That's really awesome OP, congratulations on your new position! I've been attending a RCC for over a year now as a client, and while hugely intimidating at first (as I'm certain it is for female clients too) it's had a huge, positive impact on my life. I've never been made to feel anything other than 100% welcome, and I'm so thankful of that. It's really fantastic what you're about to do, and I'm sure you're gonna help so many women and men. Seriously, way to go. Thank you for choosing to work w…

The title: "notice the woman" Why? There's nothing to notice about her since the clip really shouldnt be about her at all. "Just stand there" Are you seriously suggesting that saying "look at the woman standing there doing nothing" isn't shaming? Nice try. I am proud of those men, I'm proud of men in general. But the title is a not so subtle dig at that woman for freezing up, which is spoiling it for me.

So by all means praise the guys who went out of their way to assess the situation and help those people. There's no need to draw attention and shame the woman for freezing up.

You know freezing when being caught in or witnessing a traumatic event, is a natural response, right? God this sub is getting increasingly more petty day after day..

Hmm, 10 months is actually a pretty decent sentence for revenge porn basically. Fucking hell though people actually protested?! Tens of thousands rally behind a sex offender because she's a woman. Gross.

No, there's no error in your title, I just don't see how this is a men's issue.

It does? I don't remember ever being auto subbed to TwoX. Maybe this is a new thing? Dont like the idea of being auto subbed, or being part of a community that is auto subbed if most wouldn't be interested in it. Besides, TwoXChromosomes is just a general women's sub to talk about whatever, not inherently ideological. It's not an activist sub.

Will a woman who has sex with a man against his will, be charged in the exact same way with the exact same penalties as a man who has sex with a woman against her will? If the answer is no, it is blatant discrimination. Besides, a man or a woman who was forced to have sex by a woman, should ge able to label it as what it is; rape.

I didn't like the videos. I found them cringey and had me rolling my eyes more than often. Oh they're beating up the straw-man feminist ha ha ha. But wow, they actually deleted his account over them? Way to blow things so far out of proportion youtube. That's even way more pathetic. That being said, I'm starting to slowly fall in love with this NPC meme.

Then we need to hold our female soldiers and trainees to a higher standard, equal to men, not ban them altogether. Sorry, but I fully support equality of opportunity.

Dude, your kind of thinking is why in many countries there is forced selective service in the military, which exclusively mandates men to fight, watch their friends die and die themselves in combat. There's nothing wrong with women taking on combative roles if it's their choice. If you're arguing that women in the military have privileges, it's those privileges you should be arguing to dismantle, not women themselves. You're just throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I guess maybe the question can be phrased like this? : What are the best ways to spread awareness without turning away people who could've been potential allies? I don't think it's too ridiculous to mention how the MRM has a bit of an image problem, and discuss ways we can address it.

Imagine being praised for suggesting unconsensual, mass sterilisation of one sex. Now imagine being praised for suggesting the mass sterilisation of children of one sex. I always worry for that boy who will stumble upon a horrible article like this, and have his self-worth diminished because of what some cruel, disgusting women say. I had those experiences, as I'm sure many others here have, it's not helpful, especially during the vulnerable time adolescence is. At least they're not bothering to…

I think what's more important is to let men be themselves, not to be forced to fit some narrative pushed on to them. If you're a trasitionally masculine guy, great! You're perfect the way you are! If you're not a very masculine type of guy at all, great! You're perfect that way! While it's wrong to force men to fit a status quo set by those who despise masculinity, it is equally wrong to pressure men to be manly, stoic, or something that doesn't come naturally to him, particularly if you're only…

Well you can choose between a train reminiscent of thomas the tank engine, or a really ugly pink & green train. I think plenty of girls would want the blue & red train as well. Hence why the pink train is cheaper. Highly, highly doubt it has anything to do with gender.

The technical term for targeting a persons genital or private regions for inflicting pain, wounds and mutilation is called 'Aggravated Sexual Assault'. Depending on location, being charged with aggravated sa carrys a more severe sentence than rape.

Thank you for saying that. I never reported my own rape until about 10 years later. (I was a kid though, and it only got reported because I had started therapy and therapists here are legally required to report instances of child rape) it's somewhat cathartic knowing I'm dedinitely not alone, but at the same time really sucks that so many other guys went through that. I'm sorry but no. Let men be themselves. We're individuals. A lot of us are traditionally masculine, a lot of us are not. There is no need to make men conform to something that does not come naturally to them, especially if its only to serve the interests of women. I will not let anyone, epsecially those who have never lived nor identified as a man, define what masculinity should or should not be for me.

Hmm, it's probably a case of "grass is always greener on the other side" sorta thing. It's a painful, almost miserable adolescence when you're growing up realising you're gay, however when you're an adult, out of the closet and lucky to have a supportive family and/or friends (and blessed with living in a western nation), it's pretty awesome. So, about 2 years ago I joined a forum for survivors of sexual abuse, as I was looking for a group of people to talk about similar issues while also remaining anonymous. I mostly found it positive, though it can be heavy sometimes. The forum's population is mostly women, but men are equally welcomed and the vast majority of members will give equal advice, support and empathy to male survivors. Often the mixed community has been benefitial for everyone. That being said there are seperate locked s…

The reason behind the term survivor, is to raise the self-esteem of those who suffered sexual violence, and help them move on from a perpetual state of viewing themselves as weak, pathetic, victims. It doesn't work for everyone though. For me, I just can't identify with the term survivor, even though I am one technically, I dunno, I feel like a fraud using that word... But I don't like considering myself just a victim either, fuck that. I want to overcome that. I don't have issues with other peo…

I'd just like to point out to any guys in Ireland, there's a clinic in dublin that is offering free HPV vaccinations to men between the ages of 16-26 (they are a bit relaxed on age, know a guy who started at 27). It involves 3 rounds of shots spread out over the course of a number of months. I personally don't have as big of an issue with menslib, I lurk there occasionally and they sometimes bring up good issues men face, they just analyse them all wrong. They try to incorporate feminist theory into their data and solutions, which is inherently going to be a problem because feminism fights for (or in my opinion, SHOULD fight for) women's rights. So when it comes to fighting for men's rights, feminism has no leg to stand on because it's not their area of experties. When feminism anal…

I wont be seeing it. It's a shame since I quite like Anne Hathaway and Helena Botham Carter, but I'm just too creeped out by the fact that Kate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock use harvested korean baby foreskins to try and hold onto their diminishing looks. A few things 1: Are women supposed to just wear anti rape condoms all the time? If I were a woman I'd feel dehumanised by the suggestion. And when they do wanna have sex, they're gonna take it out before the deed? "Hang on sweetie, just gotta take out the vaginal bear trap" 2: This also seems like a really awful way to set up an innocent man for rape and also genitally mutilating him, she could do this to get back at a boyfriend or something. 3: This can be used as a weapon of rape for female pe…

Convincing them they're bodies are mutilated when they've had no prior body confidence issues is NOT mentally healthy either. There needs to be a middle ground where it can be addressed that they went through genital cutting against their will, which is wrong, because consent, but not make them feel like freaks that'll spring em into depression, or become agressively defensive of the practice.

I wasn't offering an alternative term because I was using this thread to find one, and I have. Someone brought up "male genital cutting" which I feel is a more accurate term. I don't particularly like the word circumcision, as it disguises what it is, neither did I like MGM cause it takes things from 1 to 100, rather than the case by case basis it actually is, I think I'll be using MGC from now on. Edit: also, biologically FGC and MGC are not the same. Ethically, in terms of consent, they are th…

I don't care about down-votes it's fine if people disagree with me and don't know how to argue back, so they just tap a little button instead. No biggie. I guess most surgical procedures also fall under the category of mutilation if that's the case, which would then mean you'd have to argue that some forms of mutilation are okay or good for you or that no kind of mutilation is okay, for example the testicular cancer scenario. You can call the surgery to remove the cancerous testicle "mutilation"…

People are bringing up female genital cutting to assert that male genital cutting is wrong, when I have explicitly stated over and over that I believe male circumcision on children or anyone without consent is wrong. Im arguing whether or not the term MGM is counter-productive to the movement if it's just going to create hostility and have people on the defence instead of discussing an important issue here.

Removing a clitoris or sowing a vagina shut seems harsher than removing the foreskin. Both are still wrong though, I'm not disputing that. I've noticed I'm talking a lot about female circumcision a lot here... Can we....can we please have one conversation about male genital cutting without bringing up female genital cutting at all? I'm kind of sick of talking about women's issues in a post I made to talk about men's issues.

I said: I don't really view male and female circumcision as equivalent in terms of damage, most of the time Emphasis here on "most of the time" Did she do that on a child? If so, then yes, she should be charged. Did she do it on a consenting adult? No, she shouldn't be charged.

I see protecting people of both sexes from nonconsensual nontherapeutic genital cutting as part of a single over-arching ethical discourse. Agreed. Also, a lot of the defense of so-called male circumcision rests on a web of claims regarding so-called female circumcision (that you "can't compare" them because "x, y, and z apply to female genital cutting", except in many cases x, y, and z also apply to male genital cutting, and the person making the xyz argument either doesn't know that, or is dis…

In the sense that a man may need and choose to get himself circumcised for legitimate medical reasons. His body doesn't deserve to be labled as mutilated. I mean, surely you don't think having a testicle/testicles removed due to cancer is mutilation of course.

I agree that it shouldn't be normalised, I just don't know if Labeling it MGM is the right way to go. This might be a cultural thing, since where I'm from, I don't think anyone views circumcision as "normal", but I definitely understand in other regions that word is very normalised and expected, and it shouldn't be. Discussing the ethics of genitals cutting should be brought up often to wake people up. Since I think most people do think of MGM as removal of the foreskin, it doesn't do much to di…
