It’s a fantasy and fiction, but still appealing as only fiction can be. The protagonist for romcoms is typically a self-insert average person who gets to experience fantastic situations and a building romance. A female protagonist ends up with a perfect alpha/beta mashup who can take her on the emotion rollercoaster but will always be her “rock” in the end. A male protagonist ends up with a loyal, feminine woman who loves and supports him. And who, as this is rooted in fantasy, harbors no hidden…

“I have several loans with large monthly payments and a good chunk of debt. Hopefully I’ll be over all of it within about 18 years. Looking for a real woman to financially support me.” Can you imagine?

I am a man. I am a single man with no practical interest in women. I like the idea of women, and damn if I’m not attracted to women in general, but having weighed the balance between the potential pros and cons of a relationship I have decided that one is simply not worth my time for the foreseeable future. I, and we men collectively, do not owe this woman anything. We do not owe anything to women collectively. I’d be interested perhaps in re-establishing iron rules for an equal trade, but that …

From what others have said, it seems she was briefly engaged to a fairly “high-value” man but broke off the engagement. Building off of your example, that’s like the engineer bouncing around for years without ever securing full employment, finally securing a great offer from a good company and accepting the position, only to suddenly retract and reject the offer. The engineer then goes on TV, complains again about how nobody will hire him, and blasts all prospective companies as being bad compan…

Isn’t that generalization just being used as a personal shield? It’s dressed up as a general rule, but you’ve got to think that translates to, “Any man who doesn’t want me is a loser!”

The numbers are truly fascinating. The only point I don’t think is entirely accurate however is your final calculation, which applies the 80/20 rule to the previous 1.7% value. I find it unlikely that unmarried 6-foot-plus 100k earners have the same overall attractiveness distribution as the broader sampling of “all men” normally considered. Since women are filtering attractiveness in general through the 80/20 rule, I think someone with all three of those points together is more likely to fall i…

I may have misread, but it seems the older woman in question the father is referring to is not his daughter. She’s labeled a family friend. He’s thinking about his 4-year-old daughter and hoping her situation doesn’t end up like the older woman’s, hence my response about raising his daughter properly.

Dear unnamed father, please raise your daughter properly. Please teach her morality, decency, and good judgement. You can try your best to push her closer to someone you feel would be a good match, but ultimately the decision lies with her. Your daughter has the ability to shatter her own marriage prospects at any time. That’s why controlling her actions is less important than teaching her to not only make the correct decisions in life, but to want to make those decisions as well. Modern marriag…

I work for a decent-sized managed services provider, and it’s exactly as you say. Beginning with my original supervisor, everyone in management I’ve worked with up through the senior VPs has been great (I don’t work with the chief officer positions, but from the occasional chance conversation they all seem like good decent people as well). Friendly, instructive, etc. They get serious with work, but that includes seriously listening to complaints and recommendations. The only ruthless hand-crushe…

I could almost believe if if they were actually becoming hardcore religious. Like drop everything and join a convent, commit the rest of their lives to the church, that sort of thing. That is not the case with most of these, however. For them, religion is just the newest get-out-of-jail-free card. God is forgiving and doesn’t judge, tee-hee. Some of them put in just enough effort to go to church once a month, and then memorize some carefully-curated bible verses to regurgitate at the slightest h…

Exactly. Regardless of which “caste” a person is born into, you need to consider what they actually did with their starting circumstances, and what they’ve ended up with. Lots of people hate on Donald Trump, for example, because he started with a $10 million loan from his father. But he turned that around into a net worth of about $3 billion, rather than squandering it or merely retaining its value. Trump started with all-star players on the bases sure, but then he hit a grand slam. This woman s…

otoh, how did she manage to fuck up a marriage so bad that her husband divorced her ? She told him to. It was just a joke, she said, a quip! And they did it all the time! Never any reason to think it might be serious! My bets are on her harassing her husband for years, and he’d get fed up with her and react, but then she’d bring up the whole divorce angle. Something like, “Oh yeah? What are you going to do, leave me? At least do it while I’m young and attractive!” And then he’d give the snarky r…

I'm assuming those replys to the tinder profile were not average looking guys? Worse, they trend towards the higher end of the spectrum. Attractive men slay on OLD, unattractive men do not. Many men tend to have this idea that the less attractive a woman is, the easier she is to hook. This is true for the top percentage of men; all women want them, but the more attractive ones are merely interested while the unattractive ones are falling over themselves. Because OLD simply increases the exposure…

I had some savings, which were meant to be kept safe for a rainy day, but I decided that the rainy day had come. I was going to spend the money trying to look like the girl in the photo again. It wasn’t an easy decision. As a freelance journalist, cashflow can be very chaotic and I need a buffer in the bank, but I saw it as an investment in my future. In five years’ time I would love to be happily married to a wonderful man (please)! If that means blowing my savings so I can catch the eye of a p…

It’s truly amazing how many truths and motivations became crystal-clear when I finally realized that most of the hypocritical, contradictory nonsense they spout is derived from psychological projection.

It’s the same idea as “incel”, or any other derogatory categorization that left-minded groups get their hands on. Sure, some targets of the term are truly involuntary celibates, as in someone who feels deserving of or entitled to sex but cannot actually find a partner. Now anyone who exhibits “incel behavior” is guilty of being categorized as such, though exactly what constitutes incel behavior is always ever loosely-defined and ever-changing at best. Now we have PUAs labeled incels if they dare…

Dating, marriage, and LTRs in general are transactional. People engage in relationships because they want something from them. In the case of OLD, the traditional paced methods have proved insufficient for the intended goal, so this serves as a Hail Mary pass. A Hail Mary across dozens of football fields simultaneously, looking for just one touchdown. Nobody goes fishing because he wants to feed the fish. Some people fish simply because they enjoy the activity of fishing. Testing your skills and…

This drives me absolutely insane. I was having a conversation with two work colleagues at a chill bar once about space, and the we ended up on black holes and different types of stars. It went on for maybe ten, fifteen minutes, and the woman never added anything. We were having a blast and tried to loop her in, but she hijacked the conversation to talk about astrology and horoscopes. Because stars. Then she got mad when we called out horoscopes for being a load of BS and psychological tricks for…

And the 1 had better be you. As the saying goes: you break it, you buy it. If homeboy breaks the glass vase, doesn’t buy it, and puts it back up for grabs on the shelf...I’m not buying it. If the store slaps a huge discount sticker on it, I’m still not buying it. Maybe if it’s a really nice vase and only chipped or cracked a bit, I might consider it. But in all likelihood I wouldn’t take it even for free.

My favorites are hiking, camping, and skiing. From personal experience, hiking means “snapchat and instagram, but in expensive workout clothes”, and requires stopping for a beer at the top “because they earned it”. Skiing means “snapchat and Instagram, but in expensive winter clothes”, and pausing three times a run for mountain vista selfies. Camping means “wine, but outside with trees”. Captured for eternity on snapchat and instagram, of course.

Good advice, thank you. I’m four years out of university, working in a STEM field. Got a good starting salary, good benefits and all that, but yearly raises are only around 3% max. Internal promotions are a very lengthy process. On the flip side, the company pays for training, the company itself is booming and everything I hear from the long timers indicates the position is comfortably stable. So I could probably start company hopping if I was primarily concerned about $$$, or buckle up for the …

I’m sure the subconscious thought process goes something like: Can’t handle rejection, so won’t swipe right first. But the number of people willing to match with her is drying up. So, she matches with men she has zero interest in and proceeds to insult them. If they stumble over themselves and simp, she wins. If they don’t simp, it just reinforces her “no good men” mentality. Since she believes men worship all women, it doesn’t cross her mind that they might take initiative and unmatch her first…

Absolutely a scam. We see a consistent problem here with dumb, entitled women but geez, at some point it starts to defy common sense. If she were truly desperate for baby formula, or for money to buy formula, she has a lot of better options. The baby daddy, daddy government, food banks, her parents, other close relatives, good friends, next-door next neighbors. Shoot, Christmas Eve one year my neighbor knocked on my door asking if we could spare a few eggs. I certainly wouldn’t say no if they ne…

Is this just “hard to get” psychology? Like, maybe she has enough awareness to realize men don’t want to rai$e $omeone el$e’$ kid$, so if she threatens to make them unavailable then reverse psychology will kick in and make her targets interested in them?
