The suggestion I saw in this thread about not giving the guy whiplash was spot on. Assuming you managing things in an acceptable manner, There are good out there who will see you past it, and there are good men out there who even if they do see you as more then your trauma won’t choose you. Weather that’s because, like me, they have been down the road before or they know they can’t handle it or because what they want from their partner is forward facing and trauma if often behind us.

I get the correlation considering how he phrased it. The latter can be brought on by the former but they are independent traits/flags. Something legitimately tragic happened. But it was a long time ago and they never emotionally recovered. It’s sad and you can feel sympathetic but it doesn’t mean you want that person in your life. It’s not a necessarily a gendered problem but it does make for a huge red flag.

I carry this mentality even past relationships and into my friendships. I try to kick the door in by treating them and seeing if they will treat me back once. After that I DONT keep score and we’ll still split often but having friends where we treat each other sometimes is great.

I worked in the jail. So after. Some admitted. others even bragged but they generally went believed. The true killers tended to be better behaved than the wannabes. Obviously some of this is conjecture or rumors. Most weren’t even there for more than a single murder. But nearly the entire population came from a several block radius on either side of the main highway through the city and their reputations proceeded them. At least as far as the other inmates.

My dad had a ludicrously common name. Every single time he enters the US they pull him to the security office because some one with the same name and birthday did something years ago. Never mind different different ssn, citizenship, dozens of confirmed checks that he’s a different person, different face. Then last weeks he finds out that two days ago another person with his name and DOB did something. So it’ll be even worse
