and askMRP with a fairly open mind. I am happily married, I have sons, and my husband has done some pro-fatherhood voulenteer work. That's one reason why I am so disappointed by what I consider harmful views about the "true nature of women".

That is a really good point. It can be difficult to quantify a lot of these statements. I would reply only that "All the women I've dated have been dumb" is a substantially different statement than "All women are dumb." The former reminds you that 'dumb' is probably being used in a somewhat subjective way, with many limitations; if the latter is a core principle of belief, and brings waves of agreement, that's a group that is spreading misinformation. The second statement seems to imply that bei…

Perhaps I should edit my comment, good point.

These are all very good points and worth discussing. To me, the problem is that these ideas are not being promoted in this way at all. For example, this post about oral sex on ask married red pill: https://www.reddit.com/r/askMRP/comments/4c66dt/does_she_actually_enjoy_giving_bjs/ Fakefalse: "I guess a part of me forgot that women are capable of empathy" Stonepimpletilists: "Guys get gushy when their kids eyes light up at christmas over the new thing. It's not empathy, it's accomplishment. I did…

I agree with pretty much everything you said. The problem is that both men and women can choose to be sympathetic, or not. TRP specifically says that women are unable to empathize with men, implying that men are able to empathize with women. That is my problem. And yes, women have trouble remembering that it is not as easy for a man to score a first date with a potential mate, just as men have trouble remembering that women don't always want a one night stand, and the commitment they want is not…

"More verbal isn't more logical.". I never said it was. And neither is it less logical. I said there is no proof that women are less able to reason or use logic. Your experience that women talk about using their intuition when making decisions means that they use their emotional responses as ONE type of input, which may be logical. For example: " This man scares me (for reasons such as manner of dress, body language, etc.). The last time a man scared me, I was mugged. Therefore, I will cross the…

There is a very large gulf between coincidence and proven causal factor. They are not merely saying that "the women I've dated have all become disgusted when I express certain emotions". They are saying things like " Women are intrinsically Machiavellian " and "Honor is a male concept that women don't have". You don't get to hold opinions like these about 51% of the human race if you are unwilling to entertain any evidence to the contrary, at least not without making huge numbers of people close…

True..... DO you have any evidence tending to support any of these theses?

SMH. Thank you for stating your anecdotal beliefs as fact and serving as an excellent illustration of my post. Things like " women have greater cognitive dissonance in relationships " is something that can be falsifiable, and therefore requires evidence. The idea that a woman "typically gets a large portion of his assets" is also easy to disprove. I might decide to have the opinion that men typically beat their wives, or some such nonsense, and it would be about as useful as these statements are…

Empathy is an ability. Sympathy is a choice.

Expressions of sympathy are not the same as the existence of empathy. Empathy is the ability to percieve and share in another person's point of view. It originates in the anterior insular cortex and can be identified using an MRI. Are you seriously stating that women somehow lose this ability when the subject is a man she is in love with? By what mechanism? I find your information on single men vs divorced men very interesting. But it is, of course, negated when children are involved. In that ca…

I suspect we dont agree on what empathy means. It does not mean "self centered" or "thoughtless". And if you are saying that women are more self centered in relationships, do you have any evidence for that or is it just your personal opinion based on your personal experiences?

I am not guilty of anything. I am not trying to spread an ideological belief system that should be subject to critique based on a lack of evidence. I am only saying that the current evidence based understanding of these concepts directly opposes the new belief system TRP endorses. It is their job to show why the current understanding is wrong.

Ah, very interesting! Thank you, this is exactly the sort of thing that I find relevant to these discussions.

How is "women have scientific evidence of empathy" sexual strategy advice? Also, how did you miss: "This is not to say that the RP ideas about how to have a successful relationship are right or wrong. "

TRP men is a self selecting group of men. All women is 51% of the human race. There is a big difference in making generalizations between the two.

So you believe in a concept that not only has no observable evidence supporting it (scientifically true), but also doesn't mean what the words of the acronym actually mean. (Linguistically true)? That's... Um..... Rational. LOL

They are counting new marriages and new divorces. Most people will neither get married nor will they get divorced in a given year. And, most adults are married. So the divorce rate is not 40 percent. If a town had 2 divorces and one wedding in a year's time, is the divorce rate 200 percent?

You have your opinion; I have mine. I've supported my husband through his job loss, his depression, and we have a special needs child (which leads to discussions about our feelings and worries about him.). I have no reason to "fear losing my meal ticket" since he's a man and keeps his commitments. I very much do have real passion for him. The difference is that I feel great during and after. He loves that I honestly enjoy myself during.

I am a woman who likes making my guy happy like this. But then, he's never accused me of not being capable of empathy. That's just ridiculous.

1 percent? BS. I personally know of three families where the wife was dumped and replaced with a 20-ish girlfriend or new wife. Most men AND women are not wired to do that. Do people, including women, sometimes jump right into another relationship, possibly with someone they've been cheating with? Yeah, they do. I'm baffled by the notion that only women do this.

The other point of hypergamy is that a woman can with the most casual indifference replace her partner like a disposable product because she can. And she feels next to nothing about this. She will even backwards-rationalise that he was controlling or abusive. This is jaw droopingly wrong. I've been with my husband for well over a decade, and the notion that he could ever be "disposable" to me is incredibly offensive. You honestly think that ALL or even MOST women are basically sociopaths? The on…
