Depriving yourself of tiny dopamine pleasures is a great way to build discipline, character, and feel better about truly good things. For example, you can practice this by: When you want to take your phone out of your pocket to check Facebook or reddit, say no, I'll keep my phone in my pocket. When you're standing up and get tired and want to sit down, keep standing for another 5 mins. Etc.

Economics student here. In ELI5 terms, she is referring to non-western countries for the most part. In certain parts of the world (3rd world countries) most women stay at home and men do the work. If women got an education and started working --> 100% increase in the work force, country will rapidly improve, poverty decreases, etc. She's 100% right in terms of poorer countries. This doesn't apply in the western world.

Yea forcing myself to eat was the hardest part. I can easily go 2 weeks without food (/r/fasting) but bulking was hard. Always felt bloated and wanting to throw up. It get's easier. On that note, 1200 calories over is excessive, people on /r/fitness will say 250, but imo keep it higher, maybe around ~750, at least until you are at a healthier weight, then you can drop it. What does your diet consist of?
