I was thinking of the Domestic Abuse Helpline for Men & Women. According to their website, they focus on men, since there are so few resources available to them, but they help anyone who calls. I was hoping to maybe organize something similar to what /r/atheism does every year... maybe even try to get /r/feminism involved, though I doubt that'd be taken well by many people.

That wasn't intended to mock; I was in a bad mood and being too flippant. The criticism is genuine and, I think, accurate. Raising awareness is all well and good, but there also needs to be a solution for people to be aware of. Edit: Btw, I did ask the mods if I could start a charity drive for an organization against domestic violence, but they said that I shouldn't since I wasn't well-accepted in the community. I think they're probably right about that. I've tried suggesting it to others twice,…

Someone posted here asking about it yesterday. Here is the thread.

...How are you supposed to know whether a joke about traumatizing victimization is offensive or not? How about a little common sense? It doesn't matter if the person you're speaking to isn't a victim; chances are, they have a friend or family member who was. No one should be okay with shaming victims of real violence by comparing them to a loss on a video game.

...what the everloving fuck are you talking about? The conversation is about a hypothetical; you don't prove hypotheticals.

Why is misogyny unacceptable, especially given the way women behave? Maybe I misinterpreted, but that seemed to imply that misogyny should be acceptable... or at least not unacceptable.

It's not an embarrassment to our gender any more than male rapists are an embarrassment to the male gender. That aside, YAY equality! (waves pompoms)

Just so no one else gets disappointed, that is not a real subreddit. =(

Drugs feel awesome, too... doesn't mean we need to be okay with children shooting heroin.

Is this a serious thing in the UK? Or is it just a fringe movement?

I'm not talking about the MRM. Clearly, the concept is one of equality, and I respect and support it. What I'm talking about are specific MRAs who do a disservice to the movement. It's important to make that distinction, otherwise you'll end up making blanket statements and, after that, vilifying individuals for the words and actions of a group.

I assume that's what happened, anyway. I've never seen it happen with comments, but I see it a lot with posts that are removed by mods. As far as I know, there's no other reason that it would show up in his history but not in the thread. I don't see anything particularly bad about the comment, either. I disagree with it, but he wasn't rude.

That means it was removed by a mod.

I can't say I've ever heard a feminist say that men in the friendzone are oppressive. Desperate and pathetic, sure... maybe even manipulative, but not oppressive.

Even assuming that's true, what the hell does it have to do with the friendzone?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
