That's incredibly specific, and as a gamer I know that it's too specific to applied well enough everywhere. It's just not a good enough explanation. Gaming hasn't been about escaping the rules of society, gaming has been about a lot of things, that included. Everyone games for different reasons, hence different genres and different games. That's also a pretty general statement to say about the rules of games. I've been a gamer for most of my life and I never got the sense of the rules you say ar…

There is a difference between being a white knight and chiming in to show your support for someone when a bunch of fuckwits are behaving in a way that is ridiculous and not ok. The sexism in geek and gamer culture is a prime example, theres a hell of alot of women hating forever alones that will rag on a girl simply because they don't like having a girl in their game. It happens alot more than anyone will admit.

This is a better response. Too many people's ideas and definitions of white knight include anyone who stands up against someone at the aid of women, or any other person or group for that matter.

Thank you for the most helpful reply yet. It helped break some of the false assumptions I didn't realize I had. I'll be sure to ignore the bullshit of seddit and pay attention to the parts that will work for me. Thanks again sir.

Thank you, seems like all the women feel that way. Helps reassure me.

I've done it and gotten laughed out of the room. Multiple times.

Alright, your right. I'll start talking to people more, thanks for actually being helpful.

Are you on the same Seddit? Alpha male boastful and self centered advice is everywhere here.

A couple things first, this man has started fights with me in my own room over incredibly trivial things. He has threatened to kill potential children of mine. The man is terrible human being. Asserting my will over someone by expressing opinions is one thing, expecting special privileges or acting in a way that would suggest you are better than another is different and what I was talking about. I've gotten that general consensus so far as well and I plan to take the advice and learn as best I c…

I'm not here for the reasons you are. And you misunderstand my motives.

A large part of this was to express my distaste, another was to gain legitimate advice a bit more specific to my situation.

Hardly, this man has threatened my life numerous times and brought it to physical altercation. He has also threatened any potential children I am to have because of my philosophies. This man is a terrible person to the core, and makes people think hes a great guy. Its sickening.

I would say your probably right, the only thing I have question about is this. I have an extremely scientific mentality. I don't beleive you can discern anything without experimentation and data. I think this impedes me because I don't think I can perceive my own worth through anything that isn't independent of me, because bias is something that must be avoided. Any ideas for helping overcome this? Anyone else have ideas for helping overcome this?

How about a fan club for all the people like this? There are plenty of them, apparently all we need is a database, haha

Your right, I've developed that idea because of years of rejection. Its going to take some time to break that, but I'm committed to it.

Your certainly right, I just have to do that same thing for women then. Thanks!

I don't mean to come off as holier-than-thou I'm just saying how I feel on the subject and felt that seddit needed to hear some dissenting opinion.

More or less, thats what I've been trying to emulate my entire life with very little success. I just need to figure out what isn't working.

Thank you, its good to see that there are other opinions apart from "Your just a bitch, get with the program". Its the people like you that keep my faith in humanity going.

I never put forth the idea I was less valuable. I said I'm not willing to treat someone in a way that I find to be in poor taste.

I meant more strong-arming than asserting your will over others I guess. I find most to be inexcusably rude. I'll keep reading with your advice in mind, your certainly right about having to look out for your own interests, you put in in a very good way.

Is the book available in some electronic form, I've gotten probably a dozen book recommendations already and want to see if there is a way to get it without dropping $50 on another book. As a college student I don't really have that cash

I've replied to people advice, but your right. I've done it less so than I should, I've seen a number of comments assuming I was just some whiny bitch who never stood up for himself and took offense, when I shouldn't.

Alright man, maybe one day we'll meet in person, then we can go on to dominate the world, build cyborgs and build inter-galactic civilizations, sound good? By the way if we do meet and become friends this is all required of both of us.

This is way more helpful than the standard "your too serious" responses I've gotten before. I got too upset with all the advice telling me I MUST do this in order to be successful, I think this is the prime piece of advice I'll take from this. Thank you sir.

No, asserting your will in situations where it will create an unequal treatment of another is wrong. In my edit I dealt with this. I'm certainly not some scared little guy afraid of conflict, I just would never assert myself past where I want other to assert themselves. As for the troll post comment, ever think that I might have responsibilities, like a job? Or school? Or both at the same time?

Most of the links in the right lead me to things that make me angry.

Maybe, I could see that. I'll hit that link sometime if I can, first day of classes here, have some work that needs to be done.

The mentality is what I dislike. "Everyone is missing out on me". That mentality is what I dislike, its what makes me angry and its why I can't stay on seddit for more than 30 minutes at a time.

I take care of myself. I groom and make sure I look good, I make sure I am clean and smell nice, I am currently on a diet and work out regularly. I have plenty of interesting ideas and thoughts. I can't usually get them in however since there are other alphas out there who are far louder than I will allow myself to be. I mean that more literally than you might think. I can respond intelligently and hold a conversation with a smart intelligent girl just fine. What I cannot handle is the arrogance…

This is helpful, thanks. I can see people needing a leader, but the ways alot of men talk to people is disgusting to me. Everywhere I go here I am expected to have some response that is supposed to glorify myself, even as a joke I hate that, specifically because its presented as a joke. It's presented in a way that isn't supposed to be taken seriously, but the people in question will laugh and then think nothing of it, even though they never got a straight answer. I dislike games. I prefer every…
